  1. Yuri flipped through the racks of clothes in a frenzy, feeling her mind go mad. She had went into so many stores but nothing carried what she was looking for. Granted, she only saw her in her uniform, so she didn't exactly know what her look was, but it definitely wasn't what she was currently looking at. She sighs, and closes her eyes. If she were to imagine Sayori in casual clothes, what would it be?
  2.
  3. Loose, the word comes to her mind quicker then the image.
  4.
  5. She frowns, and her eyebrows crinkle - isn't that a little insulting to recieve a shirt or a pair of shorts that didn't fit at all?
  6.
  7. She looked at the time, saw that the mall was closing in an hour, and ruffled her hair even further. She'd never looked for birthday presents for a friend before. Why was it so hard?
  8.
  9. Her eyes glanced towards the cashier counter, and saw something that caught her eye. A gift card to the store. It felt like an easy way out, but everyone does it these days, and it isn't as insulting as an ill-fitting shirt, she figures. She lines up to purchase one.
  10.
  11. ----------------------------------------------------
  12.
  13. At the other end of the mall in another store, unbeknownst to Yuri, Monika was in line waiting to purchase her own gift for Sayori. She looked down at it in her hands, a fancy notebook and pen, still unsure about it. Her usual tactics for gift giving has failed her so far for Sayori.
  14.
  15. "Just get something that relates to their hobbies!"
  16. But isn't it like, too obvious to give her something poetry related?
  17. "Then what's another hobby of hers?"
  18. Uhm...
  19.
  20. Her life outside of school and the club was a gap of knowledge. Monika had a good idea of who Sayori is, but not what she does. She thinks that, what if she was actually very studious? Like, just spent all her free time studying for tests and doing school projects? She chuckles to herself, weirding out the cashier who was calling for the next customer in the process. Monika runs up to her with a blush on her face.
  21.
  22. -----------------------------------------------------
  23.
  24. Sayori blows the candle stabbed atop the small cake that everyone pitched in for and the room erupts in cheers and claps.
  25.
  26. "Thank you guys so much! This really means a lot to me.." She says with an almost apologetic smile on her face.
  27.
  28. Natsuki rubs Sayori's shoulder. "Of course! Anything for you, especially on your birthday. And, I got you something!"
  29.
  30. "Oh, no, Natsuki, you didn't-"
  31.
  32. "Here, here, open it!" She thrusts an aromatic box into her hands, and with a embarrassed glance around the room she unwraps the ribbon and opens the lid. Her eyes lights up.
  33.
  34. "Cookies!!" She pulls one out of the box and she whispers "wait is that..?"
  35.
  36. "Yup! Your two favorite flavours."
  37.
  38. "OH MY GOD NATSUKI THANK YOU!" She stuffs the cookie in her mouth and tackles Natsuki with a bear hug. "Thish ish the besh prehent ever!!"
  39.
  40. Monika and Yuri hold tight-lipped smiles as Natsuki laughs and tries to get Sayori off her, sweaty palms holding their shitty offerings by comparison.
  41.
  42. So that was the answer all along...
