  1. Godbound 1:
  2. Zoltan has busied himself mainly with aiding the workers with the concoction he and Kyrios have made to make the workers work past normal human limits. To be honest it scares him, but the thrill of it has also opened many ideas. Ideas that could culminate in building up the people in their time of need.
  3. Isolde_Argyris has been away from the great city of the Bibliocians for almost a week now. Recent events have driven the bold young woman back into the arms of her people, her heart now filled with the hope for a better future. Sure, the circumstances leave a lot to be desired, and sure they must live alongside their hated enemies, but this invitation is too good to pass up. This is a chance to
  4. Isolde_Argyris leave the barren earth and sickly herds behind, a chance to create plenty not just for themselves, but for all people. This is a future worth fighting for, and Isolde is determined to cajole the Mochthonian villages into migrating to their new promised land. Naturally, the going has been slow, but her popularity among the youth will help leverage the negotiations in her favor. As always, time
  5. Isolde_Argyris will tell if her efforts to unite her people bear fruit...
  6. Anuman_Davi finishes the final repairs on the palace. His mind forced on the task and is ignoring any sound/distractions around him.
  7. Kyrios has spent the majority of his time in the Palace District. He has taken care to shape the chambers in such a way as to reflect the new order of the city. The larger chamber meant to hold the Assembly will soon be filled by the people's representatives. While the upper chamber will be that of the God-council from which he intends to dedicate his efforts to create a thriving city-state
  8. Kyrios mirroring those that collapsed years ago during the Fall. From the chamber, he looks down to the rest of the district and city at large, thinking of what the future might bring.
  9. GOD Anuman's focus has allowed an admirer to creep up behind him. She hides inside a nearby closet, panting heavily
  10. Anuman_Davi wipes the sweat off his head and lets out a heaved sigh. He looks upon the repairs on one of the archways and says "Meh, I think I could better."
  11. GOD The last two villages, Tenoch and Meneron, fell before Isolde's might, seeming entranced. However, Krollos, is a more resisting target
  12. GOD Anuman hears a breeze somewhere, sounding as though it comes through a narrow opening
  13. Anuman_Davi investigates the window and the noise has stopped.
  14. Anuman_Davi "Strange. Just... strange." He struggles his head and goes to find Zoltan.
  15. GOD The breeze begins again
  16. Zoltan With most of the repairs done to the city, or at least what's been planned so far, the head Bibliocian is currently scribing his ideas, including the formula to make the 'ultra-food,' as he's dubbed it.
  17. Isolde_Argyris The fact that a crowd of young men and women didn't precede her arrival was a dire sign indeed; walking up to the village of her birth, Isolde is flooded with memories of her youth, of the persecution she faced for her Peskanavian blood, and the back breaking labor she was forced to endure. Beating down that bubble of bitterness before it clouds her thoughts, she makes her way to the center of the village before bellowing out her offer at the top of her longs: "MOCHTHONIANS! ROUSE FROM YOUR BEDS! COME IN FROM THE FIELDS! LEND ME YOUR EARS, AND I PROMISE I WILL GIVE YOU SOMETHING IN RETURN! I, ISOLDE, YOUR SISTER AND NEIGHBOR, COME BEARING GREAT NEWS!"
  18. GOD An old man hobbles up to her, and crosses his arms
  19. GOD "What you talking bout? Huh, missy half breed?"
  20. GOD He starts whacking your shins with his stick. It doesn't actually hurt, it's just annoying.
  21. Anuman_Davi approaches Zoltan "Greetings."
  22. Isolde_Argyris snatches the cane whacking her shins, pushing it away before wagging a chiding finger at the old man. "Listen, coward, I return to this village with an opportunity... An opportunity to till fertile soil and raise healthy Opli, an opportunity to live under the protection of an actual army. You lot would be fools not to hear me out!"
