- [A4A] One Sky [Reminiscing] [Romantic] [Longing]
- | Alternative title: The Long Pain |
- [ ] denotes a sound, a tone of voice or a suggestion.
- -~-~-~-~-
- [optional sound effects: the performer is sitting outside at night]
- Isn't it remarkable how much we humans have in common?
- Think about it, for a moment...
- We all need the same basic things to live.
- Water. Air. Energy.
- We need sunlight.
- We need food and shelter.
- We breathe in the same air.
- The sun, moon and stars all move in and out of our sight.
- We all see them at some point, even though they may not be in the exact same place for everyone.
- Go outside and look at the sky itself.
- This is something we all share as well.
- No matter where you go, if you look up towards the sky, then you immediately connect with anyone, who happens to look at it at the same time as you.
- Go to the beach. Stare at the ocean.
- Somewhere, someone is staring right back at you without even knowing it.
- Walk into the depth of a forest. Close your eyes and let the serenity wash over you.
- Imagine, now, that the peace you feel is shared by any other visitor of the forest.
- These simple gestures enable you to share your hopes and dreams with every other human on the planet.
- Silently, of course... but still truthfully.
- Isn't that an amazing thought?
- For all the things that separate and divide us, we still have so many things in common.
- More than enough to bring us together, I'd say.
- [pause]
- If all of this really is true…
- Does that mean I am still close to you, too?
- Even now?
- [clears throat]
- And, amazing, isn’t is, that when I look at the darkened sky tonight, I know the sky is still bright and blue for you… because it’s still early where you are.
- You are probably wondering what the time is for me?
- It's almost [pauses to look at the clock] midnight.
- [deep breath]
- The sky I am looking at right now, is also your sky.
- Even if you see it from a different perspective than I do.
- The rain that falls on your face may at one point have been water in the very same lake I pass by on my way to work.
- Think about it.
- We are so far apart right now, but still connected.
- I wonder... how the sky looks where you are.
- Actually, I wonder what you are doing right now.
- Are you happy, sad or angry right in this very moment?
- Have you blessed your surroundings with the sound of your adorable laughter?
- Are you hiding your true self from the people around you, or have you found the courage to be true to yourself?
- Do you think of me, even just now and then?
- [pause]
- I wish you were here.
- There are so many things I want to tell you.
- So many things I want to show you.
- Things I want to experience in your company.
- Most of them are... pretty mundane, but that detail doesn't matter. The more grounded and basic they are, the more real it feels.
- The notion also makes me smile even more.
- I don't need overwhelming adventures to enjoy your company.
- How can you be separated by such a great distance and still feel a sense of belonging?
- I want you to know that I miss you.
- I miss you so much.
- Or, well…
- I miss you in whatever capacity I actually can.
- The sky is so beautiful tonight.
- I wish I could show it to you.
