Friendships can bloom in the most unlikely places. Basketball star Kyle Lowry doesn’t remember exactly when or why his friendship with former teammate Demar DeRozan started, “that’s why it’s genuine”. They both played for the Toronto Raptors for six years together. At the beginning of their relationship, Lowry was not satisfied with his time in the Raptors organization and had no desire to be there. For a time, Lowry and DeRozan just didn’t get along. They eventually grew to love each other, not out of necessity, but opportunity because they spent so much time together on and off of the court. However, nowhere was their friendship more apparent than it was on the basketball court. The two had incredible chemistry and led their team to the National Basketball Association playoffs five times. While the two never won a championship together, the dynamic duo had truly left a mark on the Raptors franchise. Their friendship was also a famous one, commonly referred to as a “bromance”. When interviewed by the CBC, Lowry described his friendship with DeRozan: “When you meet certain people in this world and you’re brought together by basketball, you don’t have a certain reason on why this or that. It just happens.  It is what it is.  You can talk about anything, you can watch TV, you can not talk and still be on the same page.
