- >Day city livin' on Earth.
- >Be Anon.
- >Your mom told you to go play with the new pony family across the hall.
- >You don't wanna.
- >They look funny and have tattoos on their butts.
- >Nonetheless, you didn't have a choice in the matter.
- >You stood with your arms crossed in front of the neighbor's door; your mother with her hands on your shoulders and standing right behind you.
- >She knocks and you wait.
- >A little pony opens the door and stares up, mouth agape, at your mother who towers over both of you.
- >"Hello, little one," greets you mother. "Is your mom around?"
- >The pony nods.
- >"Mom!" she calls inside as she walks away.
- >The filly's mother walks up with a smile.
- >"Hi there!" she greets. "What can I do for you today?"
- >"Hi," greets your mom. "We live across the hall and we were wondering if your little one would like to play with Anon, here."
- >"I'm sure Aero would love the company. Please come in. Aero just went up to the loft. Feel free to follow her."
- >Your mom gently pushes you inside to encourage you.
- >As you head up the stairs, you look back to hear Aero's mom invite your own to tea.
- >Upstairs, you open a door and see a large open room.
- >There were toys and stuff lying around, but no sign of the filly.
- >Before you turn around to leave, you hear the window open.
- >Taking a second glance, you see Aero backtrack out from behind an armoire and dragging some odds and ends in a sheet.
- >Curious, you walk over to get a better look.
- "What ya doin'?" you ask.
- >"Have you ever flown before?" was the first question out of her mouth.
- "No?"
- >You're not quite sure how to answer such an abrupt and wierd question.
- >"Me neither," said Aero. "That's something we got in common."
- "Okay."
- >You watch her fuss with her stuff for another minute or so.
- "So what ya doin'?" you repeat.
- >"You see all those clothes lines?" asked Aero, pointing out the window to the apartment building.
- >Looking outside, you can see clothes lines stringing buildings together and going in and out of some windows.
- "Yeah," you reply.
- >Aero pulled out a coat hanger with a clip, covered in duct tape, and what looked like a parachute made from a bed sheet.
- >Throwing them all to you, she pulled out a second set for herself.
- >"We're going zip-lining!" she exclaimed.
- "Do what now?" you asked, holding the gear in your hands and giving a tilt of your head.
- >"Here, I'll show you."
- >Aero stepped over to the window and climbed onto the fire escape.
- >The bed sheet went on her back and around her front legs.
- >Rising onto her hind legs, she hooks the coat hanger onto the clothes line and then chomps onto the bottom with her teeth.
- >You realized too late what she was planning when she lifted her legs up and fell out the window.
- "Ah!" you panic as you rush to the window and lean out.
- >Aero fell a couple feet until the line caught and tightened.
- >She flew down the line, the parachute causing enough drag so that she doesn't go too fast.
- >Clothes pins and pantyhose unclipped from the line as she passed and fell to the ground below.
- >Hitting the end of the line on the far roof, she let go and tumbled to the floor, laughing and cheering the whole time.
- >You watched in amazement as this little filly just pulled off the impossible.
- "Wow," was all you could mutter.
- >Aero looked back and waved at you.
- >"Come on!" she called.
- >Well, you just saw her pull it off.
- >And it's better than sitting here.
- >You don the bedsheet parachute and hook the coat hanger onto the line.
- >Stepping onto the fire escape, you lift your legs and scream as you fly over open air to the next buliding over.
- >You manage to land on your feet when you finally arrive, but the heart attack you suffered causes you to keel over onto the ground.
- >"Woo!" cheered Aero as she lightly kicks your shoulder. "Wasn't that cool?"
- >You're catatonic for all of a few seconds until the adrenaline wears off.
- >Actually, yeah, that was a bit fun.
- >Totally stupid and scary, but a hint of fun.
- >With a nod of your head, Aero tosses you your coat hanger.
- >"Darn right it was!" she says as she trots around the roof to find another line.
- >"Hey! This one goes across the street!" called Aero.
- >Grabbing your hanger, you walk over and peer over the side.
- >A busy two-lane road lay below and another line stretch the gap to the next rooftop.
- >"Lets do it!" shouted the filly daredevil.
- >Taking her place on the ledge of the roof, she takes off.
- >Once again, a flawless flight and she even managed to stick the landing this time.
- >"Wow! I think that one was even faster than the last!" she called back. "Come on, scaredy cat!"
- >Okay, now you have to do this.
- >No way you were gonna turn down a scaredy cat challenge from a girl.
- >A pony girl no less.
- >You step up to the ledge and take a deep breath.
- >Leaping off, you soar across the gap and land on the far side.
- >"Nice one!" complimented Aero, holding her hoof high.
- >You high five that hoof like a boss.
- >"Okay, now where to next?" asked Aero, taking a look around.
- >You walk with her looking for your next line.
- "How about that one?" you ask with a point. "It even goes back into our building."
- >Several floors lower than when you started, actually.
- >"Awesome!" exclaimed Aero.
- >She gave you a quick swat on the butt.
- >"Well? What are you waiting for?" she asked. "It's your turn to go first."
- "But... But that one goes into somebody's window."
- >"Aim for the sofa," advised Aero. "Go on."
- >You hesitate, but remember her previous challenge.
- >It's your time to shine.
- >Take postition and... Liftoff!
- >You scream out of the sky and across the road again.
- >This window is smaller than you thought when you saw it from afar.
- >You're gonna crash!
- >In an instant, you lift your legs to your chest, narrowly avoiding the window sill.
- >The line ends shortly after entering the window and you find yourself tumbling across the carpet floor.
- >Several cats screech and scatter all over the room.
- >As you stand and turn around, you are instantly hit in the chest by a certain flying pony.
- >You topple over once more, clutching Aero to your chest.
- >"Alright! Home base!" she calls.
- >"What are you doing in my apartment!" shouts some old lady. "I won't let you take my precius kitties!"
- >The woman comes out of nowhere swinging a broom with the intent to kill.
- "Run!" you hollar as you and Aero bolt for the door, leaving your gear behind.
- >Out into the hall and all the way down to the stairs.
- >You skip the elevator to avoid the crazy cat lady following you and finding out what floor you live on.
- >The two of you didn't stop running until you reach the hallways between the two of your's apartments.
- >Taking a minute, you catch your breath.
- >"What a rush, eh?" asked Aero. "What was your name again?"
- "Anon."
- >"I'm Aero."
- >The two of bump fist and hoof.
- >"Wanna come get milk and cookies?" she offered.
- "Sure."
- >Walking in the front door proved to be a bit of a mistake as both of your mothers were standing right there and looking none too pleased.
- >"Anon! How did you get outside?" she asked.
- >She answered for you as you stood there bumbling for an answer.
- >"I told you to stop playing on the fire escapes!"
- >Aero's mother seemed to be more on to what actually happened as she just stood there staring suspiciously at her daughter.
- >"Well it was nice to talk to you, but I need to hav a word with Aero," said the filly's mother. "I hope to have the pleasure again?"
- >"Of course!" answered your mother. "Come along, Anon."
- >Your mom grabbed your ear and pulled you outside and shut the door.
- >A stern talking to then occurred about the dangers of a supposed safety escape..
- >On the other side of the door, Aero's mother was also giving her a very stern talking to about what actually happened.
- >The next day you learned you had class with Aero in school.
- >Life was sweet.
