  1. RosenkrantzGM IT IS THE 41ST MILLENNIUM...
  2. RosenkrantzGM The Colony on Chidras has been deeply shaken by the unexpected mutant assault. Proctor Deran's death has brought the case to his acolytes, who have pressed for the trial to commence as soon as possible. Over the span of a few days, the accused, former-governor Breven, is brought to the hearings in a barely-living state. The genetors have had to place him in a live-sustainer unit... the
  3. RosenkrantzGM only thing keeping the barely recognizable nearly limbless form of the accused alive for the duration of the trial.
  4. RosenkrantzGM During the trial, a surprise testimony shakes the chamber, and Chidras society to the core... Loiic Breven gives testimony to the crimes of his father, detailing the web of lies spun in order to enrich himself and those nearest to him.
  5. RosenkrantzGM The case is resolved with brevity. Loiic Breven, with no evidence against him, is aquitted of all charges, while his semi-living father is found guilty of all charges, and sentenced to death. In truth, all that is required to carry out the sentence is the deactivation of the mysterious apparatus which takes over the vital functions his body can no longer maintain on its own.
  6. RosenkrantzGM The ascension to the Governorship happens almost immediately. A day after governor Breven is put to death, a younger and somehow wiser Governor Breven is granted the post by the Colonial Assembly. Despite security concerns, the function to which you are invited runs smoothly, with some cheer slowly making its way back into society with the mark of a new beginning.
  7. RosenkrantzGM "If it isn't too much trouble, Lord Chomun, we will have our Remembrancer visit you for a few hours. We intend fully to commemorate this chapter in our history by placing a statue of your Lordship and the fierce warrior that was Colonel Paweb, to remind us of the Emperor's answer to our prayers," Loiic comments, while holding up a glass of fine amasec.
  8. Makh_Chomun "That is fine..." Makh says while starting into his glass.
  9. Makh_Chomun To most people, they would think the massive man of a warlord is just thinking intently. To those who know him, however, he's not himself right now. He's dealing with his inner-turmoil.
  10. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz is sitting next to the large man, drinking and conversing with the nobility that is attending. Noticing the odd behavior he gives Makh a questioning look
  11. RosenkrantzGM "Now, my first round of edicts will be presented in two days' time. And so the matter of the... deposits, is one which will come up."
  12. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "I see, what will be happening is this. You will announce that the deposits will be awarded to a company, which I will give you the details of later, which will be under the dynasty's management...Discretely." he Emphasizes this. " We will have contacts in the Adaptus Machanicus come and set up the mining operation and begin collecting the Fuel, and you'll be happy to know that they will...
  13. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz ...have orders to employ many colonials to help bring some wealth back to this colony."
  14. Josef slips his oil mineral mixture through an air pressure suction device.
  15. RosenkrantzGM Governor Breven nods.
  16. RosenkrantzGM "I see. You would rather the Dynasty remain unnamed in the edict records."
  17. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "For safety concern."
  18. Makh_Chomun "A discrete measure. It could cause problems if the Dynasty had direct involvement in this kind of venture." Makh says this while still staring intently at his glass.
  19. RosenkrantzGM "Of course. A family with far-stretching influence must be discreet in its holdings. Very well, I will await word of the company I am to announce as the owners of the deposits, and announce the Promethium operation as under their control."
  20. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Very well, you are dismissed." he says, before turning to Makh
  21. RosenkrantzGM Loiic raises an eyebrow. The nobles around him stare at Friedrich.
  22. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "You seem uncharacteristically reserved my friend."
  23. RosenkrantzGM "You forget yourself, Captain."
  24. Makh_Chomun "Don't worry yourself, Lord Friedrich." He breaks contact with the glass to suck it all of it's contents down.
  25. RosenkrantzGM There is a sudden silence in the room.
  26. RosenkrantzGM A tense silence.
  27. Baine_Mort sits there drinking from his glass
  28. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Do I?" He gives Loiic a pointed look "Seeing the recent support we have given this colony... and yourself, I think that it'd be appropriate that I could ask for a private conversation with a companion, who led the war effort to save this great colony, on any whim while we stay here."
  29. RosenkrantzGM "Perhaps the amasec is of stronger vintage than you are accustomed to, Captain. Look around you. You are a guest in my reception. On my planet."
  30. RosenkrantzGM One of the nobles hovering around the Governor makes a gesture to a guard nearby.
  31. Makh_Chomun "Gentlemen, please behave yourselves, and though Friedrich has a point, he is still adjusting to his new station, so you'll forgive him if he's too abrasive."
