  1. [18:55] Taking the intuitive, Uma jumped at the opportunity to teach this young teen about the first steps in how to manipulate mana. Deciding that the Library was to formal for her style of doing things, the Blind Tutor led the Lyulf down into the basement.
  2.
  3. Though Uma was unphased by the darkness, Lyulf quickly found herself engulfed in darkness, and unable to escape Uma's grasp around his wrist. With an audible;
  4.
  5. SnAP!
  6.
  7. Illumination flickered throughout the entire room, as flames crackled to life on fixed torches on the walls. The basement was a mess, to be sure. Filled with long lost artifacts, statues of unknown figures, some decrepit and missing limbs. And directly in front of them, a stone podium. This was definitely not the best spot to conduct a private session, but Uma cared very little.
  8.
  9. Lowering her hand back to her side, Uma would pivot on her foot to face Lyulf's direction. "Here we are!Starfall Academy's lowest level. Reminds me of home." Inhaling sharply, Uma cracked a mischievous grin.
  10.
  11. "Stand on the platform, please." Extending her left arm out, she would point to the podium in front of them. "Stand at its centre, and we will begin."
  12. (Uma)
  13. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  14.
  15. [18:55] Lyulf didn't know much about the Academy other than it was a place where you could gain an education. Supposedly the best education on Esshar, but that wasn't much to boast about. After all the Empire didn't have any true educations facilities itself built into Achyon. Aside from the guild-training cadres but that was so clannish that it seemed akin to barbarism to most Barsburgians. He wasn't one of those per se but his grandfather was and for the time being the old man kept him fed.
  16.
  17. He was getting something like a tour whether Uma meant for that to be the case or not was beyond him. Still, he know knew where the Library was and as they dived deeper into the bowels of the academy? Well, he got a feeling of where the basement was. As they walked down the steps he couldn't help but grow uncomfortable at the sheer darkness. He almost jerked away when he felt a grip on his risk, he DID flinch away when the sound of snapping echoed through the chamber.
  18.
  19. His eyes closing harshly against the burst of illumination that left him dazed and confused. After a few moments though his eyes began to adjust and his cerulean gaze trailed across the room. Taking in all the various shapes and sizes within. Old pieces of art, relics, and he had a feeling just plain garbage.
  20.
  21. His focus shifted when Uma let go of him. "I expected something less... Moist and damp." The grin didn't go unnoticed but for the moment he didn't have much say in what they were doing. After all he needed the help and no one else seemed eager to explain how to harness their magic.
  22.
  23. "What's that got to do with magic?" As he spoke his focus shifted towards the podium that she was referencing. "...Hel, here goes nothing." Walking over to the stone they'd scramble onto it. Almost hoping towards the center. When he stopped he just spun back around and looked to Uma.
  24.
  25. "Now what?"
  26. (Lyulf Yayle)
  27. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  28.
  29. [18:55] Lifeless, milky-white hues seemed to be glued to Lyulf's form. Following him wherever he went. Through the vibrations that they passively produced, Uma was able to witness what was happening at all times. Acting as a type of build in sonar for the woman.
  30.
  31. Folding her arms, Uma would continue to grin in a mischievous manner. "First, we're going to talk about Mana, and the Circuit." Pausing momentarily, she would raise a index finger.
  32.
  33. "Every person that has ever had the blessing of being able to cast and wield magic, has had Mana, and therefor, Magic Circuits. There are about three-thousand Magic Circuits in your body, that carry Mana through them. You SHOULD, if you have even the slightest bit of magical potential, be able to visualize your own Magic Circuits."
  34.
  35. Nodding, she would close her eyes, as if that had any real purpose. "Closing your eyes, supposedly is the best way to visualize your circuits. In your head, you should beable to create a map out of your circuits.. Soo.."
  36.
  37. Pausing, Uma would open her eyes again, locking onto the teen's form immediately, as if they had never stopped staring. "Before we are able to continue. I would like you to map out your own circuitry."
  38.
  39. Leaning a little to the left, Uma would simply continue to stare blankly at the boy. Waiting..
  40. (Uma)
  41. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  42.
