Evangelicalism is a Protestant movement embraced within a variety of Christian denominations, based on the idea that religious salvation can be achieved through adherence to the word of God as delivered through the Bible.

While they may go by different denominational names, evangelical Christians are unified as a group and set apart from other Christians by certain core beliefs.

Different from other denominations, the top five identifying beliefs of evangelical Christians are:

So with their faith in the Bible and Jesus, evangelical Christians may seem similar to other Christian denominations, even bearing some of the same names. But their unique beliefs and interpretations of Christianity make them a distinct worldwide movement, emphasizing the "born again" experience, the infallibility of the Bible, salvation by faith in Jesus alone, the need to evangelize or spread their message,     (AND the rapture of the church in the end times.)

Some Bible scholars and theologians see some discrepancies about the belief that there will be a secret coming or secret rapture.
After Jesus gives His Olivet Prophecy, He concludes by saying “then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory” (Mark 13:26). Right after every one will “see the Son of Man coming,” Jesus will “send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens” (Mark 13:27), so first off in this order; everyone sees Jesus coming in great power and glory, and then He gathers the elect (Christians) from all over the earth. This would seem to make the rapture pointless since if every eye will see Him, and then next, He gathers His church from all over the world, what is it about this that’s secret?

Jesus, Himself, said,

However, no one knows the day or the hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. (NLT, Matthew 24:36)

Jesus also said we should not believe anyone who claims to be the Messiah or anyone who claims to know when He is coming again. The second coming of Jesus will be sudden, unexpected and unmistakable, like lightning flashing across the sky (Matthew 24:23-51, Mark 13:21-23, 13:32-37 Luke 17:20-37). The important thing is not to know when or how the end will come, but to be spiritually prepared when it does (Matthew 25:1-13 Matthew 24:42-44, Luke 21:34-36, 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3).
