  1. You don't think tattooists hair dressers and other service industries gave away free man hours even though they paid for their equipment before they were professional? Comparing education and Daley of a dr. And your musical achievements is just retarded and no need to debate. But when comparing you to a mechanic or plumber they are doing a skilled trade.
  2.
  3. Now let's be real your musical equipment expenses are on average $500-1000 per person. Sake of math let's just say 5 members. Basic maintence lets go high and say $100 a month. Your rehearsal space of not st your parents place is usually a storage unit $50-100 a month. Your precious hours practices is usually an hour long and 2 hours of fucking around and trying to keep the drummer from playing while talking. So let's say it actually is 2 hours of practice (work) 5 man band at $10 an hour. So $100 a week. You play on average 2 shows a month. You really think your 2 20 minute sets are worth $950
  4.
  5. You're saying phone and internet bills gas rent insurance are also expected basic phone $50 a month so $250 internet is cheap $30 a month so $150 let's say gas is a tank each show $25 so $50 a month. So $450 on top of your $950 so you're saying 2 shows a month as a local band who only draws out maybe 20 kids each show $10 a ticket is $200. So before the promoter pays touring bands. Before he pays the venue. Before he pays his bills and gas. He only made $200 off of you. So $400 a month. But you feel entitled to $1400?

  7. By sharing you're agreeing and spreading the bullshit. I can tell you first hand promoters like lights out, fam, for your friends, Tbhc, significant etc don't make shit off what the do. And often times when they do make a buck they spend 2 on the next show out of their pocket.
  8.
  9. For instance let's say transitions sold out for turnstile /angle dust show $15 a ticket and 300 kids showed up. That's $4500 but turnstile has $1500 gaurd tee and angle dust has $1000... Which is a fair price considering they are actually touring across country and that's actually feeding them/ paying bills while not at real jobs.
  10.
  11. So epic problem says hey I know I charge $400 a night but had to up my security and kids may or may not have broke something. So promoter pays $800 to the venue. So he made $1200
  12.
  13. What happens next week when babe plays and wanted a $1500 and only 100 kids showed up at $15 a ticket. So now venue cost of $400 is out of promoters pocket plus the opening band who is also on tour. So this show he lost $900...
  14.
  15. Bottom line stop looking for money playing music. Until you go on month long tours to sold out crowds selling t shirts is the only way you might break even. Music is fun but realistically it's a hobby not a career.
