  8. [23:11.40] <@Valetni> It’s been 3 months since that disastrous drop. You’re not sure exactly what the top brass was thinking, maybe they thought that the Soviet air defense network was degraded, or that there was a gap in the antiquated radar coverage. Maybe they just thought that taking out the oil refineries at Ploesti was worth the risk. It seems like the only ones who knew what they were planning were
  9. [23:11.40] <@Valetni> the Soviets, because they were certainly waiting.
  10. [23:11.40] <@Valetni> You’re some of the lucky ones, you suppose. Half of you didn’t even make it out of airplanes, and most of those who made it down alive found out exactly what happens when light infantry tries to tangle with armored units. The history books will probably call it a battle, or a raid, but you know it for what it was: a slaughter.
  11. [23:11.41] <@Valetni> The only mercy was that the Soviets didn’t judge you worth the fuel of running down. Tattered, scattered dregs of once proud, elite units reduced to small bands of survivors trapped deep in Soviet territory. With Hungary’s borders closed and Ukraine crawling with even more Soviets, the decision was made to attempt to reach the coast, where with luck boats could be commandeered or chartered,
  12. [23:11.46] <@Valetni> with the ultimate goal being Turkey, a country at least nominally a member of NATO.
  13. [23:11.48] <@Valetni> You began your exodus in platoon strength, but eventually split into smaller groups better suited for evading detection and living off the land. Disease, accidents, desertions, and even a single murder have further reduced your band to the four of you, possessing only the remnants of what each of you had on you when you jumped and a single ‘commandeered’ UAZ-469.
  14. [23:11.53] <@Valetni> Which has just finally run out of fuel. Thus does your miserable band of survivors find itself stranded on a dirt trail in a Romanian forest south of Ploesti just after sunset. Rain beats down with a steady staccato rhythm on the canvas covering of your vehicle as you all share a moment of silence for your vehicle and hopes.
  15. [23:16.04] * Michael_Kirchner slaps the wheel vigorously, sending a cascade of drops off the canvas cover. "Sorry boss, I'm not gonna be the one getting yoked up this time."
  16. [23:20.01] <Anna_Barnett> "Ok Kirch. Let's take 5 and assess what we have here."
  17. [23:22.32] <Michael_Kirchner> "Roger that, sir," Kirchner says and cranes his neck to look in the back of the UAZ before turning back to look at the commanding officer, "Turns out our stock is about fucking nothing, sir."
  18. [23:24.10] <Gloria_Graf> "Useless." muttered Graf, SAW clutched to her chest as she scrutinized each of her comrades with less-than-adequate trust "We don't have time to wait here, others might be at the coast already, getting boats for themselves. We should hurry, or get left for dead."
  19. [23:26.23] * JamieLee_Sawyer looks up from her thoughts, trying to keep the route they'd already taken plotted out in her head. "She's right. We need to keep moving. The longer we stay here the more of a target we make."
  20. [23:28.29] <Anna_Barnett> Lt Col. Barnett drums her fingers on the body of her carbine. "Yeah, I hear you. But we're still here, unlike most of the detatchment. I'll take what I can get if it means getting out of this soviet pisshole, so we keep moving. Can this thing go any further?"
  21. [23:30.22] <@Valetni> To the outside of the vehicle, Sawyer briefly spots a light amidst the trees directly ahead, to the south.
  22. [23:30.52] <Michael_Kirchner> "No sir, er, ma'am, er sir, Colonel. Deader than my wrasslin' career, eh?"
  23. [23:32.51] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Hold up. I see something." 1st Lieutenant (Air Force) Sawyer leans forward and points toward the light between the trees, almost obscured by the rain. "There might be a town, I see lights. Think it's worth a risk?"
  24. [23:34.51] <Gloria_Graf> "Let's just move!" Graf stepped off the vehicle, making no secret of the fact that she was prepared to go alone if the others preferred to straggle.
  25. [23:34.51] <Anna_Barnett> "Report Sawyer. What kind of light." Anna's grip tightens on the carbine as she checks it's ready to go. "We're balls deep in the enemy's cornflakes, I'll need more than 'a light'."
  26. [23:36.25] * Michael_Kirchner steps down from the truck, shouldering his meager pack and adjusting his helmet strap. "Piss-poor day for a hike, but it beats shuckin' stalks in the heat."
  27. [23:37.41] * Baba_Yaga (Crumplehat@sux-E7CFA0EF.res.spectrum.com) has joined channel #acegRPGic
  28. [23:37.55] * Baba_Yaga is now known as Jamie_Lee_Sawyer
  29. [23:39.10] * JamieLee_Sawyer (Crumplehat@sux-E7CFA0EF.res.spectrum.com) Quit (Ping timeout)
  30. [23:39.53] <@Valetni> The four of you step out of the relatively warm and dry vehicle, surrendering yourself to the tender mercies of the elements. Boots squelch into treacherous mud that threatens to rob you of your balance with every step as you prepare to head in the direction Sawyer indicated.
  31. [23:42.01] <Michael_Kirchner> "Ain't no time like the present, I 'spose," Kirchner remarks before tramping off into the gloom, not waiting to see if the others have followed.
  32. [23:42.17] <Anna_Barnett> "Ok, I want fingers off triggers. This is all going to go to hell fast if someone starts shooting and we end up with a squad of reds out for our blood."
  33. [23:43.49] <Gloria_Graf> Gritting her teeth, Graf marches after Kirchner, hand and fingers on her SAW's trigger despite the nagging officer. Authority hadn't gotten them anywhere well so far, and she wouldn't entrust a single additional bead of blood or sweat to them.
  34. [23:44.32] * Jamie_Lee_Sawyer walks to the front to get ahead, having been the one to identify the path. "Got it. Let me out front, guys. I'll keep my eyes open." She slings her rifle over her back and puts a hand on her pistol. At this rate, if it comes to needing the rifle, it probably won't matter anyway.
  35. [23:46.08] <@Valetni> As you proceed down the path, a figure slips out of the woods. Four legs and an emaciated furry body block your path, its eyes staring you down as it bares its yellowed fangs. The wolf growls at you, advancing. It appears to be alone, and either sick or starving if it’s out in such weather and preparing to attack such large prey moving in a group.
  36. [23:47.37] * Gloria_Graf immediately points her gun at the beast, stating "Unless anyone has a silencer or some very quick takedown skills, I'll just shoot this mutt and get it over with."
  37. [23:51.20] * Jamie_Lee_Sawyer takes a step back and holds a hand up, speaking quietly. "Don't. It's not raining hard enough that nobody would hear that. Look, there's four of us. Just rush it or something."