  23. GOD "An army?"
  24. GOD "Here to kill me and rape my children and my children's children?"
  25. GOD "It's fine."
  26. GOD "I was done with living anyways."
  27. GOD "I'll just go get a shovel."
  28. Zoltan looks up from his scroll for a moment, before looking back down to finish jotting the last of his sentence. He then leaves his work-table and approaches to greet Anuman. "A nice morning to you as well, Anuman. I take it you've finished your latest task if you're here now, hm?" He motions for him to sit at the couch nearby.
  29. Anuman_Davi "I may need another set of eyes to inspect the work. I keep hearing odd sounds here and there."
  30. Anuman_Davi "The seals on the windows might be loose again."
  31. Isolde_Argyris Clamping down on the old man's shoulder, Isolde shoots him an impatient look. "An army to protect you, Coward. An army to protect us all. You will need not fear any raping, pillaging, or any combination thereof. Tenoch and Meneron have already agreed, why not Krollos as well? We can finally forge a future, a REAL future, for your children and your children's children!"
  32. Isolde_Argyris stamps her feet, each footfall making a huge dint in the dusty earth. "Come on, is nobody even listening to me?! This is the first opportunity for prosperity we've had in generations!"
  33. GOD "Look, dying at random was good enough for my father, and my father's father, and my sons, two, five, and six."
  34. GOD Your mother cheers you on from several dozen meters away
  35. Isolde_Argyris twists around, her anger subsiding for a moment as she sees her mother. Cheerfully waving, she continues to shout and try to gain everyone's attention. "You lot think being the chew toy of Mastigio is good enough because you don't know any better! Just give it a chance! The Mochthonians go where the wind blows them, and right now we are being swept into the arms of the Bibliocians. If you'd prefer to die, that's fine, but history will never remember you. Generations from now, your unborn children will curse you for your myopia!"
  36. GOD The chief speaks up
  37. GOD "So... you're saying that the easiest thing is to join with the bibliocians?"
  38. Zoltan steeples his fingers as he rests against the couch, in thought. "Hmmmm, but it is one window, is it not? Surely a man of your expertise would not need my help. I don't have much of an eye for architectural matters. But if you really wish me to look I can at least look."
  39. GOD "Because the Mochthonian people are like water: Lazy"
  40. Zoltan stands up from the couch and reaches for his staff before motioning for Anuman to lead the way.
  41. Anuman_Davi "Zoltan, wait! You misunderstand."
  42. Zoltan "Hmm? You said you wished for another pair of eyes, were you not referring to me?"
  43. Isolde_Argyris sighs, planting her face in her palm before nodding relucantly. "Yes, it would be the easiest course of action. Harvesting will be easier, herding too, and the Bibliocian army will care for our safety in return for the fruits of our labor. It's a win-win for everybody!"
  44. Anuman_Davi "Haha, it was a... But I... forget about the window. I will deal with it later. I was hoping to ask you about this city and trade."
  45. GOD "Yes! And then we can bow down to the unending despair of life much more efficiently... I do have to wonder if the ancestors would approve though..."
  46. GOD Someone in the back of the crowd says "They would not! They would not! They would not!". It's the old man from before...
  47. Zoltan "Could you elaborate on what you mean?" He summons a nearby aide to get some mulled wine for himself and Anuman if he'll take some.
  48. Isolde_Argyris "Our ancestors are like water, yes? Well, coward, water does not just sit still. It flows, a slave to forces beyond its control. Be that flow, and follow me to the promised land. Besides, our ancestors would probably have pointed words for you if they heard you utter such combative nonsense...~"
  49. Anuman_Davi "This is... or rather was trade port, correct? With ships and merchant we can get some material we may need."
  50. GOD "Eh, sure, whatever. But I DON'T TOTALLY LIKE IT!" He yells the last part, turning his head so that the rest of the crowd can hear him better
  51. GOD (It was, indeed, a major stopover for trade)
  52. Zoltan "Troklios," he says after receiving his cup of wine, "used to be a bustling trade city. perhaps the biggest for leagues around, with dozens of ships entering and exiting her port by the day. We had merchants by the many, great war vessels, fisherman and sailors by the hundreds...." He stops and remembers the past for a moment before looking back to Anuman. "But that was back then. Now...now...