  32. Makh_Chomun "Friedrich, we can talk of this later, aboard the Consequence, don't let your concern for me override your duty as representative of Rosenkrantz."
  33. RosenkrantzGM "Our debts, Warlord, were settled. Were they not? If your aid will be held against this colony indefinitely, then consider it unwelcome. Does the matter of which we have been discussing carry no value to you?"
  34. RosenkrantzGM "Dryd was my father's serpent. And it bit both the colony's enemies, and his own hand. Will you be mine, Captain?"
  35. Makh_Chomun frowns at the Governor. Makh says nothing however, this is not his responsibility.
  36. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "While the agreement we came to does favor our dynasty greatly, it also comes with a significant risk. You speak of your father as if he was some foreign being, rather than your blood. After the great effort we put into the colony's salvation, i'd rather not see it fall back into corruption. You were just recently promoted, so until I know that you are honest and worth your station, I have...
  37. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz ...little trust for you."
  38. RosenkrantzGM "Trust goes both ways. You, Captain," he emphasizes, "are dismissed."
  39. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "How long where you aware of your fathers corruption?"
  40. RosenkrantzGM "My testimony is a matter of Imperial record. You are welcome to make a request to the Arbites on the matter. Now, will you be needing an escort out?"
  41. RosenkrantzGM Several Guards now approach.
  42. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "No, I believe that the Lord Protector is more than capable of assuring my protection on my way out."
  43. Makh_Chomun gives a slight bow to the Governor and his Nobles before about-facing and escorts the heir-apparent out.
  44. RosenkrantzGM The room remains silent as you depart.
  45. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz rises and shrugs into his coat without a word
  46. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "He fared well Choman." he says as soon as they are out of earshot
  47. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "He didn't bulk under threat as much as I thought he would."
  48. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "He could prove to be competent."
  49. Baine_Mort follows Friedrich out
  50. Makh_Chomun grunts in reply.
  51. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Something on your mind?"
  52. Makh_Chomun "I am dealing with my responsibilities, in my own way. That's all."
  53. Baine_Mort walks along side Chomun
  54. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "My ears always open my friend, if you ever need to discuss."
  55. RosenkrantzGM A member of the House guard, a Vox-tech approaches.
  56. RosenkrantzGM "Lord-Captain, Lieutenant Titus wishes to speak with you."
  57. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Certainly."
  58. RosenkrantzGM He adjusts frequency relays on his vox, and gives you a nod.
  59. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "How may I be of assistance?"
  60. Makh_Chomun "Of course, young Friedrich." He grins wolfishly. "This young pup wants to lend an ear, oh how the times have changed."
  61. RosenkrantzGM +Captain. We have been hailed by Chidras authorities. Is everything alright?+
  62. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz +I have stirred the waters with the Governor tonight, I was pressuring him to see if he'd crack under threat. No worries, amends will be made soon
  63. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz .+
  64. RosenkrantzGM +We have been instructed to bring all personel back into orbit. We now require clearance for any landings in the future. I have made available a transport to bring you back to the Consequence.+
  65. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz +Understood.+
  66. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Think I went to far Choman?"
  67. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Still new at this, trying to figure out when to apply pressure."
  68. Baine_Mort remains quiet but node in response to Friedrich question to Choman.
  69. Josef clearly is still holding the glass with the mystery liquid from the event.
  70. Makh_Chomun "I think you may have been too heavy handed in there. But perhaps the Governor will see you were testing him. No matter."
  71. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Very well, Josef...what the blazes is that? No matter, could you set up an arrangement with the Adeptus or should I seek help elsewhere?"
  72. RosenkrantzGM Not far, you hear the tell-tale sound of retro-thrusters slowing a Cutter to a landing.
  73. Josef throws away the glass and says "TheAdeptus Mechanicus is always willing to help."
  74. RosenkrantzGM "My Lords, I have orders to get you to that transport without delay."
  75. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz scoffs "For a price like everyone else."
  76. RosenkrantzGM Turning the corner, onto one of the wider avenues of the colonial center, a Gun-Cutter has landed, ramp wide open. You notice that there are already passengers inside.
  77. RosenkrantzGM Dynastic aids, servants, specialists... all rounded up and ready to be taken off-world.
  78. Josef "Of course."
  79. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz nods and boards the cutter
  80. Makh_Chomun keeps himself near the entrance, he makes sure he's the last to board along with the vox-tech.
  81. Josef "The Rosenkrantz Dynasty and Mechanicus Cult have always been on good terms. The price of cooperation is always lowered for allies."