  38. [23:51.31] <Anna_Barnett> "You discharge that firearm and I'll personally ram it up your ass Graf."
  39. [23:52.01] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "Or just beat it with your rifle."
  40. [23:52.32] <Gloria_Graf> Keeping her weapon trained on the wolf, the Spec 4 remains still, silently complying with her superior officers for now.
  41. [23:54.13] <@Valetni> The wolf lunges at Sawyer, the nearest target, but in its weakened and malnourished state it doesn't manner to connect with eithers its leaping attack or the swipe of its claws as the woman in the front manages to evade.
  42. [23:55.51] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "Shit!" Sawyer hisses through her teeth as she ducks to the side, leaving the wolf open for the others to engage.
  43. [23:59.44] <Anna_Barnett> Anna acts on instinct, letting her carbine catch on the sling and rushing forwards to strike at the wolf with her fists.

  46. Session Start: Sun Oct 28 12:00:33 2018
  47. Session Ident: #acegRPGic
  48. [00:00.33] <@Valetni> The wolf yelps as Anna bops it on the snout, sending its legs out from under it. It's only in the mud for a few seconds, before it regains its feet.
  49. [00:04.38] * Michael_Kirchner rushes forward and raises his leg in the air, a manic grin on his face as the lightning cracks and his leg drops on top of the wolf with a sickening crack, "HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLL YEAH BROTHER!"
  50. [00:04.58] <@Valetni> The wolf, already on its last legs before it was unfortunate enough to meet you, is swiftly dispatched by application of boot to head. Kirchner doesn't appear to have killed it, but it's no longer conscious. It probably won't survive long anyways.
  51. [00:07.35] * Michael_Kirchner lifts his foot and keeps stomping the wolf's head until it stops breathing before turning to his CO and giving a big thumbs up.
  52. [00:07.43] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "Shut up!" Jamie Lee grabs Michael by the cuff and pushes him back, yelling at a whisper. "The whole point of this was to stay /quiet/."
  53. [00:08.52] * Gloria_Graf lowers her gun, surly expression slightly brightened by Kirchner's performance, but quickly turning back to anger when she realised that his little warcry might have alerted others.
  54. [00:09.39] <Anna_Barnett> "Ok. Now that we've beaten the puppy lets actually pretend we're all trained soldiers and start acting like them." Anna says straightening up and walking into the group so they can keep their voices low.
  55. [00:11.08] <Anna_Barnett> "We need eyes on that light source. Whatever it is, it beats the hell out of what we've got here." she says indicating the dead wolf cooling near their feet.
  56. [00:11.51] * Jamie_Lee_Sawyer lets Michael go and steps back, letting out a sigh to regain her composure. "Got it. Give me a second." She reorients herself best she can to see which way the lights were.
  57. [00:12.04] * Michael_Kirchner sheepishly turns back in the direction of the light, his smile fading as he brings his weapon to a low ready. "After you, Sawyer."
  58. [00:12.48] <@Valetni> As you draw closer to where you last saw the light, a village comes into view. The village looks, as best you’re able to tell in the driving rain, like something straight out of the past. Not just the past before the bombs fell, but a quaint european village that probably didn’t experience much of a change in life when they did. Thatch roof cottages cluster about each other with no real
  59. [00:12.48] <@Valetni> pattern, rhyme or reason. As you walk down the main boulevard of this two bit town, you see that all of the windows are shuttered, lending the place a desolate and abandoned feel.
  60. [00:12.49] <@Valetni> In the center of the small village is a fairly large common area, no doubt used for grazing livestock. Livestock that is conspicuously absent in your examination in this town. Two buildings stand apart from the rest, being made of sturdier materials than the others. The first is a two story building made out of wood, perhaps serving some common purpose such as a storehouse or even an Inn.
  61. [00:12.52] <@Valetni> The second is clearly a church, made from stone and sporting stained glass windows, one of which appears to have been smashed in at some point. The wind produces a high pitched whistling noise as it flows through the gap. Lightning cracks the skies overhead, followed a moment later by the low rumble of thunder that continues for several seconds.
  62. [00:12.56] <@Valetni> In the brief flash of light, you spot the silhouette of a much larger building that towers above the trees surrounding it. Perched on a mountain a few klicks away, it’s hunched over the town like some great predatory bird. Two amber lights appear in the windows of its upper levels, looking nothing so much like the eyes of an owl glinting in the night.
  63. [00:15.56] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "What the hell...?" Sawyer shudders at the eerie scene. "Where the hell is everyone...?" Her grip on her pistol tightens reflexively. "There's nobody. Do you guys hear anything?"
  64. [00:16.05] <Gloria_Graf> "Sure looks inviting." Graf says with an audible half-whisper, gun raised, casting suspicious glances every which-way.
  65. [00:16.36] <Anna_Barnett> "Ok, stay frosty people. Yes this place is quiet. Could be the villagers are sleeping. A place like this probably only has a few gennies at most." she says glancing around.
  66. [00:17.04] <Michael_Kirchner> "So, uh, what do you think of Mr. McMahon's mansion up there, sir?" Kirchner asks, pointing his body towards Barnett, his voice barely above a whispher.
  67. [00:17.36] <Gloria_Graf> "A place like this shouldn't be standing. The ruskies would have looted everything nailed down long ago."
  68. [00:18.00] <Gloria_Graf> "Or anyone else, for that matter." Graf continues to mutter.
  69. [00:18.23] <Anna_Barnett> "I think someone's still living there. And Graf is right, anyplace that big is the perfect place for the reds to set up camp."
  70. [00:19.32] * Jamie_Lee_Sawyer keeps looking at the empty houses. "It's just empty. I'm not sure someone /hasn't/ looted this place."
  71. [00:19.47] <Michael_Kirchner> "So what's our move, chief?"
  72. [00:20.45] <Anna_Barnett> "Ok, well we need to check whether anyone's still here. If it's abandoned we hunker down and try to scavenge what we can. If it's occupied we either get friendly with the locals fast or things are gonna get rreal interesting."
  73. [00:21.31] <Anna_Barnett> "Anyone, got a better idea?"
  74. [00:22.02] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "This place is a ghost town, boss. Either the pitchfork mob is out visiting Castle Frankenstein up there or they're all dead. If it comes down to where we should go for now, I'd check the wood building over there first. Looks newer than the rest."
  75. [00:22.46] <Michael_Kirchner> "Should we split up? Always works out for Scoob and the gang."
