  1. #FixCVs in World of Warships
  2.
  3. The resistance movement to solve the aircraft carrier (CV) problem in World of Warships (WoWs) rests on three pillars:
  4.
  5. * Publicity
  6. * Market pressure
  7. * The player demand
  8.
  9. While poll after poll shows the class to have a very low approval, and most players dislike them, WG marketing has led to a situation where currently, almost every Random battle has one or two aircraft carriers in them. They will be admitted to the next season of RANKED battles, and ultimately probably even to CLAN battles.
  10.
  11. Getting publisher Wargaming (WG) to change their mind about CVs is a very long shot. It can only work if WG concludes that maintaining their current course will hurt their profits, which makes MARKET PRESSURE the main working mechanism. It can only happen though if enough players take part in the movement and support it through their behaviour. That is why PUBLICITY is the most important of the three pillars. The attached online petition serves to nail down the actual DEMANDS of the player base (https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/wg-fix-cvs-in-wows)
  12.
  13. Even if it shouldn't work out, campaigning is still worth it as a mental hygiene measure. By campaigning, at least you are actually DOING something that potentially CAN bring about change, instead of just sitting at home bitching and moaning.
  14.
  15. Here is what you can DO:
  16.
  17. Generate PUBLICITY:
  18. * Sign the petition, share and discuss it across your social networks, web forums, clans etc. Hashtags #FixCVs and #FixCVsPetition - make it trend!
  19.
  20. * Show your support to the protest movement against CVs in public, for example by adding the prefix "FixCVs" to your in-game nick.
  21.
  22. * Bring up the issue of player protest against CVs in popular WoWs streams and comment on it whenever the better-known community contributors publish WG content.
  23.
  24. * A major milestone would be to get a community contributor to discuss player protest on their stream and/or vlogs ("Mingles with Jingles", Flambass' "Funs With Hans" etc.)
  25.
  26. Options to exert MARKET PRESSURE:
  27.
  28. * Stop purchasing any Wargaming products.
  29.
  30. * Boycott battle types that include aircraft carriers by not playing them. Focus instead on battle types without CVs, like Space Battles and Clan Battles.
  31.
  32. * Alternatively, sabotage modes that DO include aircraft carriers by making them unfun to play, for example by using OP premium ships like Asashio, Belfast, Kutuzov, Giulio Cesare, Kamikaze, Musashi etc. Go sealclubbing. Form cancer divisions. And importantly, make clear you do it in protest of CVs.
  33.
  34. * Eventually take a break from the game, shutting off WG's access to their most valuable ressource - YOUR free time spent on their servers.
  35.
  36. But remember: always be mindful, respectful and goal-oriented. Every fellow gamer is entitled to his or her opinion. And in the end, it is Wargaming's prerogative to do what they please with their game. Hurling abuse or threats at WG or fellow gamers will not help our cause.
  37.
  38. Remember also that Wargaming's business model rests on two main foundations: earnings from players who spend money on ships, premium time etc, and server population. There have to be enough players on the server to form teams and keep waiting times low. Free-to-play players (F2P) are therefore just as important for their business as paying customers.
