  3. Xuatli: ([Aztec] Fireheart: High Elves) Chieftain Ohtli. (Champion.) (Upstart in the form of Nahuat, the previous chieftain's daughter.)
  4.
  5. The Xuatli people live in the sun bleached stones; ancestors having carved homes out of plateau faces. Every day they chant at dawn to the sun until it has finished rising completely. Women lead the chants, do agricultural work, practice magic, and rear children. Men wage war, engage in construction, and craft weaponry. Their plateau homes are often reservoirs that fuel the people, but more importantly fuel the giant Fig trees that they have sprawled out over the top of the rock formations.
  6. The Xuatli people believe that strength comes from the sun, and that the Fig Trees are the gift bearing trees that carry the power of the sun in it's fruits. Each harvest season they find the largest fig, the first to be picked during harvest, and give it to their strongest warrior. They will then become general and go on a raid of any nearby tribe or Northerner settlement for territory, riches, trophies, or slaves. Prowess as a warrior was shown through collecting ears as well as dueling.
  7. Their magic is strictly light and fire based magics, paying homage and respect to the sun. Likewise their weaponry is constituted by spears with fire-charmed metal heads, Bows designed with sunbursts along the neck, arrows with kris-like arrowheads, and a Fig-wood club with serrated edges made of canine teeth or razor-edge, flat iron pieces called a Tzitzimau. The sacred sites of the Xuatli are the planting grounds of their Fig Trees. The Thunderroc of the desert is a sacred beast that they believe is endowed with the sun's energy and protects them from dangerous creatures while punishing the wickedness of other natives and outlanders.

  11. Hochechka: ([Crow] Spirit-keepers: Drow) Mother Ewu & Chieftain Hototo. (Beauty & Warrior's Spirit)
  12.
  13. Hochechka live in the northern part of what the Osmeans consider the south. Here a small village will often form near caverns; Hochechka believe that the spirits travel underground in order to pass on. They hold life and death in high respects, disgusted by undead and those ‘cursed’ by immortality. Every day they burn incense for the passing ghosts and specters so that they will be at peace on their journey. They believe in The Great Shadow who takes all spirits into it's form. They carve large poles of wood into various swirling, wispy shapes, and post them up around their tribal territory to both warn outsiders and gather the spirits that wander.

  17. Crocatol: ([Mohawk] Copse-blades: Wood Elves) Chieftain Konwakeri (Two-Axe).
  18.
  19. The Crocatol people live wherever flora & fauna thrive in harmony. They have a deep connection with nature as they live off of hunting and gathering, with the occasional agriculture cropping up in the larger tribes with less fauna to bring in. They believe that you should never hunt an Elk, as they are the spiritual embodiment of luck, and anyone who does so will be ousted from the tribes. They also believe that all things have a deity spirit within them, and will often make small jade shrines to important features of nature that the Crocatol rely on. Any who disturb these sites are met with swift fury of a Crocatolan hunting party, and death is mostly the outcome. Men and Women are both expected to fight, and most roles in the Tribe are coed contribution. Rearing of children, chores, spiritual ceremonies, all are jobs that both sexes fill. The Chieftain or Chieftess is elected from among a select few well established members of the Tribe, and is re-elected once every 10 years.
  20. The magic that the Crocatol practice is in line with the forests and rivers that they live with. They shun flames, and look at those who conjure fire in their territory as dangerous, untrustworthy people.