  76. [00:23.30] <Gloria_Graf> "If anyone so much as swings for me I'll shoot them in the face." Graf uttered, gun lowered as she took on a tense posture.
  77. [00:24.58] * Michael_Kirchner jerks his thumb towards Graf before side-mouthing to the others, "I see the kolonopin ran out."
  78. [00:25.12] <Anna_Barnett> "Not yet Kirch. We need a meetup point, and somewhere to fall back to if this all goes tits up. Graf, I hear you. I want everyone ready to rock and roll incase some yokel with a shotgun is hiding out here. And Sawyer, good eyes, we'll head there first and make sure it's clear, then we can split off in 2 man teams after."
  79. [00:25.21] <@Valetni> A bobbing light to your front catches your attention. A figure about 30 meters distant is walking down the path, a lantern at waist height casting a small pool of hellow that advances towards you, bobbing along with each step.
  80. [00:27.43] * Gloria_Graf Wordlessly points her only true friend, M249, at the advancing figure.
  81. [00:28.04] <Anna_Barnett> "Who goes there."
  82. [00:28.16] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> Sawyer grunts, drawing her pistol but keeping her finger off the trigger.
  83. [00:30.17] <@Valetni> The figure continues to advance, orientating on the sound of Anna's voice. The arm holding the lantern is raised, casting the net of light even wider and fully illuminating the figure holding it. A Large man, easily over two meters in height, dressed in what appears to be a black morning coat and grey vest over a white shirt, complete with black tie and white gloves. Hazel eyes are shadowed
  84. [00:30.17] <@Valetni> by thick, bushy black eyebrows, the same color of his severely combed hair. He seems unmindful of the rain, coming to a stop about 10 meters away. "Welcome." He announces, in a loud booming voice that competes with the thunder from above.
  85. [00:31.39] <Gloria_Graf> "He speaks english?!" Graf emitted, gun wavering ever so slightly.
  86. [00:33.19] * Jamie_Lee_Sawyer flinches from the loud voice, quickly casting a look around to make sure he hasn't alerted anyone else they hadn't noticed nearby. "We're still deep in the red part of the map here. That's a little too convenient." She keeps her voice low, enough that the rain should only make it audible to the others.
  87. [00:33.56] <@Valetni> Lantern held high, the man continues to advance on your position, smiling. "War weary soldiers, perhaps? Americans, or just wearing the uniform of the dead?"
  88. [00:34.43] * Michael_Kirchner keeps quiet, letting those with fancy patches on their shoulders do the talking.
  89. [00:35.05] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "Maybe best not to confirm either way," Sawyer mutters off to the side, toward Barnett.
  90. [00:36.16] <Anna_Barnett> Anna steps forward, hands off her gun. Her trust in her compatriots so great, that she is willing to speak to the man without her firearm readied.
  91. [00:37.33] <Anna_Barnett> "I don't think it matters anymore." Anna states indicating the deserted town. "Do you?"
  92. [00:38.55] * Michael_Kirchner drops his rifle to his side and walks forward, standing with his CO in solidarity.
  93. [00:42.45] * Gloria_Graf remains in place, gun trained on the man, ready to shoot if he exhibits any amount of aggression.
  94. [00:43.16] * Jamie_Lee_Sawyer likewise keeps her hand on her gun, though she keeps it pointed down at the ground.
  95. [00:44.15] * Necro (NecroNeko@sux-C7BAB2BF.range86-135.btcentralplus.com) has joined channel #acegRPGic
  96. [00:44.35] * Necro is now known as Anna-Barnett
  97. [00:45.00] * Anna_Barnett (NecroNeko@sux-C7BAB2BF.range86-135.btcentralplus.com) Quit (Ping timeout)
  98. [00:45.33] <@Valetni> The smile transforms into a grin, silently conceding Anna's point. "My Master wishes to invite you to enjoy his hospitality for the evening. The price is but an entertaining tale." The manservant says, as the rain roars down around you.
  99. [00:46.46] <Gloria_Graf> "Fat chance." Graf exclaims, trigger-finger tensing "This is bullshit horror-movie stuff, I say we just get the hell out of here, move through the night if we have to, there's nothing good here."
  100. [00:47.27] <@Valetni> A wolf howls in the woods, a chorus taken up by others.
  101. [00:47.54] <Gloria_Graf> "Oh come on..." she mutters, voice growing quiet with a bitter scowl.
  102. [00:49.03] <@Valetni> "It appears that it will be a full moon tonight." The man informs you. "The wolves become restless on these night."
  103. [00:49.08] <Anna-Barnett> "Look, we don't trust you. We'll come, but we're staying armed, and if you or your master try anything then you won't be around to tell stories."
  104. [00:49.12] <Michael_Kirchner> Michael's face brightens, "Hospitality sounds mighty fine to me, and I sure can spin a yarn, just give me a stage!"
  105. [00:50.20] <Anna-Barnett> "Think of it this way Graf." Anna says sparing a sidelong glance at the SAW gunner. "It'll be easier to shoot them if they're in front of you."
  106. [00:51.27] * Jamie_Lee_Sawyer grits her teeth, wanting to agree with Gloria but knowing their chances out there are slim, in a storm like this at night, with wolves at the gate both metaphorical and real. "Are you sure your master isn't worried about giving shelter to soldiers wearing american colors? This is Soviet territory, isn't it?" As she speaks, it occurs to her. "... Wait. How did you-... How did your
  107. [00:51.28] * Jamie_Lee_Sawyer master know we were here?" The logical reason would be Kirchner's shout earlier, but that... doesn't make sense, does it?
  108. [00:51.32] <Gloria_Graf> "He's in front of me right now." She states, but nonetheless slowly lowers her weapon, bitterness remaining on her features.
  109. [00:52.48] <Gloria_Graf> "I'd say we just take camp in one of the houses, make sure there's only one entrance, then move on when daylight comes." she states, voice stoic.
  110. [00:52.49] <Anna-Barnett> "Yeah but what if you could shoot all of them at once."
  111. [00:53.49] <Michael_Kirchner> "Besides, I never get to use my stranglin' hand! C'mon, what's the worst that could happen? We continue to do what we were already doing?"
  112. [00:54.52] <@Valetni> "The Baron Sângebăutor recognizes neither the authority of the Soviets nor the Americans. For centuries the Sângebăutor family has ruled these lands." The Manservant informs Sawyer, choosing to ignore the conversation happening amongst the others.
  113. [00:55.39] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "I see..." Sawyer bites her lip instead of pressing the fact that her other question went unanswered, resolving to bring it up with the others when they have a moment alone.
