Our Last Dance

The whole mess started a long time ago.

Not that long, but it feels like it’s been forever.

Two groups of students lived out their days in harmony, each isolated from the rest of the school.

They were alone, but they were happy.

Two young lovers found each other, one from each group.

One by the name of LUKE, the other by the name of PERI.

It seemed as though a beautiful thing was developing.

Long story short, it eventually went sour, and the two were at bitter odds with each other.

The groups were still united, despite this bitter turn of events.

Devastated at his loss, LUKE soon found comfort in the affection of PERI’s quiet best friend…

A lovesick girl by the name of ARLYNN.

Needless to say, LUKE made sure that went sour too.

The girls decided that LUKE had done enough damage.

They formed a pact to end his manipulative ways once and for all.

They spent countless hours researching, digging deep into the ancient and the arcane.

They learned forgotten magic…

…particularly, a powerful curse that would bestow upon the victim unbearable suffering until the end of time itself.

Their powers combined, they prepared to use this curse on LUKE.

But ARLYNN couldn’t go through with it.

And she instead, in the heat of the moment, used this power on her own comrade.

The whole town gathered to watch in horror as PERI screamed in pain.

It was, without a doubt, the most gruesome thing we had ever seen.

The Council of Mages, a Council which has kept this magic alive for centuries, took notice.

They came to Port Washington as fast as they could.

ARLYNN, knowing her punishment was imminent, came to this very room.

The venue for the senior prom.

And in her final moments before she was executed by the Council…

On this very floor, she danced.

All alone, the lovesick witch acted out the romantic night she had been denied.

She thought of LUKE, who had so badly hurt her.

But still, as she was obliterated by an ancient spell, she smiled.

LUKE, ashamed at the damage he had done, fled to his home street and barricaded it from the rest of the town.

The Council, meanwhile, deemed Port Washington sinful and unsafe, and quarantined it with a barrier.

No one comes in, no one gets out.

In comes ERIC…

…LUKE’s best friend in the whole world.

He had lost his best friend, and had been trapped in a hometown from which he had dreamed of escaping.

Furious, he led the effort to shatter the barrier.

The ancient texts speak of a boy whose very birth was rooted in the destiny that he would be sacrificed.

His bloody sacrifice would be the key to breaking the barrier.

They say he’s among us now. That he’s managed to enter the town through the barrier.

And with his heroic coup de grace, ERIC will at last free us all.

He will prove that the sins of the father are not to be laid upon us.

At last, we can move on.

Why so blue?

Lighten up kid.

Soon, we’ll finally be free.
