8/30/24-9/4/24 Update, day 919-924 of Russian invasion.


Belarus/Western Border:

Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk said that the country is ready to join the restoration of historic buildings in Lviv, which were damaged by the morning shelling on September 4. The strikes in Lviv hit a residential house, killing an entire family aside from the father, and damaging a number of historic buidings.

RU shelled Lviv on the 26th with cluster munition containing missiles. Polish jets were raised to alert and flying over E Poland during the strike.

A UA parliamentarian from Odesa fled to Moldova.

Since the beginning of 2024, 23.7 million people have crossed the state border of Ukraine in both directions.

Romania approved the transfer of a Patriot Air Defense system to Ukraine, in its parliament.

UA wiped out two RU bot farms operating in W UA, focused on making fake accounts registered in UA to spread disinfo.

As of September 2024, about 1,800 schools in Ukraine do not have shelters.


Kyiv/Central Ukraine:

On August 30th, UA intercepted 12/18 Shaheds and 0/1 ballistic missiles.

On August 31st, UA intercepted or jammed 49/52 drones, 3 went to Belarus, and 0/5 ballistic missiles.

On September 2nd, UA intercepted 20/23 Shaheds, 9/20 ballistic missiles and 13/14 cruise missiles. Some fragments fell on a mosque in Kyiv.

On Sept 4th, UA intercepted 22/29 drones, 4/8 cruise missiles, and 3/5 ballistic missiles.

A UA F-16 pilot crashed and was killed during the large RU missile barrage on the 26th. The UA Chief of the Air Force was removed from command shortly thereafter, and replaced by a lower ranking Air force general.

The head of the UA energy conglomerate Volodymyr Kudrytskyi was dismissed, under allegedly politically motivated concerns.

UA Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who submitted his resignation on September 3, will focus on strengthening Ukraine's relations with NATO.

UA reported that over half of energy infrastructure has been damaged by RU airstrikes thus far since 2022.

UA Captain Roman Hladky was appointed to be Chief of Unmanned Systems Forces, before being suspended from position following SBU investigative concerns, and a deeper check being actively performed.

UA is increasing its defense budget by $10.5 billion USD

There is an ongoing petition to lower the maximum age of mobilization from 60 to 50 years.

Due to RU strikes, some 545 towns remain without power.

At the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant in the Mykolaiv region, a decrease in capacity was recorded as a result of Russian strikes on the power system. The energy capacity decreased by 400 MW.



Northeast Ukraine/Kharkiv city:

RU launched 7 assaults around Vovchansk and Lyptsi. UA drones dropping thermite have been seen here torching UA forested positions near Vovchansk.

RU struck an apartment in Kharkiv city on Aug 30th, killing 6 and wounding some 97. The Kharkiv Polytechnic University sports complex was damaged. RU attacked Poltava with drones the next day.

RU struck the Poltava Institute of Communications, killing some 51 people and wounding over 220.

An RU airstrike on Sumy killed two woman on August 30th, as RU continues to strike the city supporting the Kursk operation.

Per RU, 5 people were killed and 46 wounded in Belgorod from shelling.



Kursk offensive:

UA forces have continued to contest territory and advance to the NE of the Kursk AO, pushing near Martynovka

UA has captured some 7 RU tanks thus far in Kursk.

Zelensky stated that while UA doesnt intend to take RU land permanently, it is an integral part to pushing RU to favorable UA negotiations.

RU has been heavily shelling UA railway infratructure in Sumy.


Kupyansk/Lyman:

RU 16 attacks towards Kupyansk, and 18 towards Lyman.

RU forces continue efforts to push towards the Oskil SE of Kupyansk, from Pischane across the southern fields.

RU forces advanced near Stelanivhka to the W of Svatove as well, raising a flag over the village ruins.


Kramatorsk/Chasiv Yar

UA repelled 9 assaults towards Siversk over the last day. This area is assessed as a lower priority, where RU is seeking to find opportunities to later exploit, rather then a major focus towards Slovyansk.

RU launched 8 assaults towards Chasiv Yar, as heavy RU drone activity continues on the front line as considerable airstrikes target the city proper.


Toretsk/Kostyantynivka:

RU launched 20 attacks towards Toretsk, as RU forces push to the south and E. UA forces in the region have noted RU is seeking to encircle the S and E of


Pokrovsk:

RU continues to focus the bulk of its activity towards Pokrovsk, launching 63 assaults in the last day, one of the highest single day assault ratios. These assaults are usually comprised of squad sized elements.

RU forces have pushed S of Kalynove, moving towards Hurnyk in recent days from the Pervomaiske highway.

Now under an evac order, Pokrovsk is actively emptying of people.



Donetsk city/Occupied regions:

RU launched some 22 assaults to the SW of Marinka near Karlivka, buoyed by reinforcements.


Zaporizhia/Southern Axis:

Yesterday RU launched 268 strikes on 7 settlements in Zaporizhzhia, 138 times with drones and 125 times with artillery.

RU launched 14 assaults near Vodyane and SW Marinka, with pushes around Vuhledar to the W and E of the city.



Kherson:

Since the beginning of August, the RU army has attacked the Kherson region with drones more than 2,200 times, killing 10 and wounding 129 people.



Odessa/Black Sea/Crimea:

RU charged a GUR servicemember who was captured during a naval raid in Crimea from 2023.

RU continues to have a single missile carrier in the Black Sea, with up to 4 missiles.

Russia:

RU continues to deal with UA long range drone strikes on oil infrastructure, incuding the Moscow Refinery of "Euro+"

Overseas:

Putin visited Mongolia for a trade deal, sparking concerns that the ICC member nation should try and detain him. Mongolia is landlocked between Russia and China, and dependent on RU energy imports among other things, and thus very much cannot upset the apple cart. Consequently, this allowed Putin to thumb his nose at the ICC and normalize travel abroad.

The EU has thus far trained over 60,000 UA servicemembers.

The US will supply some 4,000 Javelin missiles to UA in 2025.

Norway allocated some 53 million USD to support UA with drones and AA defense.

The Netherlands announced a new support package for Ukraine worth more than €200 million

RU is reportedly secretly purchasing components for the military industry from India after China restricted its exports to Russia on July 1.