  114. [00:56.51] <Gloria_Graf> "The very fact that this guy isn't afraid of anyone shooting him or any of the wolves..." Graf commented, trailing off.
  115. [00:57.08] <Michael_Kirchner> "Good enough for me!" Kirchner grins happily and walks towards the man before bending at the waist with a flourish, "After you, moon-senior."
  116. [00:58.37] <Gloria_Graf> "Ohhh, Kirchner." the Spec 4 flashed a mocking smile towards the wrassler "You were born to be bait."
  117. [00:59.00] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "Let's go," Sawyer offers. "Just keep together and keep alert."
  118. [00:59.29] <@Valetni> The manservant leads you through the rain, up the muddy trail towards the structure you had glimpsed previously. Despite the weather and the conditions, he sets a fast pace which would be difficult for you to keep up with if you weren't used to forced marches from your training. Ascending, you're soon enough in view of a large stone wall.
  119. [00:59.29] <@Valetni> Passing through an iron portcullis, you're soon enough facing a large manor house. The majority of the windows are dark, but a handful of them in one room on the first floor are illuminated, along with several on the second and a singular one on the third. The manservant leads you to the front door, easily opening it despite the squealing protest of the hinges.
  120. [01:01.05] <Gloria_Graf> "Why did I agree to this..." Gloria mutters, gun tightly clutched to her chest, feverish gaze cast about, searching any shadows in sight.
  121. [01:01.55] <Anna-Barnett> "So, what's got you so interested in 4 soldiers out in tehr ain."
  122. [01:02.52] <Jamie_Lee_Sawyer> "And what happened to everyone down there? War chase them off?" ... or something else, she thinks but doesn't say.
  123. [01:02.59] * Michael_Kirchner steps inside before shaking off the rain like an exuberant, shaggy dog.
  124. [01:04.03] <@Valetni> "Travellers are the sole source of outside information in these days." The manservant replies as he leads you inside.
  125. [01:04.04] <@Valetni> Inside is a foyer dominated by a large iron chandelier that resembles more some wicked medieval torture device of spikes and flake. two curved stairways leading to the second floor. Instead, he leads you to the right, through a corridor filled with portraits of similar looking men in various styles of fashion. It would be an exaggeration to say that the eyes follow you, but it's difficult
  126. [01:04.04] <@Valetni> to shake the feeling that you're being watched. Eventually, you come to the end of the corridor.
  127. [01:05.31] <Anna-Barnett> "So how many people does your master employ here?" Anna asks the Manservant. "It must be hard to keep a house full of people fed."
  128. [01:06.49] * Baba_Yaga (Crumplehat@sux-E7CFA0EF.res.spectrum.com) has joined channel #acegRPGic

  131. [01:07.56] <@Valetni> He shakes his head sadly. "With the war, we have been reduced to but a skeleton crew." He replies, knocking on the door before opening it.
  132. [01:08.00] <@Valetni> Inside is a room with a fire blazing merrily along with opposite wall. Two large chairs are positioned in front of the fire, and bookshelves adorn most of the walls. Above the fireplace is a large wolf’s head, larger than any you can ever remember seeing or hearing of, mounted on the wall. To the left of it is an antique crossbow, with several bolts in a quiver next to it, their tips quite
  133. [01:08.00] <@Valetni> tarnished. To the right of a wolf’s head is an antique double barreled shotgun. Seated in front of the fireplace is a man that you must assume is Baron Sângebăutor.
  134. [01:08.21] <@Valetni> The Baron looks as if he has stepped out of one the many oil paintings that adorn the walls of his mansion. A severe widow’s peak of slicked back black hair, tinged at the temples with grey perches on the top of his face. The thin eyebrows crouching over his ice blue eyes are separated from the rest of his hair by a forehead just beginning to show the wrinkles of age. The harsh, angular
  135. [01:08.21] <@Valetni> features of his pale face are altogether at odds with the welcoming smile he bestows upon you, rising as you enter.
  136. [01:09.39] * Michael_Kirchner steps in side, whistling before pointing at the head, "That's a real furry horse you got there. Nice to meet you, Mr. Baron."
  137. [01:10.55] <Anna-Barnett> "Forgive the presumptiveness of my companion. Baron. We're all a bit eager to get into the warmth of a fire." Anna says stepping forwards. "I'm Lt Colonel Barnett, and this is my current command."
  138. [01:11.55] <JamieLee_Sawyer> Even with the creepy decor, standing in what's otherwise a very well kept living space, Sawyer can't help but feel a little awkward standing there still dripping from the rain, mud still clinging to her boots. At the same time, she can't help but empathize with Gloria, feeling a little on edge.
  139. [01:12.32] * Gloria_Graf remains in spiteful silence, scowl deeply embedded upon her features without a chance of wavering. The gun she continued to clutch tightly, her teeth grinding together in tension.
  140. [01:14.00] <@Valetni> The baron has but a hint of an accent, enough to make his voice seem exotic without any difficulty in understanding his words. "This one was responsible for the deaths of seven before it was brought to bay. One hundred years ago." He says, placing a hand on the remarkable well preserve head, stroking its fur as if it were a faithful pet. "I bid you welcome to my humble abode, Miss Barnett."
  141. [01:14.00] <@Valetni> He says with a mirthful grin, "Have you by any chance eaten yet? I find discussion much more engaging when you have something to... sink your teeth into."
  142. [01:15.20] <Michael_Kirchner> "Need help settin' the table?" Kirchner asks, slinging his rifle on his back.
  143. [01:15.23] <Gloria_Graf> "Probably spiked, or outright poisoned..." Graf mutters, audibly.
  144. [01:15.37] * JamieLee_Sawyer immediately perks up at the thought of food. If ever there was something to miss about life before the war, it's having access to actual food. Being in the military, rations have certainly been more than most have had since the bombs dropped, but rations hardly qualify as actual food.
  145. [01:17.12] <Anna-Barnett> "I hope you don't resent us if we show a little distrust Baron. Not everyone honors the rule of houseguests these days."
  146. [01:17.20] <@Valetni> "Metzger, inform the staff that we will be seating four tonight." The Baron tells the large man standing to your side, indirectly answering Kirchner's question. "You are soaked, please, warm yourself by my fire while they prepare for us." He indicates the large hearth, wide enough for a body.
  147. [01:19.24] * Gloria_Graf wordlessly wanders over to the fireplace. Grabbing a chair, she turns it slightly to the side, allowing her to warm herself while keeping sight of most of the room, gun ever ready to be raised.