  82. RosenkrantzGM "If I may ask, sir, what's going on? Are we evacuating?" the voice is soft, meant to be discreet.
  83. RosenkrantzGM Lieutenant Downfield, you realize, sat on the second row, now leaning in to Chomun's ear.
  84. Makh_Chomun "Of a sorts, we've overstayed our welcome as is."
  85. Makh_Chomun "I'll fill you in later." He then winks.
  86. RosenkrantzGM She nods, and straps herself back into her seat.
  87. Baine_Mort straps himself in, "So whats next then Captain?"
  88. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Galaxy wide domination."
  89. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz looks disappointed as nobody laughs
  90. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Tough crowd."
  91. RosenkrantzGM The flight back up into orbit is rather quiet. No one speaks, all seemingly looking for answers in the bodylanguage of their Lords. Several of them were told to abandon their duties and return on a moment's notice, and there are many questions floating about.
  92. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz clears his throat
  93. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Fear not everyone, all is well for the time being."
  94. RosenkrantzGM Once you do arrive, the "non-essential" passengers are quickly escorted out of the bay, which has otherwise been cleared, save for the House Guard awaiting the arrival of the Lord-Captain. It appears security measures have been made tighter than usual.
  95. Makh_Chomun descends down the ramp first, he then takes his place to the right of the ramp as he awaits everyone else to disembark.
  96. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz disembarks quickly and heads for the bridge
  97. RosenkrantzGM The sharp unisoned steps of a dozen of the House Guarde echo throughout the long hallways up to the Bridge, where the escort is finally broken up just before its entrance.
  98. RosenkrantzGM You find Lieutenant Titus busy at the Astropathic Comms Station.
  99. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Lieutenant, anything new?"
  100. RosenkrantzGM Titus snaps a quick salute.
  101. Makh_Chomun follows along, of course.
  102. RosenkrantzGM "Lady Gillam's informants have confirmed the presence of the relics being sold on Footfall's Obsidian Emporial, Captain."
  103. Makh_Chomun "Ho ho." Makh rubs his chin in thought.
  104. RosenkrantzGM Titus nods.
  105. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz raises an eyebrow "I think we should investigate."
  106. RosenkrantzGM "They were suspected to have appeared on the market, and were confirmed to be the artifacts from the vessels just today. We have cross-referenced with the missionaries, who confirm the information we have."
  107. Baine_Mort Mort smiles, "So we are going to head to Footfall then Captain?"
  108. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "What information do we have on the artifacts themselves?"
  109. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "It's very likely Mr.Mort."
  110. Makh_Chomun "We could do with a stop to Footfall, as is."
  111. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Give the Governor the chance to cool off."
  112. Baine_Mort "Well then Captain, as I told Titus I know a good chunk of info about Footfall."
  113. RosenkrantzGM "They appear to be items of great importance to the faithful of the Expanse. They are linked to quasi-saintly figures upon which several missionary orders have been based. Including that of the missionaries we rescued."
  114. Josef "Lord-Captain, a moment of time in private."
  115. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz rubs his temples "One at a time gentlemen."
  116. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Continue Titus."
  117. RosenkrantzGM "They are also highly coveted. Extravagantly priced in the relic-trade of Footfall. If their true nature is made known... not 'if'... once their true value is found out, there will be no shortage of eager bidders."
  118. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "True Nature?"
  119. Makh_Chomun "We could make high friends these orders if we helped. Missionaries can be very useful."
  120. Josef checks his data-slate
  121. Baine_Mort "Actually if I may say something captain."
  122. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Of course."
  123. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Certainly."
  124. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Say more in fact, I need all the advice I can get."
  125. RosenkrantzGM "Their links to the revered figures in Koronus. Footfall has no shortage of pilgrims and adherents to all of these orders and cults. No doubt the vermin who did the raiding have no idea of their true worth, but appraisals will happen. And as soon as their connection to these fabled missionaries is known, we can expect them to be swiftly sold off."
  126. Baine_Mort "When a Rouge Trader is ever in Footfall they rule the station."
  127. Baine_Mort "This is based off and old law of FootFall."
  128. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Better get there quickly then."
  129. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Interesting, thank you Mort."
  130. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Make way for footfall."
