While now rendered virtually unable to die by age, the man can not enter areas marked by a holy ward, and can be disposed of with ease if one is to use Holy Magic. He is virtually a sentient, appearance-retaining undead.

Tl;dr: Character was Knighted by a Noble, Noble’s soldiers were killed in a small skirmish with undead forces in the forest, character tries to fight Necromancer who spawned undead, gets turned into a half-undead dude who can be cut down with ease by holy magic.