  148. [01:19.53] * Michael_Kirchner saunters towards the fire, hands held out while peering at the shotgun.
  149. [01:20.23] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "... Thank you." Sawyer keeps her response short, but respectful. After a moment's hesitation, she wanders over to the hearth and tries not to think about the width. She takes her helmet off and sets it on the floor nearby, then sets about wringing out her hair. Weird as this situation is, warming up is certainly nice.
  150. [01:20.35] <Michael_Kirchner> "So what's the story behind the artillery?"
  151. [01:20.49] <Anna-Barnett> "I hope you don't mind if I stand Baron, we've spent most of the day seated."
  152. [01:21.39] <Gloria_Graf> "How many people have you eaten yet?" she suddenly asks in direction of the Baron, her voice taking on a tone divided between spite and mockery.
  153. [01:22.07] <@Valetni> "Whatever makes you comfortable, Miss Barnett." The baron replies, before returning his attention to Kirchner. "A relic of an older time." He says, gesturing to the finely detailed and worked silver and gold metal that decorates the piece.
  154. [01:22.29] <Anna-Barnett> Anna walks towards the fire, slinging her rifle behind her and taking the chance to examine the room.
  155. [01:23.00] * JamieLee_Sawyer kicks Gloria's shin at the question, giving her a "what the actual fuck" look.
  156. [01:23.15] <@Valetni> The response from the Baron to Graf's absurd question is a bark of laughter. "I see this is the famous humor of you Americans. I can assure you that I haven't eaten anyone."
  157. [01:24.19] * Gloria_Graf returns Sawyer's gaze with a false grin, stating "Just a joke."
  158. [01:24.25] <Michael_Kirchner> "Must not be very popular with the ladies," Kirchner smirks before remembering his present company and averting his gaze.
  159. [01:26.14] <Anna-Barnett> Anna, in an attempt to divert the current course of the conversation asks "I don't suppose you've hosted any other American soldiers recently?"
  160. [01:26.52] <@Valetni> The baron's reply is interrupted by the stealthy return of Metzger, capable of moving surprisingly quietly for such a large man. "The places have been set, and the food warmed, Master." He informs the Baron.
  161. [01:27.14] <Gloria_Graf> "He may or may not serve their remains as dinner." Gloria comments from her seat, waiting a moment before adding "Just another joke, of course."
  162. [01:27.40] <@Valetni> The Baron claps his hands together in good cheer. "Ah, let us continue this conversation over food."
  163. [01:28.51] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Right. Let's go, then," Sawyer responds, stopping just short of dragging Michael and Gloria behind like children. "Maybe everyone's mood will improve a bit after we've eaten." Of course, she herself has her reservations, but... The prospect of actual food is too tempting to pass up atleast seeing it.
  164. [01:29.37] <Michael_Kirchner> "After you, Mizz."
  165. [01:31.13] <@Valetni> With Metzger leading the way, the six of you retire to an elegantly appointed dining room, dominated by a large table easily able to seat twice your number. Four places have been set in the middle of the table, four gleaming white plates chased with gold rims, and flanked by real silverware, all along one side. It's almost strange to see something as clean and pure as the white tablecloth,
  166. [01:31.13] <@Valetni> totally outside of your experiences during the war.
  167. [01:31.13] <@Valetni> "Please, sit." The baron instructs you, taking his own seat. On the opposite side of the table. The manservant, Metzger, takes up his own station near the doorway. From another door, presumably leading to the kitchen, a wan looking young woman appears pushing a cart with a covered silver platter on it. "I am sure you will enjoy some fresh, cooked meat." The baron says with a smile as the
  168. [01:31.14] <@Valetni> serving girl, somewhat pale and quiet, approaches.
  169. [01:31.16] <@Valetni> The serving girl, eyes downcast, removes the covering of the platter, releasing the smell of cooked meat that wafts free from its confines. Inch thick slices of cooked meat lay stacked against each other. She serves you each in turn, placing several slices of the decadently delicious smelling food in front of you before hastily making a retreat.
  170. [01:34.01] * Gloria_Graf joins the others at the table, but, as expected, never lets go of her gun. The smell of well-prepared meat and abundantly-enriched foods made her mouth water, yet she refused to eat even a single slice.
  171. [01:34.41] <Anna-Barnett> "I must say Baron, you really go all out for your guests."
  172. [01:35.57] * JamieLee_Sawyer slings her gun over the back of the chair, then takes a seat. She eyes the serving girl with a bit of concern, feeling a little awkward. "Yeah. Can't say I'm too used to this treatment." She looks at the meat intently, the strangeness of it all not quite getting through just yet. Wasn't there a conspicuous lack of livestock outside earlier...?
  173. [01:36.07] <Michael_Kirchner> "Say Mr. Baron, what kinda meat are we munchin' exactly? You have good hunting around here?" Kirchner questions around mouthfuls of delectable protien.
  174. [01:37.32] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Well... at least it doesn't seem to be poisoned," Sawyer mutters under her breath as she watches Michael eat. After a moment, she follows suit, trying a bite or two herself.
  175. [01:38.27] <Anna-Barnett> Anna, in a display that may have earned her a promotion early in her career begins eating with the finesses of someone who has had proper table manners drilled into them in an institution of learning.
  176. [01:38.32] <@Valetni> "Please, enjoy." The Baron says, resting his chin on his interlaced fingers. "There was a very real fear that the livestock was becoming contaminated, the fallout, another tragedy of modern science." He shakes his head sadly. "We slaughtered what was still edible, so it's not as fresh as I would like to offer you. We get so few visitors that each one is a celebration."
  177. [01:40.03] <Gloria_Graf> "What kind of people lived in this village?" asks the Spec 4, putting on an overly conversational tone "Apart from the usual slack-jawed yokels whose family-trees feature no branches, that is."
  178. [01:41.02] <Anna-Barnett> "Graf." Anna warns with a quick look. "What she means is, we didn't see anyone in the village earlier. What happened?"
  179. [01:41.41] * Michael_Kirchner glances aside at Gloria and chokes down a large mouthful, "I'll have you know we've got plenty of branches on our family tree, they just all tend to come back together, like a festive wreath."
  180. [01:42.53] <Gloria_Graf> "Kirchner." Graf glances back at the man, bleak smile on her features "You have my condolences, having less IQ than chromosomes must be a hard cross to bear."
  181. [01:43.06] <JamieLee_Sawyer> That's enough to get Sawyer to stop and look over at Kirchner. "That's... We'll... We should probably talk about that at some point. Not while I'm eating, though."
