Season 27 IM Seeding Predictions

SEASON 27 IM SEEDING PREDICTIONS

predicting seeding for playoffs. I'm using last seasons method for tiebreakers (i.e., most rounds for win seeding). the records are (obviously) predictions.

1. mr_popo (15-1)
scouts - John_Milter & n3 / soldiers - Tambbo & mu / demoman - vaati / medic - meyy

the only possible game they could lose would be to Kings Crew, which I think is highly unlikely they get upset by them. they're looking like a lock for the #1 seed.

they're the team to beat, with their only loss being to The Hokages. they 5-0d both OMNI5 and Sporadic,  and have only dropped 2 rounds outside of their only loss. they are massive favorites to win IM.

2. Sporadic eSports (14-2)
scouts - s1ke & legit / soldiers - hayes & Goku / demoman - ambroon / medic - Dagger

we are the team that is the most likely to drop a match to either Happybois or kronge realm, but I think with our wins over OMNI5, back in the habit, and Velocity Black, we are the clear favorites. Howver, I almost guarentee we drop rounds, which should definitively give OMNI5 the round advantage (unless we tiebreak using H2H, which wasn't used last season).

I think we've suprised a lot of people with how good we've performed, and while I think we are the weakest team in the top 8 on paper, we've also proven that we can beat the top teams (outside of popo). we have also proven we can get absolutely destroyed by other teams as well, so we're defintely the wildcard to either make grand finals or lose 5-0 in R1 of playoffs.

3. OMNI5 eSports (13-3)
scouts - cukei & MC / soldiers - froot & unskilled / demoman - fygg / medic - Pops

back in the habit will likely be a close match, but I'm favoring OMNI5 in the matchup. other than that, they should be able to sweep the rest of the season with relative ease. both OMNI5 and Sporadic are tied in RF, so it switches to RA, which OMNI5 will almost certainly hold the advantage in.

this team is filled with talent, and although they had to replace kawa, this lineup with froot is potentially better. I think there is an argument to be made that they are the second best team, but at the same time, they also seem to not always play to their potential. with that said, they are still extremely good even if they're not playing at their absolute best.

4. Carpool Cucks (13-3)
scouts - Uber & ebsikl / soldiers - J4v(?) & Milan(?) / demoman - Georgi / medic - Amulet

I'm adding question marks to their soldiers because I'm not sure what their final lineup is. with that said, they're  likely to sweep their schedule. they're going to be sizable favorites against BLANC and Coon Platoon, and massive favorites against the rest of the schedule. they're very far behind in rounds, though, which means The Hokages will finish ahead of them, but they should still manage an impressive #5 seed.

I don't think this team is as good as their 13-3 record implies, especially with their potential roster switch up. they did 5-0 back in the habit, but outside of that, they don't have any wins against the other top teams (unless a ffw on VBlack counts). you could honestly argue they are they are one of the weakest team that will make the postseason. with that said, they're still a solid team, and I think they will be competitive against the other teams

5. The Hokages (12-4)
scouts - Phone & Air / soldiers - zheep & meatball / demoman - stock / medic - caboose

this may be controversial, because this ranking implies Hokages > Velocity Black. However, The Hokages absolutely destroyed Kings Crew, Sporadic, and Happybois, as well as upsetting mr_popo 5-3. I think they're going to be the favorites to beat Velocity, and sweep the rest of their schedule.

with zheep in for pocket, and Air on scout, this roster is looking SUPER good, and I really want the mr_popo rematch to happen. I also would love to see the OMNI5 play them.

6. Velocity Black (12-4)
scouts - Ghostac & Rikachu / soldiers - dylan & maelstrahm / demoman - Hellbent / medic - Drake

with VBlack's forfeit losses and roster replacements, it's looking like they're going to drop to #7. as mentioned before, I think The Hokages will close out a tight win against them, but they should still manage to win they're remaining games, though  Kings Crew will be a tough challenge.

this roster is still immensely talented, but how motivated and coordinated will they be to close out the season strong? imo, not  too much, especially if their first game of playoffs is a tough challenge.

7. Back in the Habit (12-4)
scouts - throne & yosh / soldiers - SideWays Whoppi Goldberg & ranga / demoman - Max / medic - feces

this team could possibly upset OMNI5, but it's unlikely. on the other side, if Kings Crew new roster comes together nicely, they could potentially upset BINH, but I'm not putting money on it. because of VBlack's forfeit losses, BINT will hold the round advantage, and I think they go 3-1 over their next four games.

while individually all very talented, this team doesn't scrim enough to be reliably competitive against the top teams. I think if they really tried and scrimmed a lot before playoffs, they could be competitive with all the teams here (besides popo).

8. Kings Crew (9-7)
scouts - pauldogg & dolphinrider / soldiers - okiewakker and phelon / demoman - exile / medic - lucrative

brutal end of schedule for a revamped, super talented team. facing Back in the Habit, mr_popo, and Vecloity Black  is a rough way to end your schedule. with that said, they have by far the most RF out of all the teams that will likely go 9-7. however, it is possible for HappyBois, Kronge Realm, or Coon Platoon to upset some teams and go 10-6, but I would say it's just as likely for Kings Crew to upset some teams on their schedule to also go 10-6. for now, I'm saying they make playoffs going 9-7.

this teams really, ultra talented, and I really want to see how their schedule plays out. while I think they will only manage a win against The Gugs, I think VBlack and OMNI5 will be close games, and Back in The Habit is honestly close to a coinflip (though I'm favoring BITH).

EDIT: 3/6/2018: Updated for Back in the Habit > OMNI5 eSports. If all else holds true, this drops OMNI5 eSports to the #3 seed, while Back in the Habit maintains a strong hold on the #6 seed.

Even if VBlack > The Hokages, Velocity Black will still only hold the #7 seed because of the RF, and The Hokages will hold the RF advantage over BITH, which would only drop them to #5.

EDIT: 3/8/2018: Updated for VBlack 5-0 over The Hokages. I'm still expecting both teams to win their remaining games, but seeding will change.

Carpool Cucks now have a hard grip on the #4 seed if they can manage to win out, which should be fairly easy. If Back in the Habit also win out, The Hokages will LIKELY NOT lose the round advantage over them because BINT will get a forfeit win for their last game. If both teams win out, they both go 12-4, but Hokages RF is 59. BINT RF is 57, which means Hokages should get #5 seed. UNFORTUNATELY, if VBLACK wins out, their RF will be 58, with a record of 12-4! In other words;

#4 Carpool Cucks (13-3)
#5 The Hokages (12-4, RF 59)
#6 Velocity Black (12-4, RF 58)
#7 Back in the Habit (12-4, RF 57)

(this is assuming all of these teams win out, each of them gaining 5 rounds from each game. however, BINT will only gain two rounds because one of the teams they play is dead)
