  1. The powers:
  2.
  3. Red, Black, Blue, White. The four "colors" of power.
  4.
  5. Respectively, Soul, Silence, Word and Voice power. Also known as the powers that come from doing, being/having, knowing and believing. Delving into either of them now...
  6.
  7. If you find any of the below interesting, do give the pastes associated with the specific power a look.
  8.
  9. Soul Power/Red Power.
  10.
  11. Achieved from doing things. Often called the Power of Feats as a result. Generally doesn't exist, nor can it be cultivated without specific feats. The spirit, needs to be tempered through experience, is what is often used as a parable to explain this. This power is also unpredictable, generally, occurring when it is NEEDED, not one desires it. However, whenever discovered, it is simple to master (most of the time) and can be extremely varied, granting powers even beyond the normal borders of the other three.
  12.
  13. The original humans, who dwelled the terrible shitstorm that was ancient Balen, used exclusively Soul Power to survive. It is very difficult to block, or defend against, as well as to seal. It will most of the time, overcome abilities of a similar level. A battle between two Soul power users of roughly equal power , is mostly a battle of wills, than of skill. Generally, takes the form a singular, very powerful/versatile/unique ability. It is the hardest of the four to achieve and develop.
  14.
  15. Often manifests as flames, or whatever it DOES is often covered in the "fires of the soul". Hence, it is often also called, simply "Soulfire". It is incredibly difficult to categorize, but it does seem to dislike the Silence and the Word powers quite a bit, it's flames having a powerful cleansing effect... Even if, painful.
  16.
  17. Silence Power/Black Power.
  18.
  19. Achieved from being or having things. Often called the Power of Possession as a result. This power comes from contact with the Silence, or Silence touched entities/objects. It's users, rely on it to fuel dark rituals, as part of an unending contractual relationship with the Silence. The powers of the Silence, in essence replicate the effects of other powers (blue, white, or red) or come from corrupted versions of said powers. The Silence ITSELF is nothingness, that has swallowed and altered Voice power, from the annihilation of the Voices.
  20.
  21. In turn, these powers are "boosted" in some manner, while bringing terrible recoil to the user. A simple example is a Silence-based fireball. Not only is the fire given a mor edgy color (black being common) but whatever it burns tends to reject healing. Or perhaps the flames burn more than they naturally should. But instead, they feed off the lifeforce of the user, or perhaps, damage the user sustains becomes more difficult to heal in turn. Eventually, all of it's users meet dark ends... Yes, but the power they get, is still vast.
  22.
  23. The Cursed races, with few exceptions (Harpies come to mind) utilize the Silence as part of their very being. Whenever the Silence is used, a bit of it's power increases in turn too. So the further it IS applied, the more the Silence grows and seeps into our world. The more the Silence grows and seeps into our world, the more powerful Silence users grow. The circle. Endless. Without beginning either.
  24.
  25. Word Power!
  26.
  27. Magicks! Word Power is the power to talk shit and make it affect reality. Basically, the power to use a "Word" and channel it with mana. A single word can be bound to multiple "smaller" words. These are called Magic Schools. More on them on the Arcana pastebin! Generally, this is the power that comes from effort and study. The Power of Knowledge. Everyone can become a great mage, by training their mana capacity, their spell casting, their ability to make up new spells etc, etc. You can even get a degree for it!
  28.
  29. Unfortunately, while the most versatile power, it is also the most "base". A lightning bolt fired using Magic, will be weaker than one fired using Soul Power, or Voice Power, or even the Silence, granted the power behind them is the same. However, your lightning bolt has an easier time duplicating itself or being faster etc. Versatility, over power, is the case here. Then again, numerous people have made the mistake of angering the wrong mage, and finding that hard work did pay off and... Well then they died!
  30.
  31. Words can be spoken in any language, or written in any form, but the closer they are to the "language of the Voices" which is sort of like a True Name deal, the more powerful do they get. Speaking something in the Language of the Voices, would also mean nobody HEARS it, per say. The effect, is immediately felt nevertheless!
  32.
  33. Voice Power
  34.
  35. The power of the Voices. Also known as the Power of Faith. Essentially, faith on the Voices grants the ability to channel their energy, and their form, as well. This power, can take many forms, from just manipulating the pure white energy of the Voices, to calling upon their power, into objects, or armaments...to manifesting feats and spells based on the feats of that particular Voice...to of course, calling upon parts of the Voice's very body, or the whole thing, even.
  36.
  37. It requires a good deal of thinking, and philosophical understanding of the Voices, and their wisdom. Also a good deal of faith. It is supposed to rely on "touching" the everlasting conscience of the Voices, even if their bodies are have been long annihilated by now. It is difficult to access, and even more difficult to train, but steadfast belief, will allow one to achieve incredible heights. The potential is vast, yet not limitless. Summoning incredibly mighty Voices, in their while bodies is difficult for even the most devout cleric, after all.
  38.
  39. Voice Power can be attained through quests and pilgrimage as well. Most monks and clerics train their bodies in martial arts, or the use of certain weaponry, and enhanced it through the power of the Voices. Overusing Voice Power, or tending to draw on more than one can, will damage the Soul however, something many monks do in desperate situations. Hence, a difficult power to control