  43. [18:55] "You say it like its so easy."
  44.
  45. His voice sounded slightly bitter at that. Perhaps it was easy and he just wasn't very adept at manipulating his mana? It was possible, he'd seen others around his age walking around like demi-gods with their magic. Yet, this was good right? Maybe it was just a hold up from lack of knowledge on his part.
  46.
  47. "Three thousand, three-thousand individual nodes within a magical circulatory system. Not unlike one of the old runetablets circuit board. Should be easy let me just... Think about it." As he spoke the youth let out a nervous sigh. Then his eyes closed and he went quiet.
  48.
  49. The world became a calmer place when it was shut out from his focus. There wasn't any piles of junk to distract him, no half-broken statues, or worn down relics. Just the sounds of his own heartbeat, the crackling of fire, and Uma of course. So, it would mean all he had to do was calm down and focus?
  50.
  51. Right, he could do that. Focus... He's focusing now! For ten minutes he was quite. Seeming to look inwards at the wonders that his magical potential was showcasing to him. Gazing upon the myriad sparks of divinity within his very soul.
  52.
  53. "I don't get this what the hel's supposed to even be happening!?" The irritation in their voice echoed outwards as they opened their eyes and looked at Uma. Defiantly his arms rose to cross over his chest. Like a petulant child who'd just been told he wasn't the fastest runner. "There's got to be some trick right? Do, I need to be sleep deprived or something?"
  54.
  55. There was a brief and rising panic in his breast that perhaps he just wasn't blessed with magical potential. Surely that wasn't possible right? His parents had both been Magi in their own right. That's how it was supposed to work!
  56. (Lyulf Yayle)
  57. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  58.
  59. [18:55] Seems that Uma was not exactly explaining this in a way that the young lad could comprehend. This was her first time going about teaching someone who had completely zero prior knowledge about magic, and its manipulation. Starting from scratch is hard..
  60.
  61. With a click of her tongue against the hard palate of her mouth, Uma unfolded her arms and took two big steps forward. Coming to a stand at the base of the podium.
  62.
  63. "Easy now.. No one gets it on their first try." Understanding the plight that Lyulf was going through, she tried to put her past experiences into an educational lesson.
  64.
  65. "Most budding Magi have a hard time viewing their circuitry, so don't worry, it's not the end of the world.. I didn't show any magical potential until I was like fifteen.. And now I'm one of the strongest people to have been in the last graduating class!" Nodding, she would extend her hand toward the boy, palm facing upward, a strange, red ruinic symbol shined at the centre of her hand..
  66.
  67. "I'm going to apply a rune onto you that should increase your mana flow. This will assist your circuits opening up, making it easier for you to view them.. Should you accept, place your hand against my hand.
  68.
  69. Should Lyulf place his hand onto Uma's, he will immediately feel a change inside him. His circuits felt less restricted, and more attuned to his mind rather than body. Should he have ANY magical potential whatsoever, he will at least be able to feel the Mana flow.
  70.
  71. Grinning wide, she would tilt her head to the left. What would be the outcome?
  72. (Uma)
  73. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  74.
  75. [18:55] Though, it wasn't inherently obvious at first glance? Lyulf clearly had something of a temper when things weren't going his way. So, when she just told him to calm down the immediate answer was a huff of annoyance. Still, he was going to try and do as she instructed. Even if it wasn't what he wanted to do!
  76.
  77. Her personal example echoed in his mind for a few moments. No magical potential until she was fifteen and she new magi struggled to see their magical circuits. Wait, hadn't she said earlier that it was the simplest thing to do? "I thought it was simple." He muttered the words as she rose her hand. Honestly? Well, the symbol was off putting. It was a strange sight and he was clearly not eager to let her touch him or cast a spell on him.
  78.
  79. After all what if it disintegrated him or something! Still, she explained and he listened. A rune to assist with opening up his circuitry. Okay, that didn't seem so bad. It was basically cheating to get to the result they wanted faster. Was that the route he was willing to take?
  80.
  81. Shortcuts?
  82.