  182. [01:43.07] <@Valetni> The serving girl reappears, wine bottle in hand as she fills your cups. A chalice is placed in front of the Baron, and filled nearly to the brim. He doesn't take his eyes off his guests even as the servant blocks the line fo sight. "The night is dark and full of terror. The wolves are particularly active after dark. Sheep and goats. People. We oft find the remains after the thaw in springtime."
  183. [01:44.37] <@Valetni> "Tell me, where do you plan to go after you leave here?" The baron asks politely.
  184. [01:45.35] <Anna-Barnett> "We ran into one of the wolves earlier. They actually seem to be doing worse than most wildlife we've seen." Anna notes offhand. "Anywhere, away. We're aiming to leave the country."
  185. [01:46.55] <Michael_Kirchner> "Hoping to find a nice warmer spot to settle down, mayhaps," Kirchner chimes in, trying to catch the eye of the serving girl.
  186. [01:47.39] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "The sooner, the better," Sawyer offers, taking a conservative sip of the drink offered to her.
  187. [01:48.11] <@Valetni> The girl briefly glances up at Kirchner, her tired, shadowed eyes briefly meeting his before she looks away. With the wine poured, she takes her exit.
  188. [01:51.47] * Michael_Kirchner rolls his shoulders in an exaggerated fashion and takes a sip of his wine. "You know, it ain't Idaho, but it sure is cozy."
  189. [01:51.58] <Gloria_Graf> "How long has that girl been your slave?" Graf asks in direction of the baron.
  190. [01:52.33] * JamieLee_Sawyer elbows Gloria, being careful not to jostle her gun arm.
  191. [01:53.24] <Gloria_Graf> "Just a joke." She adds, uncaring.
  192. [01:53.59] <@Valetni> "That one?" The baron asks, glancing in the direction of the kitchen. "I believe her family has served the Barony for quite some time. The people here seem to lack imagination, and require a firm, guiding hand to direct and shelter them." The baron says, before sipping his liquid. "I would not call her a slave, she is free to leave at any time, if she wanted." His tone indicates that he
  193. [01:53.59] <@Valetni> doubts she would want to.
  194. [01:54.27] --Global-- [LordLicorice] AXETOBERFEST! Noroi at 8pm (5 minutes), Empire of Corpses at 10pm EST
  195. [01:56.17] <@Valetni> "But I believe the price for this food and my fire was an entertaining tale, so far your band has been little but droll, Miss Barnett." The baron says with a hint of a smile.
  196. [01:56.20] <Gloria_Graf> "Of course, I mean, who wouldn't want to live in this fine castle surrounded by dark woods and murderous wolves that eat people..." she mutters, resigned.
  197. [01:58.10] <Michael_Kirchner> "I could talk about the time I almost won the 1993 King in the Ring match!" Kirchner begins excitedly, then trails off as he looks around at the somber faces, "but I suspect this isn't really the best audience."
  198. [01:58.11] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Exactly what kind of tale are you looking for, sir? Ghost stories?" Sawyer chuckles a bit, trying to at least feign aloofness.
  199. [01:59.25] <Anna-Barnett> Ann waits for her comrades to calm down then responds "Fair enough Baron, that was the deal." Anna pauses a moment before putting the wine glass down. "I guess I should offer something first, as it should help explain why we're here."
  200. [01:59.32] <@Valetni> "How goes this war? It is a tragic thing, is it not? So much blood, needlessly wasted. All for the ambitions of mere men." There's a mournful note in his words, as if perhaps he lost friends or family in the war. Well, it would be hard to find someone who hadn't in this day an age.
  201. [02:01.58] <Anna-Barnett> "The war is bad. I mean, all war is of course, but we really outdid ourselves this time." she stops and thinks, as if mentally keeping track of something. "I suppose I can share some details, after all any information I had is now horribly out of date for anyone trying to use it against American Military forces."
  202. [02:02.07] <Gloria_Graf> "The ones who are alive are winning, I think." Graf says with a morbid chortle "Say, Baron, are you winning?"
  203. [02:05.24] --Global-- [LordLicorice] MOVIESIGN! Noroi
  204. [02:06.33] <@Valetni> "It would depend on who is keeping score." The Baron says with a chuckle. In the corner of the room, a large grandfather clock begins to chime the hours.
  205. [02:07.13] <@Valetni> "I believe it will be a full moon tonight." The Baron says, almost as an aside to his manservant, as the clock marches its way towards midnight.
  206. [02:07.35] <@Valetni> "Indeed sir, it feels like it." Is the growled reply from Metzger to your rear.
  207. [02:08.32] * Gloria_Graf Graf tenses up at the sudden sounds of the clock, instinctively tightening her grip around the SAW.
  208. [02:09.13] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Uh... Yeah. I think he mentioned that earlier," Sawyer says, casting a wary look back at the manservant. "Not that we could really see it too well through the storm."
  209. [02:09.19] <Anna-Barnett> "Hard to tell out there with the storm raging like it was." Anna adds, glancing towards the clock
  210. [02:09.55] <@Valetni> Metzger, apparently uncomfortable despite being unbothered by the rain earlier, loosens the collar of his necktie, his professional appearance becoming more disheveled.
  211. [02:11.23] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "... Sir, with all due respect, it's late, and we've been out for a while now. I don't suppose you'd mind us turning in for the night and coming back to this discussion in the morning when we're all a little less on edge?"
  212. [02:12.25] <@Valetni> Metzger drops to his knees, letting out a grunt as his body contorts, apparently in great and terrible pain. "Oh dear." The Baron says, not even getting to his feet.
  213. [02:13.05] * Gloria_Graf turns her gaze at the man, gun pointed at the twitching figure.
  214. [02:13.28] * Michael_Kirchner points with a fork, "Epileptic, eh? So was Susie after she got kicked in the head by Bessie. Jus' let 'em roll around a bit and make sure he don't bite nothin' and he'll be fine."
  215. [02:14.13] <Anna-Barnett> Anne rises "My god, is he ok?"
  216. [02:14.35] <Gloria_Graf> "Kirchner." Graf says with eerie calmness, gaze remaining affixed on Metzger "I'm sorry for calling you bait earlier. Really, you're one of a kind."
  217. [02:14.55] <@Valetni> Agonizing growls continue to emanate from the man, as he thrashes about on the ground. SOMETHING is happening to this man, and you're not quite sure what. There's the sound of fabric tearing, and his body changes, it contorts, it... becomes. With a cracking of bones and the splitting of skin, Metzger becomes something else, his face rearranging itself in a sickening manner as his hair grows
  218. [02:14.55] <@Valetni> thicker, coarser, darker.