  131. Josef wait patiently.
  132. Makh_Chomun "What's our ETA to footfall?"
  133. RosenkrantzGM Titus clears his throat.
  134. RosenkrantzGM "Captain..." he motions for the command throne.
  135. RosenkrantzGM "If you please."
  136. RosenkrantzGM The Consequence's Command Baton rests on the seat.
  137. Baine_Mort "
  138. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Ah yes..." me makes his way over and sits down, taking the Baton
  139. RosenkrantzGM Techpriests approach, surrounding Friedrich.
  140. RosenkrantzGM They commence a rite of bonding, tapping into the command throne through Impulse Unit slots on its base, and communciating with the machine spirit of the Baton.
  141. Baine_Mort "Captain, you should also know this, Emporium is really the middle man so the buyer and seller are left anonymous. What will be known is what items are being sold and any items that are sold it will be impossible to know who the buyer is."
  142. RosenkrantzGM The red robed priests, then step back, and holo-displays light up around the command throne.
  143. RosenkrantzGM ++GREETINGS, CAPTAIN//// LOGGING FIRST ENTRY: LORD FRIEDRICH VON ROSENKRANTZ++
  144. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "...Greeting...."
  145. RosenkrantzGM +What is our heading, captain?+ speakers communicate, as a rune with the symbol of the Navis Nobilite lights up on the holo displays.
  146. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Footfall."
  147. RosenkrantzGM +The... Astronomican is oddly stable, for this region. It will not last. When do we depart?+
  148. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Now."
  149. RosenkrantzGM +Warp transition estimated to...+
  150. RosenkrantzGM +60 days, Captain...+
  151. Josef "Lord-Captain, I have a proposition for you."
  152. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Begin travel." he says, before turning to Josef "Yes?"
  153. Josef "It concerns the planet Chidra. It should be discussed in private."
  154. RosenkrantzGM Titus: "Helm! Set course to the edge of the system! Await input from navigator tower as soon as we're clear of the gravity well! Enginarium! Full speed!"
  155. RosenkrantzGM Alerts ring throughoug, calling all hands to stations.
  156. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "How privately?"
  157. Josef "With persons with whom you trust."
  158. RosenkrantzGM Titus approaches the Command Throne. "I can take it form here, Captain, should you wish."
  159. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz nods to Choman, Mort, and Titus before heading for his chambers
  160. Josef follows the newly appointed Lord-Captain.
  161. Makh_Chomun follows along.
  162. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz arrives in his chambers, sitting in his favorite chair before shaking off his coat
  163. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Now, begin Mr.Josef."
  164. RosenkrantzGM While spacious, the captain's chambers are by no means opulant. The character of the Consequence is that of a warship, through and through.
  165. Josef "The Promethium fields of Chidras will require new structures and factories to operate at 100% effectiveness."
  166. Makh_Chomun finds a wall to lean on while folding his arms.
  167. Baine_Mort leans against a near by wall.
  168. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Understandably so, is the Adeptus not willing?"
  169. Josef "Without the aid of an Explorator fleet, we have untouched resources waiting to be exploited."
  170. Josef "The Adeptus Mechanicus is always willing to assist, but there is always a cost."
  171. RosenkrantzGM The chamber rattles, and the sound of metal groaning and shifting fills the room with a low bass tone.
  172. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Their price?"
  173. RosenkrantzGM The engines are now firing at full capacity.
  174. Josef "The cost of transporting material and labor to build is quite expensive. However, we have the promethium. The Mechanicus is always in need of fuel resources."
  175. Josef "If we part of some of our supply, we could get a Adeptus Mechanicus fleet to build what we need."
  176. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "How much of our supply?"
  177. Josef "We would have to negoigate it with a fleet. Though in honestly, after payment for the building projects. The Adeptus Mechanicus will be interested in the fields in exchange for profits and/or potential favors."
  178. Josef "The nearest Explorator fleet belongs to Magos Juris Konstantyn Ambolic."
  179. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "I see, I'm more than willing to negotiate."
  180. Josef "Shall I get in contact with the Magos Ambolic?"
  181. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Do you know anything of him?"
  182. Josef "A very powerful and zealous heretek hunter with connections to several Inquisitors and the Higher rankings of the Adeptus Mechanicus."
  183. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Perfect, do get in contact with him."
  184. Josef "He is not an individual who should be crossed, but is the closest fleet in relation to this sector."
  185. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "I have a great tract record."
  186. Josef "My Lord-Captain, I have seen the opposite of it today."
  187. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Sarcasm Josef."