  53. Zoltan ...I would be surprised to see even one ship still plying their trade on the sea.
  54. Isolde_Argyris "Oh for- I'm not going to kill you! Though, the proper answer would be to just nod along and listen to everything I say. Just don't worry about making decisions, let ME handle that." Not the route she wanted to take, but this exchange has rapidly destroyed her already diminshed patience.
  55. Anuman_Davi "I see. But, one day. It could return to the city it once was. Maybe even better."
  56. Zoltan The healer gives Anuman a sad smile before responding. "Perhaps so, but that will take quite some time...yes quite some time." He drinks from his cup fully before adding, "The main problem however, is that I fear we are probably the first for many leagues around that is trying to rebuild."
  57. Anuman_Davi "What happened to this region. I have been traveling with Kyrios and I hate to admit. I am out of touch with the situation around here."
  58. GOD The crowd at krollos shrugs and accepts.
  59. GOD "So... would we go there? Would we keep living here?"
  60. Zoltan "A great scourge swept over the land, a massive band of sea raiders practically destroyed this city and the surrounding area. I can only assume the same has happened up and down the coast for many many leagues."
  61. Isolde_Argyris "Goodness, no! This place, though our home, is a godforsaken patch of barren wasteland that cannot support us. We must leave it, if we are to live. The land of the Bibliocians, however, is fertile and will allow us to grow! Simply put, we have no future here."
  62. GOD "Eh. Okay", says the chief
  63. Anuman_Davi "Sea raiders? If we rebuild, wouldn't they just attack again?"
  64. GOD Two old men wander off, coming back with shovels. They begin digging.
  65. Zoltan "Perhaps..." he mulls that question over for many minutes before finally saying, "I imagine we could foritfy the city in such a fashion that would repel them much better than my ancestors did. That is, you could. Do you not have such information in that head of yours?"
  66. Isolde_Argyris WIth a half hearted smile on her face, she brushes past the chief and snatches the two shovels away from the old men. Grabbing them by their rotted wooden handles, she twirls them in her hands...before hurling them towards the horizon. Like great rusy missiles, they sail off into the great blue beyond, shrinking from view as they disappear beyond the hills and dirt. "STart packing your things,
  67. Isolde_Argyris gentlemen." She winks and pats their shoulders before strolling over to her mother's hut. Agda is probably going to need help wrangling all of her possesions.
  68. GOD They each sigh, and begin digging by hand
  69. Anuman_Davi "Unfortunately, I do not have any answers concerning sea riders."
  70. Samael Peskinavians
  71. Zoltan "I meant of defenses, fortifications, surely you have such knowledge? You're a master builder are you not?"
  72. Anuman_Davi "Although with Peskinavians here, we do have another army."
  73. Anuman_Davi "Hmm...."
  74. Anuman_Davi "There are blueprints I know of that could work. Key word being 'could'."
  75. Zoltan "An army is all well and good, but defenses to hamper incoming invaders would go towards helping that army to victory."
  76. Anuman_Davi "There is something called a 'Boom'. A chain connected via towers on two opposite sides of a body of water. There is also an oversided ballista designed to piece ships."
  77. Zoltan nods. "Sounds to me like you should try to construct these things and test them. Perhaps even take some of my like-minded scribes along to learn of what you mean."
  78. Anuman_Davi "Of course. The ballista blueprints are rather questionable in nature. The Boom might be a better alternative."
  79. Zoltan "Why not do both? Would you be able to improve up on the design you already know?"
  80. Anuman_Davi "I should speak to Kyrios and try to make a small scale replica first. Let's not waste what little material we have."
  81. Anuman_Davi "It was a pleasure speaking to you, Zoltan." He brings his hands together and bows a bit forward. Davi says "Goodbye, We will speak later."
  82. Zoltan gives him a nod of the head back. "Of course, Anuman." Once the master builder has left, the head-healer finishes up his scroll before heading to the restored fields to inspect the newly virgin soil.
