  Growing up Inhye suffered from bullying in school while also being abused at home which led to her depression. She was often made fun of when she went to primary school in australia because she was a foreigner even though she was fluent in english already. Having attempted suicide multiple times, the school was willing to pay for her therapy and for her psychologist, however, Inhye’s father spent it all on liquor.

As soon as Inhye reached third grade, Inhye Developed a passion for dancing and singing, she had high hopes of auditioning but waited until she was a suitable age. When she was 14, Inhye told her parents she wanted to audition but her father refused and her mother had no choice but to comply, even her so-called friends laughed at her and said she would never make it. But after school one day, she snuck out and auditioned for SM entertainment and a few days later she was told she got in. After she auditioned rumors spread around the school that she did and suddenly everyone tried to befriend her and that’s when Inhye realized she could only trust herself, thus being the reason why she has trust issues

 When Inhye became a trainee she didn’t expect it to be so hard, dieting was easy for her because she had a very fast metabolism and a small figure but making sure she was good enough for their standards and to be able to debut took her more than 6 years. After almost 4 years of training Inhye was on the verge of leaving when Yerii of red velvet came up to her and said “Unnie! Don’t quit! You are a strong and beautiful girl and I have never seen any of those other trainees work as hard as you do! I promise you, if you do not give up, you will have your time.”
