[S] Jack: Ascend.: We get to see LOWAS in more detail than LOLAR and LOHAC, which are barely visible in the distance. That way Hussie could just reuse the LOWAS file and not have to worry about making a better image for the other two.

The underling Dad fights is the only one that's not a one-off appearance, having been one of the trophies on Grandpa's wall.

The hand motif of the queen is subverted when Jack slices her ring off, and in lieu of a barcode scanner projected on his forehead being used to signify Jack's anger, a splatter of blood is used.

The 'END OF YEAR ONE' card at the end of the animation includes additional  unreleased music that remixes "Sburban Jungle". The image used at the end is from the wallpapers that were included with a bonus with the purchase of Homestuck Vol. 4, which was released on the same day as this flash.

Activate.: In this appearance, he's wearing a Sepulchritude shirt that was available from Topatoco (you can see PS' fedora on the back). The tablet he draws on here is actually a Captchalogue Scribblepad from the Pictionary modus. Also you can see his famous 'horse attacking football player' painting.

AH: Recap first year of Homestuck.: All the links embedded throughout the recap were not originally present. Fans added them to the recap's text, and Hussie in turn to the story.

AH: Retrieve arm from background.: Another 'Retrieve arm'. The fan Hussie is referring to is actually Eyes5 from the art team.

Ok. ==>: Please notice, again, how he doesn't include LOLAR and LOHAC with the other planets up there. Because he hasn't drawn them yet. Busted.

John: Answer GC.: Terezi actually got 'jegus' from when she talked to Davesprite. She sends john a file with the '.fl4' extension. It's supposed to be .fla, which is a kind of flash file. While most flash files you see are swfs, flas are like 'source code files' for flash because you can still open and manipulate their contents. John probably had to figure out how to edit file extensions on his PDA.

John: Open map.: You can actually use the little arrows on the top left to navigate the map.

==> (1690): (Tavros crashing into Vriska's bedroom.)

John: Get up.: This is the first time someone's familiar is renamed. Dr. Meowgon Spengler is a reference to Egon Spengler, one of the Ghostbusters. Also you can now see the MEOW drawings on Rose's walls since she's become aware of them as well.

==> (1704): RETCON WATCH: Oil on the uh... Dream alchemiter...

So whenever you put something in your bedroom, it shows up in your dream bedroom? What happens if you remove those objects? Can they exist outside the dream bedroom? Can you trick the game into duplicating items by exploiting this behavior somehow?

John: Look at a book.: SBaHJ #6 reference, especially fitting since Charles Barkley is a basketball player.

John,: The Squiddles stationery is somewhat out of character from Rose. I'll assume it was given to her alongside her squiddle-themed shirt.

John: Put the bunny back in the box.: "Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden" is a freeware JRPG. The plot is kicked off by the tragic consequences of Charles Barkley performing a Chaos Dunk at a basketball game and killing the audience in the process.

==> (1715): Sollux references Dave's 'acrobatic fucking PIROUETTE' line. Also, this is the first time we see the lab and it's not just a monochromatic background.

==> (1716): Stars being reflected in sunglasses, again, is a Problem Sleuth thing. The funny thing is that in THIS case we use Sollux's tinted sunglasses in addition to the 'cosmic sunglasses' shtick to present a huge reveal in the story much later on.

==> (1718): Identical to the YARN BONK Rose just executed on Dave. Actually Sollux is being tied to Dave pretty consistently early on, up to and including being the one who names him incorrectly. Whatever the idea was for this relationship, it faded away pretty quickly.

[S] Rose and Dave: Shut up and jam.: This flash hides a history of drama under its simple exterior. It originated as a desire from Hussie to share some of the many WIP songs posted on the private music team forums by Bill Bolin, and ended up causing his exit from the Homestuck community (previously elaborated on) a couple months after this page was released. The songs were replaced with a variety of upcoming tracks from Vol. 5.

Everything was well until Jared "SolusLunes" Micks, a new music team contributor who provided one of the songs in the flash, was accused of plagiarizing the song "Endless Heart" in Vol. 5 from a song called "Heart of the Creator" by a musician named Draggor. This resulted in his removal from the team and the removal of his music from both Vol. 5 and this flash.

This third version of the flash remained until the release of Prospit and Derse, when Hussie decided to take the track "Derse Dreamers" (appropriate) and slot it where the removed track had been. So, here's the music:

==> (1745): While this first view at the Trollian interface is exciting, I think the fact that the program features a 'ChumpRoll' instead of a 'ChumRoll' for the friends list is riveting.

Rose: Proceed through door uneventfully.: He picked this prank up from Nanna. Right down to the exact image of the bucket pasted into the story.

Dave: Be the puppet.: Redrawn panel from when Dave blasted that crow through his bedroom window.

John: Investigate.: "Yes. Hell yes. Hell fucking yes." derives from here, although clearly perfection had not been totally achieved at this point.

==> (1767): The meteor the trolls inhabit has larger and more numerous buildings on it, and also a darker shade of gray for the walls, but the meteor itself is identical to the one seen here.

John: Explore lab further.: The glass tubes are all on top of a weird pedestal with angles drawn on the edges and some markings in the middle, clearly a picture of something Hussie swiped from somewhere. Could be a watch face, or a star map, or whatnot.

John: Examine nearby station.: Similar to the command terminals on the exile stations, in design at least, but lacking the little cutout on the top right screen to correspond with the Sburb logo.

AR?: Resist urge to ride bro's rocket board.: Extended reference to "Dave: Resist great urge to play Bro's Xbox.". Including the text and all.

AR?: Pop a fucking wheelie.: RETCON WATCH: Just like Hussie points out.

CD?: Pick PM?'s pocket.: The fact that CD could steal the ring from PM while wearing the most noticeable hat known to history is a testament to his craft.

==> (1788): Several new names for the B1 agents, including 'Sovereign Slayer' for Jack, a name that's almost instantly discarded.

==> (1795): TRIVIA DIFFICULTY LEVELS:

Easy: Noticing the 'sweet catch' reference that just went down.
Medium: Noticing CD has Squiddles flying over his head instead of stars or cuckoo birds.
Hard: Realizing that CD wears a crappy little prop that makes it look like he has a sword stabbed through him since he can't actually emulate having a sword stabbed through him as Dave's crow was.
Very hard: Noticing the Prospitian in the background caught CD's hat when Jade knocked it off flying.
DEATH: Noticing it's the same drawing of a Prospitian from when Jade first left her dream bedroom 750 pages ago.

[S] WV?: Rise up.: This page was the first one to utilize what would become known as the Art Team, who drew assets for flash animations like this one. On this flash:

"Piecing together animations with art contributions is something I'd like to look into doing more of. Not only does it help move these things along faster, but it adds some nice visual depth to the productions.

If you're wondering whether this animation (WV?: Rise up.) was going to be the original 4/13 one, the answer's still no. That'll be the next one. I was originally going to squeeze this series of animations into like a week and a half period before 4/13, with more compressed action than has occurred since that date.

Of course once I bailed on that plan, I just decided to stretch things way out, because it was just easier that way. I think this is one of the secrets to the vast size of these stories. Making big plot advancing strides in shorter periods of time, through animation etc, is actually more difficult than spreading it out. So as long as it's spread out, I fill that space with massive amounts of simpler pages, and it all just piles up."
