  1. Secret of Evermore
  2.
  3. Platform: Snes
  4. Released:
  5. 01.10.1995 (NA)
  6. 22.02.1996 (PAL)
  7.
  8. Based on: PAL-version (SNSP-AEOP)
  9.
  10.
  11.
  12. - The game does not track your play time. Consider tracking it manually.
  13. - The number of items you receive from hidden item spots can sometimes vary.
  14. - Dropped items are determined by the location, not the enemy. Most enemies
  15. have a drop rate of 1/16.
  16. - When moving in hidden passages (there are quite a few of them in this game),
  17. you can check your location by opening the ring menu.
  18. - If the Boy dies, it's game over.
  19. - Attacking at full power requires a full ATB charge. An ATB charge requires
  20. 1024 points. Each subject has an ATB rate that determines how many points
  21. they generate each frame. The PCs have ATB rates of 10. Enemies' mostly
  22. fall between 5-20.
  23. - ATB charge time in frames / seconds:
  24. ATB f NTSC PAL
  25. 5 | 205 | 3,42s | 4,1s |
  26. 8 | 128 | 2,13s | 2,56s | NTSC: 60 fps
  27. 10 | 103 | 1,72s | 2,06s | PAL: 50 fps
  28. 12 | 86 | 1,43s | 1,72s |
  29. 15 | 69 | 1,15s | 1,38s |
  30. 20 | 52 | 0,87s | 1,04s |
  31.
  32. - Stats:
  33. Str | Base ATP (Attack Power)
  34. Con | Base DFP (Defense Power)
  35. MDF | Base MDF (Magic Defense)
  36. Eva | Base Evade
  37. Hit | Base Hit
  38.
  39. - Stat gain per level:
  40. HP Str Con MDF Eva Hit
  41. Boy | 9 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0,5 | 0,5 |
  42. Dog | 9 | 4 | 6 | 1 | 0,5 | 0,5 |
  43.
  44. - Base physical damage is ATP - target DFP/4. Random variation is +/-25%.
  45. Enemy DFP values have already been divided by 4.
  46. - Your characters exhibit hitstun even when damage received is 0.
  47. - Weapons only have two charge attacks that are unlocked by leveling them
  48. up. Each weapon has its own level, so if you get a new sword, it'll start
  49. off at Lv0 regardless of how much you've used the previous swords. Each
  50. level requires 256 SP. The Boy gets 4 SP per kill at Lv0, 2 SP at Lv1. The
  51. Dog gets 2 SP per kill. Only the last character to deal damage to an enemy
  52. receives SP from killing it. The menu doesn't show actual SP values but
  53. rather percentage figures.
  54. - The Lv1 charge attack gives you double power. Lv2 gives you quad power.
  55. Each charge takes 146 frames (2,43s in NTSC; 2,92s in PAL) (1024 points at
  56. 7 ATB).
  57. - You move at normal speed while charging.
  58. - You can't push enemies or NPCs.
  59.
  60. - Healing items:
  61. Petal | 40 HP
  62. Nectar | 120 HP
  63. Honey | 300 HP
  64. Biscuit | Revive Dog with 100 HP

  118. you get the hidden items before you die / move on. You can grab them

  141.
  142. - In the village, you'll meet Elizabeth aka Fire Eyes, who gives you your
  143. first Alchemy formula (magic, basically). Just like in SoM, I try to use
  144. as little magic as possible, at least outside of the bosses.
  145. - Alchemy ingredients are indeed hidden all over the place everywhere,
  146. but they really don't amount to much, making shops a far superior source.
  147. Unless you have compulsive tendencies, you can just ignore the hidden stuff.
  148. - The Ash found in the bonfire in front of Elizabeth's hut is an unusual
  149. case, as it respawns (there's one other hidden item that does that, but
  150. it's not an ingredient). It only takes about 12 seconds to respawn, but
  151. you need to refresh the area (ie. leave, then re-enter) to trigger it.
  152. - If you killed the Raptors, you can get a Grass Vest from a guy in one
  153. of the huts.
  154. - Don't buy a Leather Collar. You can get one for free after Bugmuck.
  155. The Dog's Constitution is much higher, so it'll manage.
  156. - The Biscuits would be replaced with Call Beads after the boss. These
  157. containers are in Fire Eyes' hut and the hidden side area.

  181. Boss: Thraxx (heart, left claw, right claw)
  182.
  183. - You may have trouble hitting the Tar Skulls. Aim at the head.
  184. - The first area inside Thraxx's lair features several paths that crumble
  185. when taken. Some crumble as soon as you approach them, others allow you
  186. to cross a couple of times at least in one direction. See the rough map
  187. below. It's possible to permanently miss some of the hidden items, but
  188. it's no big deal.
  189. - You'll fight the boss after the second, much simpler, area.

  213. - Claws: 250 HP, 8 DFP, 17 ATP, 30 ATB, 250 Exp, 150 T each
  214. - This is a tough boss. It'll cast Acid Rain every minute. It deals
  215. 40-50 pod, which will be split between the two of you as long as the
  216. Dog stays alive. The heart is protected by the rib cage, which takes
  217. a few hits to open. There will be Maggots after you at all times. If
  218. you can't deal damage fast enough, Acid Rain will eventually kill you
  219. as you run out of healing items.
  220. - You don't have to take out the claws, but then you'll miss out on
  221. the xp. If you haven't built up, you probably can't afford to waste
  222. time on them.
  223. - You'll receive 300 T if you don't have space for the reagents.