  188. Josef "Pardon? Oh, of course."
  189. Makh_Chomun "I'll be sure to put a clamp on him if we have to deal with the Magos personally."
  190. Josef "I will get in contact with the Magos as soon as possible."
  191. RosenkrantzGM Warning Klaxxons alert the crew of impending warp transition.
  192. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Thanks you Josef."
  193. Josef "My pleasure, Lord-Captain."
  194. RosenkrantzGM Alerts ring on, warning of transition in a countdown, until you are at the point of just seconds from transition.
  195. RosenkrantzGM All throughout the ship, ratings, specialists, and officers alike, all go about their rituals and prayers of protection to the Emperor.
  196. RosenkrantzGM Transition itself is never pleasant... a deep emptiness in the base of your stomach, a sharp pressure on the back of your skull... if you're lucky.
  197. RosenkrantzGM The Lord-Protector, however, is not so lucky. Suddenly, a deep fear of anything that shines, be it a precious stone, or a polished metal badge sinks into his psyche... the phobia is suddenly very apparent.
  198. RosenkrantzGM More sinisterly, perhaps, is the case of the Genetor... a murderous rage begins to build... bloodlust never far form his mind. Even the thought of the patients under his care is clouded with a deep wish to maime.
  199. Josef in an angered stats and tries to contact Genetor Lathe MS-00006.
  200. RosenkrantzGM This, and many more hallucinations and effects are felt by members of the crew... yet nothing far from the expected whenever traveling through hell itself.
  201. Makh_Chomun Makh Chomun upon seeing this, and remembering the last time something this awful happened locks himself in his room, using on the bare minimum of light to work by. He informs the Captain and bridge of the problem and tells them Downfield will be his voice, eyes, and ears until this spell passes.
  202. RosenkrantzGM A burst of binary informs Josef that his colleague is attending to patients.
  203. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz erupts into uncontrollable laughter upon hearing the news
  204. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz +Thought you were a tough guy.+
  205. Makh_Chomun +I'm sure your uncle has told you of the last time we experienced warp problems. I'll take this time to revise the House Guard and pray.+
  206. Josef sends a blood culling scream and transmits of the lasts fragments of it through the vox.
  207. Friedrich_Rosenkrantz "Madhouse Titus, it's a madhouse."
  208. Baine_Mort "Well Friedrich, seems we are sane for the most part." Mort says with a laugh.
  209. Josef angily says +Chief Medical Officer Zulkar Ima report!+
  210. RosenkrantzGM Throughout the voyage, Lt. Downfield busies herself with a routine of vetting, testing, training, and gathering information on various groups of armsmen each day. At the end of the watch, she sends her reports directly to the Lord-Protector to revise and weed out candidates for the House Guard. This is a process that lasts throughout the full 60 days or travel.
  211. RosenkrantzGM "In my years of service, Captain, I have seen much worse. We should consider ourselves fortunate."
  212. RosenkrantzGM Titus appears to think back on memories fresh in his mind.
  213. RosenkrantzGM +Brother Josef. Reporting.+
  214. Josef +Inform brother Zakoo that he is responsible for the care and reattachment of the Twistcatcher's missing arm. In addition, Junior Medical Officer Oliver Scatter is to be incharge of trying care of PortKAT-34324. I will be leaving my post to iron out some issues." +
  215. RosenkrantzGM +Issues. Brother Josef has suffered cognitive malfunctions?+
  216. Josef +Potentially. My condition is unstable ever since we have enter the warp.+
  217. RosenkrantzGM +Servitorization required?+
  218. Josef +That will not be needed.+
  219. RosenkrantzGM +Preparing station, should it become a necessity.+
  220. Josef +I will take the Twistcatcher's position as my new temporary position.+
  221. RosenkrantzGM +Servitorization recommended.+
  222. Josef +By the Omnissiah, I will replace your cortex implants. This is Josef. Over and out.+
  223. RosenkrantzGM +Report to servitorization plant when ready. Zulkar Ima returning to duties.+
  224. Josef starts to head towards the lower levels of the ships and 'check up' on the mutant habitat.
  225. Baine_Mort begins checking in what his gunnery captains to check on the statues of the crew and the guns.
  226. RosenkrantzGM Gunnery captains report, if anything, restlessness. Generally a good thing, to be sure, though they recommend firing drills be conducted in order to keep the crews and ratings sharp in their skills.
  227. Baine_Mort give the orders to run firing drills over the next two months.