  83. GOD You hear a roaring in the distance
  84. GOD (this counts for everyone in the city)
  85. Anuman_Davi runs to Zoltan and says "Did you hear that?"
  86. Samael runs in the direction that the sound came from
  87. Anuman_Davi [redacted]
  88. Kyrios rushes to the palace to find Damiosos and the Agathean Guardians.
  89. Anuman_Davi investigates the source of the noise
  90. Zoltan Before reaching the fields, Zoltan climbs to the top of the ramparts near the gate and looks out towards the roaring.
  91. GOD He sees something strange in the air
  92. GOD It looks like a giant... bird...?
  93. Kyrios "Damiosos! Sound the alarm!"
  94. GOD Bells begin to be wrung throughout town
  95. Kyrios finds his helmet and spear, and rushes to the wall with his men.
  96. Samael reaches the wall and draws his bow
  97. Samael "I'll shoot it down."
  98. Zoltan "What sort of creature is that massive?" He asks more in wonder than fear.
  99. Kyrios and his Guardians line the walls, tracking the beast as it flies around the city.
  100. Samael misses horribly
  101. Samael "Well shit." he then grabs a nearby soldier and tells him to gather the peskinavian warrior
  102. GOD The peskanavian warriors are within reach within minutes
  103. Anuman_Davi tries to find Kyrios.
  104. Samael "Open Fire on the creature!"
  105. Kyrios "Guardians! Fell the beast!"
  106. Kyrios points to it with the end of his spear as he calls the command.
  107. GOD They fire
  108. GOD It just kinda... goes slightly higher, out of range of the arrows
  109. Anuman_Davi prepares the spell of the Kiss of the Crane.
  110. GOD It dips down again
  111. GOD It breathes fire on the slums
  112. Samael "Enough!" he says, crouching down and taking a deep breath, he then hurtles himself directly at the creature, growing large claws and fangs as he directs him upward vault straight for where he assumes the beasts heart lies
  113. GOD "Fuck you! Asshole! Why! Augh!"
  114. Samael "Die!"
  115. Samael "Die Die Die!"
  116. GOD "Ugh! No! I just came to-"
  117. GOD Kiss of the crane hits it "AUGGGH"
  118. Samael "SUBMIT TO ME!"
  119. GOD "Fine! I submit!"
  120. Samael "Land foul beast"
  121. GOD It slowly spirals down
  122. Anuman_Davi releases the blade. It zooms towards at the beast.
  123. Kyrios and the Guardians rush to the landing beast.
  124. GOD "Why? I just came to tell you to stop making whales beach themselves..."
  125. Samael "WHO ARE YOU." he yells, demanding answers
  126. GOD "ARrokKAaak, servant of the sea lord!"
  127. Samael "I am the Sea Lord!"
  128. GOD "You... objectively are not."
  129. Samael "Who is this challenger? I shall slay him!"
  130. Anuman_Davi runs toward the beast has landed.
  131. GOD "You... um... Sasanpu? He's Sansanpu."
  132. Anuman_Davi "Sasanpu? The Sea God."
  133. Samael "Puny god..."
  134. GOD "Yes!"
  135. GOD "Spare me! I will serve you!"
  136. Samael "Oh I know you will, Anuman...Tie it down for me?"
  137. GOD "No! Fuck you!" And it breathes fire again.
  138. Anuman_Davi knocked down by the searing blast.
  139. Anuman_Davi "AH, FUCK."
  140. Samael "You Foolish thing!" he says before climbing his way up to the birds head, and repeatedly bashing it over the skull until it lies defeated
  141. Samael "You will answer to me and only me"
  142. GOD "Fine!
  143. GOD Fuck!
  144. GOD Ugh!
  145. GOD Just stop hitting me!"
  146. Anuman_Davi tries to get up and still in a lot of pain.
  147. Zoltan sends a runner to gather some of the healers, meanwhile he climbs down to see to Anuman's wounds.
  148. Anuman_Davi "Why are you here? What is this nonsense about beached whales?"
  149. Zoltan "And what manner of creature are you, to speak in the tongues of men?"
  150. GOD "This guy was making whales beach themselves. Sasanpu sent me here to tell him to stop."
  151. GOD "I'm a thunderbird"
  152. Anuman_Davi "Thunderbird? Are there more of you?"
  153. GOD "Yes? Lots of us? We live on islands in the ocean?"
  154. Zoltan "Well a swell way to tell us, screeching," he points towards the flaming slums, "and burning some of our city."
