- Wildcard - Today at 6:19 PM
- How long ago
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:19 PM
- like 5 minutes
- Wildcard - Today at 6:20 PM
- You've owned the domain for 5 mins or you have installed mybb on it 5 mins ago?
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:20 PM
- ive owned the domain for months but the mybb i changed the domain 5 mins ago
- Wildcard - Today at 6:20 PM
- Explain "changed the domain"
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:21 PM
- Cuz it was on my subdomain but i decided to change it to my real domain in the admin options
- Wildcard - Today at 6:22 PM
- Okay. So when you say "it won't work" do you get an error message? blank page? when you go to domain/index.php
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:23 PM
- this
- errrrror.PNG
- 240.89 KB
- @Wildcard u there
- Wildcard - Today at 6:25 PM
- Yes, I was trying to check the domain to see if it is down everwhere
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:25 PM
- the sites in beta so dont judge
- pls
- Wildcard - Today at 6:26 PM
- Sorry I have to ask so many questions, but:
- Tell me exactly what you did step-by-step so that I can try ofigure out what got changed to make this occur
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:27 PM
- I went to the admin config and went to the thing were you edit like domain admin account etc and changed it 2 http://www.wolfnation.us/forums
- then it stopped working
- so i came to the discord
- Wildcard - Today at 6:29 PM
- Okay now I understand. The setting you changed doesn't transfer the forum to a need address FOR YOU-- it is the setting you change after you move all of the forum files to the new domain.
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:29 PM
- its under the same hos
- host
- Wildcard - Today at 6:30 PM
- Yes, but since it is on a new domain the files will have to be copied to the appropriate directory-- in this case, the forum root
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:31 PM
- What do you mean by that
- Wildcard - Today at 6:31 PM
- Okay, let me try to explain with my website as an example.
- My website is www.rantcentralforums.com
- The files for m,y forum (base domain I just typed) are located on my host at: public_html folder
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:32 PM
- so are mine lol well i have a folder in that folder
- Wildcard - Today at 6:32 PM
- let me finish please
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:32 PM
- k
- Wildcard - Today at 6:33 PM
- My testing site is: testing.rantcentralforums.com-- the files for that site are located at public_html/testing
- Some host are different though, some will have another folder in the root name .testing or 'testing-sub so you need to check with Filezilla and locate the correct place for your files.
- [done]
- The FIRST thing you should do is set the setting you changed back. Then make a complete backup. And then you can safely atttempt the move and if something goes wrong you can (or someone can help you) restore your site.
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:37 PM
- But I cant access admin again after i login in it just brings me back 2 the login page
- Wildcard - Today at 6:38 PM
- You will have to us FTP to edit inc/settings.php
- Change the cookieX setting back to the subdomain and the login-- and then the first thing you do is go change the settings in ACP and save them to update the database
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:39 PM
- but it says /**\
- DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE, PLEASE USE
- THE SETTINGS EDITOR
- ****/
- Wildcard - Today at 6:39 PM
- I understand that but this is standard procedure for cookie problems
- Ask another MyBB staff and they will tell you the same-- or just Google can not log in to MyBB
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:40 PM
- it wont let me edit it when i try in filezilla it opens chrome in a none edit window and if i download it doesnt work
- Wildcard - Today at 6:40 PM
- download it-- make the changes-- re upload it
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:41 PM
- it wont let me download
- Wildcard - Today at 6:41 PM
- Why not?
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:41 PM
- Status: Starting download of /public_html/Forums/inc/settings.php
- Error: Failed to open "C:\settings.php" for writing
- Error: File transfer failed

- You need to contact your host and make sure there aren't problems on their end-- I just checked and you domain is down:
- Is wolfnation.us down?
- It's not just you! wolfnation.us looks down from here.
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:42 PM
- https://wolfnation.000webhostapp.com/ worksd
- Wildcard - Today at 6:43 PM
- hmmm
- What FTP program are you using?
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:43 PM
- filezilla
- Wildcard - Today at 6:45 PM
- I think we need to get someone else involved-- I don't really know what is the matter exactly.
- Just make a thread on the forums and that way maybe someone who knows more about the situation can give some advice.
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:45 PM
- what do i put tho just copy this conversation or something
- the domain is back up
- Wildcard - Today at 6:47 PM
- Title the thread Can No Longer Access My Forum and in the thread describe EXACTLY what you changed and then describe EXACTLY what happens now. The provide a link to you OLD forum location (that used to work)
- yes I see
- SoulWolfX - Today at 6:47 PM
- ok
- ill do it