  280. Lv1 before the next boss. Leveling up Heal is also a good idea.
  281. - I use the spear's charge attack very often in order to take out enemies

  309. - Use the spear's charge attack(s). Set the Dog's AI on passive and
  310. ignore the Wisps. If there are still 3 of them, it won't spit out any
  311. more of them, which makes it easier to approach.

  427. - Go save the game at the tavern right away.
  428. - Spend some time getting familiar with the market, then reset. Some goods
  429. have more than one source, but you'll want to go with the ones who give
  430. you the best deal.
  431. - You have about 17 minutes (15 in NTSC) before the market (temporarily)
  432. closes and you have no choice but to proceed with the story. Some of the
  433. items you find in the Colosseum will change if you've already obtained
  434. certain items from the market. Specifically, you'll want to have the four
  435. pieces of armor mentioned above before time runs out. You shouldn't have
  436. any trouble with that. You can use the spare time to score some charms.
  437. You can pick up whatever is left after the Colosseum.
  438. - You have to go through the warehouse emporium to get the Jeweled Scarabs
  439. and Limestone Tablets. Pick up Atlas and some Honey on your way.
  440. - Once you have the Stone Vest, talk to the doomsayer repeatedly until
  441. you get some choices. Hit Cancel and you should get the Centurion Cape.
  442. - *: It claims to take 15 rice but it's actually 8. Don't haggle it
  443. further than that or he'll refuse to do business with you.
  444. - Normally, you'd have to buy a huge load of beads to get everything,

  446. 13 beads.

1052. and its attack is ranged. It can also run indefinitely.
1053. - You probably shouldn't fight the Raptor.
1054. - Talk to the guardbot at the junkyard after rescuing IM-L8 to get Reflect.
1055. - Only the Dog can use the airlocks to go to the exterior of the station.
1056. - You'll need to destroy the Sphere Bots and Rimsalas to get through the

1058. - A2 will take you to the shops.
1059. - Activate the cooling systems in C2. After that, you can get from C1 to D1.
1060. - In D3, you can toggle the lighting in the storage and greenhouse (affects
1061. both). You can only open the chests in the storage if the light is on. You
1062. can only survive in the greenhouse if the light is off. Otherwise, the black

  1064. - Sidney: Restore, Disrupt, Electra-Bolt
1065. - The Call Up spell uses 1 Meteorite and 1 Dry Ice. You can get Meteorites
1066. from the Amulet salesman in Crustacia, but there's no need, as you can't
1067. get more Dry Ice. Either way, the spell is hardly useful, as you can easily

  1092. Bosses: Alchemy:
  1093. 2× Face Magmar Energize
  1094. Dark Toaster Carltron's Robot
  1095.
1096. - Energize allows you to use charge attacks incredibly fast. You don't
1097. even have to hold down Attack. It lasts for 72 seconds (60 in NTSC). The
1098. spell uses 1 Iron and 1 Crystal.
1099. - If you want levels, go for the Rimsalas. Hit them with a normal attack
1100. just as the damage numbers from the Dog's charge attack are popping up.
1101. Respawn the Sphere Bots (if needed) so it can't get too far away from
1102. you. You can get 100k in 9 minutes.
1103. - You can now reach the final boss from the junkyard. There's also the
1104. optional boss you can reach from D3. The door that says 'lock' can be
1105. opened with a random code. The door will close if you leave the station
  1106. or save and quit
  1107.
  1108. [Boss: 2× Face]
  1109. - 4000 HP, 4000 Exp, 200 DFP, 2000 C each, 30× Particle Bomb
1110. - They'll periodically spam you with Flash. If you don't have more than
1111. 400 HP, you should level up first.
  1112.
  1113. [Boss: Final Battle]
1114. - After taking out the Fans and Speakers, examine the spots where they
  1115. used to be.
1116. - For every Mechaduster you kill, a Death Spider will start appearing after
1117. each round. A fairly tough enemy (6000 HP, 100 DFP, 325 ATP, 30 ATB), so
1118. I'd advise against it. You've already got your hands full.
  1119. - After taking out Dark Toaster (10 000 HP, 60 DFP, 175 ATP, 10 ATB) and
1120. the monitors explode, you can move out of bounds in the top left corner
1121. when the wall comes down. If you go too far in there as soon as possible,
  1122. you'll end up stuck.
1123. - You can also get a crash when fighting Magmar. Not sure what triggers
1124. it, but it seems to have something to do with opening the ring menu just
1125. as he uses his Crush spell. The spell occurs even though you have the menu
1126. open, and then things just fall apart.
1127. - You need to interrupt Magmar's regeneration. Otherwise, the battle will
  1128. go on forever (25 000 HP, 90 DFP, 170 ATP).
  1129. - Carltron's Robot (30 000 HP, 90 DFP, 220 ATP) does ab. 100 pod per hit.
