  1. <19:28:52> "Aurora": So, just to explain it to you: Objective is when you are talking about something; the 'object' of the sentence. Subjective is when something is open to interpretation. The difference does NOT come from the vocabulary used, it comes from the actual thing that is being talked about. Let's take a look at some examples. "I like cookies" is subjective. The speaker is talking about something that THEY feel toward something; nobody else can say they don't feel that. "I have cookies" is objective. The speaker is talking about cookies, and asserting that he has them. There is no interpretation to speak of there. "I feel like I have cookies" is a grammatically incorrect statement about something that should be objective, in the expected context. The speaker either has cookies or he doesn't; there is no middle ground where he gets to decide if he has cookies or not.
  2. <19:28:54> "Aurora": Similarly, your statement of "I don't like digital dice rollers" is subjective because it talks about your feelings. However, your statement of "I feel like digital dice rollers are shit" is not. While the meaning of the words "are shit" is subjective - maybe you mean "are unfair" or "run slower than I expect" - the fact is that whether you consider those words to mean "don't give everyone the same chance at rolls" or "takes X seconds to load and I expect Y seconds to load", you don't get to decide whether it actually does that or not, same as how I don't get to say "I feel the earth is flat" and suddenly the earth is flat. It is decided by existing, and while we may not know the details of it that doesn't diminish the fact that what something IS can NEVER be subjective to the degree you are implying.
  3. <19:33:54> "Alexander Verriphim (Void)": That's a mixture of right and wrong, because you have some good points, but ultimately you've more based your argument on the subject and object of a sentence or statement. I'm talking about Subjective and Objective from an Ethics stance. Ethics has its own definitions for both.
  4. <19:34:07> "Alexander Verriphim (Void)": And I know at least four professors willing to back that up.
  5. <19:34:48> "Aurora": I am talking about what the fuck those ACTUALLY MEAN. But would you mind giving me the apparent definition for 'ethical' subjective and objective?
  6. <19:39:53> "Alexander Verriphim (Void)": Not specifically ethicAL. I mean in the field of Ethics. In Ethics, in short, the subjective is a statement, ideology, or otherwise that is grounded in the self. It changes from person to person, and is typically not seen as a solid standpoint for arguments or ethical practices, though it can greatly affect both, sometimes in the form of bias. The objective is any information that is definitive and does not change from person to person. The most common form of the objective is fact as it is perceived by the society defining the fact, though they can change over time as what we define as definite and true changes. What I was attempting to say was that I was not holding what I was saying as an absolute truth. I was sharing what I've experienced, and how it makes me feel going forward. Subjectively, I feel the way I was saying.
  7. <19:40:45> "Alexander Verriphim (Void)": You took it as objective, that I was stating a point and grounding it in reality, not myself.
  8. <19:44:53> "Aurora": You need to fucking speak better english. Saying "I feel like dice rollers are shit" conveys in NORMAL ENGLISH that you actually believe that dice rollers are "shit" (by context; unfair), not just that you dislike them.
  9. <19:45:18> "Alexander Verriphim (Void)": Okay now you're just being rude
  10. <19:45:30> "Aurora": I'm being rude because I tried to explain something earlier
  11. <19:45:32> "Aurora": and you were like
  12. <19:45:36> "Alexander Verriphim (Void)": And again... I was not acting superior. Clearly, you are.
  13. <19:45:44> "Aurora": "no I'm being sUbJeCtIvE
  14. <19:45:50> "Aurora": You were first.
