Guz and Rutherford continue crawling.
Guz: That doesn't sound right. Romance is a biological function that leads to procreation in allosexual solids, right?
Rutherford: I guess?
Guz: Mellanoid Slimes don't have sexes. If I wanted a child, I could bud right here in this jeffries tube.
A small growth appears in Guz's hair with black beady eyes and a neutral expression. It has a color gradient from Guz' green to cyan to purple.
Rutherford: Well, Mellanoids don't have gender, right?
Guz looks pensive. The bud growth retracts back into her hair.
Guz: They're not supposed to...
Rutherford is smiling enthusiastically.
Rutherford: But you do! You could be anything you want but you choose to be a woman.
Guz, still pensive: ...I don't CHOOSE to be a woman.
Guz's expression turns determined: I am a woman.
Rutherford: My point is even if it's not normal for your species, maybe you DO feel romantic feelings--or something like it--for Tendi.

R: Neither do I--I MEAN! uh... neither would I.
Having climbed up the ladder to the next vertical Jeffries Tube, Guz is resting, looking a little melty, and Rutherford is climbing up through the hatch and looking at her.
G: Well, maybe I dont have a "crush" but a "squish."
R: "A squish?"
G: "Y'know..."
Guz pinches her cheek and pulls it out. It has a gelatinous texture so it stretches far.
G: "A squish!"
R: "Haha! I like that!"
