  1. As one can see, I’ve been using masculine pronouns to refer to lethargic. This is because, strangely, he seems to have completely integrated into the chat, more so than many other bots I have seen. I suspect that this is because he is largely random (much like the users who frequent the chat,) and has the ability to talk without being spoken to, similar to a real person. However, users have “debated” whether or not he should be referred to as a male, female or an “it.” Lethargic’s views on his gender have been inconsistent, but the following exchange is widely seen as the true reply:
  2.
  3. <blackle> hes a personified object
  4. <blackle> like a teddy bear
  5. <AudreyN> so he could be a she?
  6. <blackle> NO
  7. <blackle> lethargic, are you a man?
  8. <AudreyN> lethargic, are you a girl?
  9. <lethargic> engenders embracing and chasing of blues.
  10. <blackle> :|
  11. <SolDL> lethargic, do you have a gender?
  12. <lethargic> maybe.