  155. GOD "It was supposed to make a point."
  156. Samael "Tell me more of this pretender!"
  157. Anuman_Davi "And look where that has gotten you, pinned to the ground."
  158. GOD "Yeah. You sure showed me..."
  159. Anuman_Davi "So where is the location of Sasanpu? We best at least try to speak to him"
  160. Samael "Ha! speak..."
  161. Zoltan "We will not suffer more damage to Troklios, this to you I swear. I should hope you and your kind, and this Sasanpu will not try so again.
  162. GOD "To the south. Far to the south."
  163. GOD "Are you gonna stop fucking with the sea?"
  164.
  165. Godbound 2:
  166. GOD The young Peskanavian men are lined up before Samael in the early morning light, having been called there. The youngest of them cannot hide their shivers in the just-above-freezing temperatures
  167. Samael is standing next to his most trusted Lieutenant, who's name was lost in time. He begins to instruct the Man in the way he expects his people to worship him, and anoints the man as the first priest of his people
  168. GOD The man looks confused that you now refuse to use his name
  169. GOD He relays the strange and somewhat confusing ideas contained within the dictates of the religion:
  170. GOD -Once entering the cult the warrior must from then on master the art of war and hunt, every day the warriors must hunt and kill their own food, no preserved food shall be eaten, and anything left over from that days hunt must be sacrificed to Samael in a fire.(This may be suspended in times of famine, on instructions of the head priest or Samael) -During battle, A member of the cult shall never run retreat while allies still fight, they shall be t
  171. GOD -Those not capable of being warriors of scale are tasked with the job of caring for the warriors and keeping any temples that are built - When without war, the Warriors are tasked with "keeping the peace" and are responsibly for crime prevention and punishment. - All orphans are immediately drafted into the cult and raised in it's ways, and any prisoner may take the vows as well to negate a sentence.
  172. GOD He also declares himself to be nameless, and thus superior, being closer to the beasts.
  173. Samael then turns to the men and women(Cassidy you sexist shit), and addresses them "You who I see standing before me will become the greatest warrior band In all the world, And every one of you I personally bless."
  174. Samael "You shall be the shining example of what the heroes of our people are supposed to be, and what every warrior wishes they were. You will not serve me as underling of slaves, you shall be my brothers in arms and I shall be your general, leading you to glorious battle!" He exclaims the last bit by raising his fist and saying Hurrah!
  175. GOD They all say "Hurrah!", and raise their fists back
  176. Samael He then cuts a gash into his hand, and personally blesses every warrior with a drop of blood in their hair.
  177. GOD One of them faints.
  178. GOD He is young, and sickly looking.
  179. GOD The warrior next to him says "yeah... um... he's... he does that when he sees blood. He's a fucking pussy"
  180. Samael "He is not fit be a warrior, He shall care for the horses and the armour, A task just as important as fighting itself."
  181. GOD A guy raises his hand
  182. Samael "Yes?"
  183. GOD He waves it back and forth
  184. GOD "Um... can I care for the horses and armor too? I thought that was just for women/slaves, but if it's just as important, I mean..."
  185. Samael "Are you an Incompetent warrior? Are you afraid of the horrors of combat?"
  186. GOD "I mean, no, but... like, dying and stuff? But that was how you got to be a man, so it was worth it. If I can just, y'know, not do that, that would be great"
  187. GOD scattered murmuring from several members of the crowd, booing from a couple others
  188. Kyrios approaches the group, meaning to observe the newcomers and their leader without saying a word.
  189. Samael "Those tasks are made for those who have not the means to fight in glorious combat, but wish to show their devotion. If you wish to take the easier route in life, all that shows is your cowardice. Which I will not stand for..." he leaves the obviously threat open.