  219. [02:16.02] * JamieLee_Sawyer stands up quickly, pistol out. She doesn't even take the time to grab her rifle as she levels her weapon toward the man. "This isn't a goddamn seizure, Kirchner! Baron, what the hell is this?"
  220. [02:17.03] <Michael_Kirchner> "I kilt one wolf tonight, ain't no trouble to make it two," Kirchner replies, cracking his knuckles and standing from the table before flexing for the adoring crowd.
  221. [02:17.40] <@Valetni> The baron merely grins, as he sips from his cup. "Entertainment!" He announces.
  222. [02:28.23] * Gloria_Graf wordlessly squeezes the trigger, aiming to cull the threat to her well-being and damn the consequences. Momentarily, the SAW's muzzleflash flares from the unaimed gun, rapid gunfire echoing through the room at earshattering volume - before suddenly the sound ceased, replaced by a single uttered "FUCK" from the Spec 4 as her gun - her only friend - jams and leaves her at the mercies of her foes.
  223. [02:29.10] <@Valetni> The short barrage of bullets embed themselves in the now monstrously swollen arm and leg as the wolfman lumbers to his feet. A large man before, this misshapen wolf creature, monstrousity, now towers above all.
  224. [02:33.18] <Michael_Kirchner> "Choo choo motherfucker, here comes the pain train!" Kirchner shouts and throws a grenade at the monster.
  225. [02:38.22] <Anna-Barnett> "KIRCHNER NO!"
  226. [02:39.27] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "FUCK, MIKE!" Sawyer grabs her helmet off the table and slams it on her head as she dives for the floor.
  227. [02:41.16] <@Valetni> The grenade explodes, feeling like being punched in the head and gut at the same time in the enclosed space. Fortunately most of the shrapnel is absorbed by the monster. The concussive force staggers it, apparently the wolflike aspects extend to more sensitive hearing as well. The way your ears are ringing, you can only imagine how bad it must be for it.
  228. [02:42.32] <Gloria_Graf> "YOU FUCKING-" Gloria attempts to shout before the air is knocked out of her lungs a she takes a short step back, kevlar vest and helm doing their work as she quickly recovers and returns to unjamming her SAW.
  229. [02:47.31] <Anna-Barnett> Her previous burst of reactionary fire having missed completely, Anna's training kicks in as she flicks teh selector switch to semi auto and pops off 3 rounds at the beast, all the while swearing at Kirchner over the loud ringing in her ears."
  230. [02:48.16] <@Valetni> All three bullets find their mark, including one to the skull of the beast, but it seems to be shrugging off the damage. Either it's simply not enough, or being applied in the wrong manner. Either way the barrage of bullets is unable to dissuade the monster from swiping a hand full of long, razor sharp claws at Kirchner.
  231. [02:48.35] <@Valetni> Which just fall short of disembowling the man.
  232. [02:50.20] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Suggesting we bug out, 'Mam!" Sawyer hollers over the gunfire, still trying to get her footing from the blast. "This isn't working!"
  233. [02:55.08] <Anna-Barnett> "Ok start pulling back we need to make this motherfucker fall."
  234. [02:56.43] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Roger! Moving up!" Sawyer picks herself up and darts across the room, making a beeline for the kitchen door since Metzgerbeast remains in front of the way to the study.
  235. [02:14.21] * Gloria_Graf Weapon unjammed, Gloria resumes fire while simultaneousely moving with the others towards the kitchen-entry, three quick shots blazing bright before another curse indicated a new jam.
  236. [02:16.46] <@Valetni> Two of the shots manage to strike the beastman, but still he lashes out with one hand, four wickedly sharp claws longer than the dinner knives you used previously slice through the fatigues of Kirchner's right leg.
  237. [02:22.46] <Anna-Barnett> Anna, remembering movies she saw as a teenager grabs one of the long silvery knives from the table and with a healthy dose of Spec Ops magic swends it whistling trhough the air towards the creature.
  238. [02:22.54] <@Valetni> The knife sticks into the wolfman's chest, drawing forth a shriek of pain from it as it claws at the knife, a sizzling sound coming from the location until it manages to knock the cutlery free of its flesh.
  239. [02:25.39] * Gloria_Graf Silently works to unjam her gun again, keeping a watchful eye on the Warlwolf's newest injury.
  240. [02:25.58] <Anna-Barnett> Anna grabs another knife, and in an attempt to repeat the procedure misse sthe mark entirely.
  241. [02:26.44] <Anna-Barnett> "COME AT ME MOTHERFUCKER" she yells, knife already in the air.
  242. [02:28.08] <@Valetni> Instead, the wolf comes at Kirchner, redoubling his attempts to spill open his guts onto the floor.
  243. [02:37.52] <@Valetni> Bursting into the kitchen, your view is dominated by the naked body of a young man dangling from a meathook over a plastic tub. The majority of the flesh has been removed from the thigh, answering the question of what was for dinner. Pushing past her sudden nausea for the moment, Sawyer moves to the counter, hurriedly pulling open drawers and cabinets until she comes across a set of six
  244. [02:37.52] <@Valetni> carving knives. Unfortunately, they appear to be little more than good quality steel. Her search also turns up two bottles of high proof spirits not far from a pile of greasy rags.
  245. [02:43.05] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Shit," Sawyer curses, trying to keep her stomach down. That's something that'll have to stick to the back of her mind for now, but she saw first hand what those silver knives did. The steel knives might be useful, but for now, the liquor and rags might do more. She scoops those up and hurries back toward the door, calling to the others. "Hey! Anyone got a lighter!" She stuffs the rags into
  246. [02:43.05] <JamieLee_Sawyer> the bottles, juggling them between her arms as she works.
  247. [02:44.47] <@Valetni> A steely hand wraps itself around Anna's throwin hand, while the Baron's other hand grasps the Colonel's neck, tilting it to the side as the Baron grapples with her. "Someone should teach you how to behave in another's house!" He says, fangs extending from his mouth.
  248. [02:52.34] * Gloria_Graf Looking down at her gun, then back at the monster that was busily tearing into the pro-wrassler, then back at the two of her comrades grappling with the vampire, Gloria concluded that today just wasn't her day. Giving a grunt, she sprinted towards the study, turning her head just for a moment to call to the wrassler "You're doing good, Kirchner, just keep on keeping on!"
  249. [02:55.59] <Anna-Barnett> The Spec Ops officer struggles in the Baron's supernaturally effective grasp but despite her best efforts is unable to break away.
