- IAE/SUCAH Guide by Llamason
- Part 1: The Intro
- Welcome to world of Yo-kai Watch Speedrun
- exploitation!
- (That sounds much worse than it should).
- If you speedrun or want to speedrun Yo-kai Watch 1
- or 2 then there is a decent chance you have heard
- of SUCAH or IAE.
- As this is a guide to learn and improve at this technique, I feel I should start by mentioning what SUCAH and IAE are in the first place. SUCAH stands for Soul Ultimate Cancel Attack Haste (not fully sure on the last word). IAE stands for Infinite Attack Exploit. SUCAH and IAE are the exact same thing so I will be calling it IAE from this point on in the guide since it's two letters less and I am just that lazy.
- <( ̄︶ ̄)↗
- As you can probably guess by the names, this exploit allows your yo-kai to attack infinitly by starting and cancelling a soultimate at the end of the yo-kai's attack. The timings vary though. Before going any further I will recommend watching this tutorial by Yo-kai Watch Glitch Archive: https://youtu.be/KINYkeYUPY0
- That guide does a much better job explaining the basics of IAE and late cancels then I ever could. HOWEVER, do be aware that IAE does in fact work on non-JP versions of Yo-kai Watch 2 with the exception of Specters even though the video implies otherwise.
- Part 2: Tips
- IAE is completely timing based and so Yo-kai Watch
- speedruns are basically Rhythm Heaven except you have to start over if you get too much bad luck. That last part is obviously a joke, but treating Yo-kai Watch 1 and 2 as if they are rhythm games is actually a good place to start.
- Similar to learning how to play a difficult piece on an instrument, practicing IAE slowed down is a great way to get better at it sped up.
- If you have access to a stylus then I recommend
- you use the touchscreen of your 3ds or Switch (if
- it still allows touch screen controls, I haven't
- actually played the YW1 port for switch). This is what I do and it is because there seems to be more lag upon starting the soultimate when using buttons which makes some timings much harder, if not maybe even impossible. (Although, Fo0d is better than I and he does it). Using a stylus to do it this fast will probably feel uncomfortable at the start, but eventually you will get used to it and also be much more efficient.
- Visual cues can work but the easiest way to perform IAE is with sound cues (at least for me). If a runner has performed IAE with the yo-kai you want to learn with it live, then capitalize on that and study the sound cues as they do it.
- My last words of advice before moving on to every timing is do not feel down if you can not get IAE. These timings are tight and require you to react
- different for each attack so it takes a while to learn. Practice makes perfect and with enough time and dedication you can become a super epic, IAE master who can beat Dame Demona without taking any hits with your arms tied behind your back and eyes closed. Okay, maybe not that much, but I do mean it when I say this takes practice. I also do not think it requires you to be any good at rhythm nor have a great reaction time. Muscle memory comes naturally for anyone, and to be honest with you, my reaction time is pretty bad (I have checked, it is below average).
- Part 3a: Start of Timings
- In the next sections I will be linking videos recorded by myself of IAE timing for every attack and technique in Yo-kai Watch 2. If I notice timings majorly vary from these in Yo-kai Watch 1 when I start to speedrun that game, then I will do a guide on those as well. Also, unless I say otherwise all videos will be recorded on an American copy of Fleshy Souls.
- I will be doing all of these with the yo-kai who is performing the attack at the top left as I find it the easiest location to perform this with.
- Every video will have the battle sped up because this trick is primarily used in speedruns.
- Also, before you call me a liar, I WILL NOT be showing the timing for every move of every yo-kai in the game because
- 1) I don't even have every yo-kai in the game
- 2) if two Yo-kai have the same move, the timing SHOULD be the same. Ex. The timing for Rapids with Walkappa is the same as it is for Mermaidyn.
- 3) Do you seriously think anyone has the time for that?
- Without further ado, onto the attacks.

- Part 4: Special Thanks
- • YukoNuko - I believe the runner who found this technique. Either ways, fantastic runner in both
- 1 and 2.
- • Ghoul02 - Great Yo-kai Watch 1 runner and mod who came up with the name for SUCAH.
- • Fo0d - Best Canadian Runner. Best Yo-kai watch 2 runner currently. Really good at IAE if you need extra help. Seriously, this man is an absolute speedrunning prodigy.
- • Sugarshrek - Coined the term IAE. Makes the guides for 2 and probably some other games (I am too lazy to check).
- • Kosamestl - Best Japanese Yo-kai Watch Speedrunner in the world. I recommend studying his vods to learn timings.
- • Yo-kai Watch Glitch Archive/Mr_Dew - Fantastic YW1 runner and the guy who made the IAE video guide.
- • The Yo-kai Watch Speedrunning Discord - Great resource filled with many great runners, and Pakje. Here is a link: https://discord.gg/PnmWNqc