  190. GOD "So... that's a no on not dying then? Awwwww...."
  191. Kyrios "Your leader speaks with wisdom. You are now part of the city. Professions of craft can provide for your own profession of war. This is where you belong," Kyrios says, stepping forward.
  192. GOD Several of the warriors perk up.
  193. GOD "...proffessions of craft?..." is heard indistinctly mumbled by several of them
  194. Kyrios "You must stick to your traditions on the field, as those born in the walls stick to theirs," he says, motioning to the inner city and a passing merchant.
  195. GOD "Awww..."
  196. Kyrios glares at him.
  197. Samael "Is the path of least resistance truly what you wish for?" He says, stepping up to the coward, getting directly in his face
  198. GOD "Mmmm... no... I mean... if I mean no, shouldn't I say yes, here? Because the easiest thing to do HERE is to say that I don't like to do easy things, so... uh... maybe? No! Uh... double no yes no?" He turns to run away.
  199. Samael grabs him and shoves him towards the gate "Be gone and never return, because If you do I will slay you."
  200. GOD "Um... huh. So... what was the proper answer? I know you're probably gonna kill me, but I gotta know..."
  201. Samael clears his throat...very loudly
  202. Samael then continues to glare at the man.
  203. GOD "Was it no? Yes? I just... I need to know!"
  204. Samael proceeds to toss the man over the walls.
  205. Samael "Now, any more questions?"
  206. GOD "No!" The chorus goes up
  207. GOD One guy raises his hand, however.
  208. Samael "Yes?"
  209. GOD "okay, so... who do we rape, murder, and steal from?"
  210. GOD "Just... whoever in the city?"
  211. Samael "No need anymore, we have everything we need here, and we can rape, murder, and steal from any enemy of the city." he says
  212. GOD Okay.
  213. GOD "So... mochtonians? Or... like... who?"
  214. Kyrios "Whomever you're ordered to consider the enemies of the city," Kyrios interjects.
  215. Samael "No, they will be our allies, and we know not yet who will come to try and destroy our civilization, But I pity any who try."
  216. GOD "Wait, they'll be our allies?"
  217. Samael "Yes."
  218. Kyrios "It is not the warrior's duty to create the rationale for war or diplomacy, soldier."
  219. GOD "Uh... okay... um... I guess I'm probably gonna go then... Like... uh... I'm probably alone on this, you're pretty swell, but I kinda just wanna kill people"
  220. Kyrios "You will stay, and do as you're bid. Duty compels you."
  221. GOD "um... okay."
  222. Samael "Now, we shall begin the training."
  223. GOD They follow meekly along
  224. Samael clears his throat
  225. GOD They look at him
  226. Samael "Show your pride men! you will be the greatest of all time!"
  227. GOD I grunt choruses up
  228. Samael "I CAN'T HEAR YOU."
  229. GOD Uhhhhhhh
  230. GOD (it's like a thousand tina belchers)
  231. Samael begins overseeing their training daily, slowly cultivating these men into vicious Warriors
  232. Samael also instructs his head priest in the ways he wishes these men to follow, so he can begin training and growing the cult himself, and electing lesser priests to assist him
  233. Kyrios continues pacing through the city, observing the people within.
  234. GOD He seems a young man grab a woman's bag and run away through the half ruined streets
  235. GOD sees
  236. Kyrios "YOU THERE! HOLD FAST!" Kyrios projects his voice in command.
  237. GOD "Ahhhhh! AHHHHH!" He definitely knows it's you. He's running
  238. Kyrios (using 'thousand loyal troops' to compless cooperation)
  239. Kyrios *compel
  240. GOD He stops
  241. Kyrios "Approach, citizen."
  242. GOD Ahhh! He says, while coming nearer
  243. Kyrios calls out for guards
  244. GOD He is finally in front of you, obviously terrified
  245. GOD They approach
  246. GOD They are Peskanavian, however
  247. Kyrios "You violate the laws of the city." he says to the man, "Guards, return the stolen property to their owner, and escort this criminal to the former barracks. Alert Damiosos of the need for a public lashing there. I will be present myself."
  248. GOD The guards nod