  83. The feeling of his hand pressing into hers probably answered that internal debate. Strength was strength. Progress was progress. Those were simple facts within Achyon. The sudden jolt of magical flux in his body brought what could be described as a yelp of surprise from the boy!
  84.
  85. "By the coalescence what was that!?" His panic spiked as his heart pounded. The sound of drums in his ears but as he felt the shift inside. Well, he couldn't see a map per se but he felt as if there was something MORE to him.
  86.
  87. "I feel different but like... I just had a full meal and a good nights sleep different. Not I'm a life-shaping demigod of magic different. Is that how its supposed to feel?"
  88. (Lyulf Yayle)
  89. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  90.
  91. [18:55] * You have been awarded 10 Roleplay Points! *
  92. [18:55] Snow-colored brows turned inward, confusion evident on her face when the first year attempted to quote Uma. There was nothing simple about this process. Nor had she promised it was simple in the first place! Magi are a dime a thousand. Legitimately the one percent.
  93.
  94. Magic is much like Life itself. Hard. Shortcuts sometimes are needed in order to progress even the slightest bit. Which is why it was deemed necessary in this case!
  95.
  96. "Simple? Oh no-.." She shook her head. "Consider yourself lucky, the slightest bit of Mana you have coursing through your circuits is ten times more than ninety-nine percent of the entire planet's Non-Magi population." Nodding sagely, she would grin, hand still outstretched, not taken just yet.
  97.
  98. "There is nothing simple about being a Magi. Everything is hard. From the very BASIC understanding of mapping out your own circuitry. To mastering a magic tree.." With that, she inhaled sharply. "Anyhow!.."
  99.
  100. With that out of the way, Lyulf reached down, and placed his hand upon Uma's. Pulsing mana into the rune, the Tutor fired small bits of her own mana through his circuits, acting as a type of guide for the boy's own mana to follow. Seeing as it was an intruder of sorts, it would have been easy to take note of!
  101.
  102. Within a few seconds, Uma had mapped out his entire circuitry! If Lyulf was actually feeling the presence of Uma's mana of course!.. One thing was for certain. He was indeed a Magi.
  103.
  104. When he retracted his hand, Uma did the same. Grinning ear to ear. "Well, congratulations! - You're a Magi! A weak one, but still a Magi." She then shot him a thumbs up! "You may not be some kind of all-powerful Demi-God, but you have the POTENTIAL to be one! And I can assist you further in that regard.. Maybe even give you a taste of what it means to wield true power.. And maybe even use the Magic of a God.. But we'll see what the future holds!" Gifting the boy the seeds of corruption, she would leave it to brew for now.
  105.
  106. "So! With that out of the way, I think I'm going to end the session here! If you meet me back here tomorrow, around the same time, maybe a bit earlier, I'll be able to cram in the next part of the lesson.
  107.
  108. - Creating a change in the Mana's Form! Hope to see you here."
  109. (Uma)
  110. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  111.
  112. [18:55] As she explained how the process was going to be. Painful, filled with effort and challenge? Well, a small part of Lyulf considered just giving up and returning back to the factories of Achyon. A much larger part of him felt a rush of excitement at the possibilities! After all if he could wield his own strength and eventually take the magic of a god as Uma hinted?
  113.
  114. Why, that would make him the strongest there was right? He'd never have to worry about being kicked around again. Still, it took a lot of work and he'd have to be sharp about it. Push himself further and further as each day passed. Could he do that? No, a better question flittered through his mind. Did he even have a choice?
  115.
  116. "Yea, I get it. Lets do this lady." It was then he realized he didn't recall their name. Though, in an effort to slide past that little fact he just rolled past it. "I'll try and be around the grounds earlier. Now that I actually have a reason to be here that shouldn't be hard you know?" He paused for a moment and stepped off the platform. Still not sure why he had to stand on it to begin with.
  117.
  118. "I'm Lyulf, Yayle specifically but Lyulf all the same. Thanks for the help... Both now and earlier. Anyways... Bye." He struggled with the politeness of it but well she deserved thanks at-least. Even if he hated giving them to anyone.
  119. (Lyulf Yayle)
