  1. FAQ
  2. > When is [QUEST] coming back?
  3. Ask the QM.
  4.
  5. > [QUEST premise from earlier QTG thread] when?
  6. When you run it.
  7.
  8. > How do I git gud?
  9. Lurk and learn. Read quests, ideally a spread of active and finished ones. Check out the links above. Write something everyday.
  10.
  11. > Can you help me with [specific QUEST problem]?
  12. Maybe. Take any advice you get with a grain of salt, but don't dismiss it completely. Also keep in mind that /qtg/ is not indicative of the whole questing community.
  13.
  14. > Good run times?
  15. Ideally a chunk of four hours or more between UTC 1600 and UTC 0500. Most days have around the same activity. Weekends tend to be slightly more active than weekdays. Holidays tend to be less active.
  16.
  17. > How fast should I update my quest?
  18. Depends on how you want to run your quest. Some QMs have active sessions where they update every hour or so over a period of time. Others post when they can, sometimes once or twice every day or so. Do what is comfortable for you. The important bit is to STAY CONSISTENT so your players know what to expect. Also keep them in the loop when delays inevitably happen due to IRL. No one likes radio silence.
  19.
  20. > I DON'T WANT TO SIGN UP FOR TWITTER TO GET UPDATES ON QUEST SCHEDULES
  21. Then don't. Bookmark the page.
  22.
  23. > I DON'T WANT TO GET A TWITTER TO INFORM MY PLAYERS
  24. Nobody's forcing you to. However every bit of exposure and ways to reach out to your players helps.
  25.
  26. > Other quest sites?
  27. >>Anonkun (4chan spinoff, has unique system, currently has administration issues, bogged down with smut quests)
  28. >>tgchan (/tg/ spinoff, imageboard)
  29. >>QuestionableQuesting (SpaceBattles spinoff, bulletin board)
  30.
  31.
  32. > Which quests have eBooks?
  33. http://pastebin.com/kbGzcbDb (Not many people do this anymore, but the option is available for people that want to give it a shot.)
  34.
  35. > How do I make quest eBooks?
  36. You will need a text editor(optional, useful to strip residual formatting), LibreOffice Writer, Calibre and a PDF viewer.
  37. (1) Find the archived threads, CTRL + F the QM tripcode and copy the posts into the text editor, tag the beginnings and endings of threads somehow.
  38. (2) Save as plaintext.
  39. (3) Open in LibreOffice, apply formatting, use the Headings and Title functions to distinguish between threads.
  40. (4) Save one ODT and one HTML version in a folder with the Quest's title.
  41. (5) Export as PDF, save the result in the same folder.
  42. (6) Open Calibre, Click [Add Books], wait till the import is done, then [Convert Books] and choose MOBI and EPUB.
  43. (7) Complete folder and compress.
  44. (8) Upload to a DDL host.
  45. (9) Post.