  250. [02:58.25] * Michael_Kirchner pulls the pin on another grenade with blood-soaked fingers and lets the handle fly away before grasping it in his fist and throwing his entire strength behind a punch aimed for the wolf's mouth, "DRAGON PUNCH YOU PUPPY MILL BITCH!"
  251. [03:04.26] <@Valetni> Unfortunately for Kirchner, he misses completely. The wild grenade haymaker detonates somewhere behind its left ear, removing most of Kirchner's hand and sending the werewolf staggering about drunkenly.
  252. [03:07.53] * Michael_Kirchner ragdolls across the room and slumps to the ground, unmoving as a growing pool of blood surrounds his body.
  253. [03:09.47] <@Valetni> Meanwhile, the Baron overpowers Barnett's weakening struggles as his mouth descends to her neck. Two sharp fangs slowly penetrate her skin, blood welling out as the Baron drains her of vital fluids.
  254. [03:10.55] <@Valetni> Gloria bursts through the door leading back into the study where they first met the Baron.
  255. [03:11.49] <Anna-Barnett> Anna freezes as the fangs enter her throat, and with a speed that can only be described as 'unnatural' Anna's lifeblood leaves her body as she goes pale and limp.
  256. [03:13.56] <@Valetni> Metzger shakes his head, apparently still shook up from the close range detonation of the explosive. While the Baron continues to suck Anna's limp body dry, it looks between the two doors where the remaining women have fled, then back at the defenseless Kirchner on the ground. It appears to be unable to decide who to pursue.
  257. [03:14.13] * Gloria_Graf Sprinting over to the shotgun, the Spec 4 rips it out of whatever casing holds it, checks whether it's loaded before turning the barrel towards the Wolfwool.
  258. [03:20.35] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Barnett!" Sawyer screams, finishing her makeshift molotov cocktails in time to see her go pale and limp. "Damn it! You fucking bastard!" She reaches for the nearest set of candles and waves the wick of the molotovs through it and tosses one at the Baron and the werewolf before moving over toward Mike's position.
  259. [03:21.38] <@Valetni> The Molotov cocktail, a most unaerodynamic shape, wobbles through the air and falls short, igniting the table which begins to burn quite merrily, the tablecloth and wine further feeding the pyre.
  260. [03:26.42] <@Valetni> The Baron releases Barnett, dropping her body to the cold, hard floor. He takes a moment to straighten out his jacket, blood dripping from his mouth. A handkerchief is unhurriedly produced from a pocket as he neatens up his appearance before turning his attention towards Sawyer.
  261. [03:32.06] * Gloria_Graf Giving another curse, Gloria braces the antique double-barreled over her SAW-holding arm, before squeezing the trigger, spewing buckshot at the monster.
  262. [03:35.36] <@Valetni> The tight spread of buckshot hits the wolfmonster in the chest, immediately sending it to its knees and shortly onto its back. It twitches, spasming for a few seconds more, and then becomes still in a slowly spreading pool of its own blood.
  263. [03:37.44] * Gloria_Graf Tilting her head, beginning to reload, the Spec 4 quickly scrutinizes the goings-on, noting Kirchner's twitching body amidst rapid bloodloss.
  264. [03:39.38] <@Valetni> Recognizing the threat of the shotgun, the baron picks up the silver knife previously embedded in the werewolf, and whips it down the hall towards Gloria.
  265. [03:42.46] * Gloria_Graf Unable to dodge, surprised by the Baron's mundane means of attack, the knife sinks deep into her right leg, making her hiss in pain as her hateful eyes turn to look at the vampire.
  266. [03:48.42] <JamieLee_Sawyer> Turning her attention away from Kirchner, Sawyer catches the Baron bearing down on her. "Damn it...!" She aims a kick at the man, aiming to try and shove him into the fire behind him. She swears loudly as her kick, instead of hitting, swings past the man and throws her off balance.
  267. [03:49.27] <@Valetni> Taking advantage of the Pilot's moment of imbalance when her strike fails to connect, he grabs her and pulls Jaime into a tight embrace from behind. The two of them face down the corridor towards the shotgun weilding Gloria, the baron behind his human shield.
  268. [03:51.25] <@Valetni> "Well now, if it wasn't the disrespectful one?" The Baron taunts Gloria. "What shall you do now? I have your little friend here, I can smell her blood. It calls to me. And after I drain her, you're next!" He cackles loudly in Sawyers ear.
  269. [03:52.39] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Agh! Fucker!" Sawyer grunts at the sudden shift in position, realizing all too quickly what's going on. This wasn't how she saw her life turning out when she was flying commercial airplanes. Worst she had to worry about there was... well, being grabbed from behind by creepy old men. Maybe things haven't changed so much after all.
  270. [03:55.11] <Gloria_Graf> "If by 'rude' mean 'calls you out on your shit', sure, call me rude, fucker." hissed the Spec 4, Shotgun and SAW pointed at the Baron and his hostage, paranoid mind working on sorting all the thoughts out that she had on her mind, beginning with 'why wouldn't she just unload on the sucker and get it over with in a blaze of glory'?
  271. [03:57.24] * NCLanceman (NCLanceman@sux-3B7C33B3.cpe.cableone.net) has joined channel #acegRPGic
  272. [03:57.32] <Gloria_Graf> "You know, Sawyer." called the Spec 4, annoyance clear on her features, yet slowly turning into a cold smile "I figure, you deserve a chance."
  273. [03:59.26] <JamieLee_Sawyer> Sawyer meets Gloria's eyes with a sardonic smile of her own. "No offense, but I think I've blown it already."
  274. [04:01.09] * Gloria_Graf Caring not for another answer, Gloria takes as much aim as the room allows and pulls the trigger.
  275. [04:03.21] <@Valetni> The tightly packed grouping of silver pellets strikes the Baron in his face, sending him reeling backwards as he releases his grip on Sawyer. Though not undead, he has been seriously wounded.
  276. [04:06.57] * Gloria_Graf Leading the shotty-barrel to her mouth, Gloria takes a moment to blow away the smoke, cold smile remaining plastered on her spiteful visage.
  277. [04:20.02] <JamieLee_Sawyer> Sawyer lurches away from the vampire, and darts toward the study before turning around. She glances at Mike, unable to see whether he's breathing or not anymore. Gritting her teeth, she reels back and tosses the remaining molotov, hoping to at least stop the Baron from leaving in one piece.
  278. [04:20.16] <@Valetni> Perhaps too hopped up on adrenaline after her close encounter with the Baron from Behind, Sawyer puts far too much strength into the throwing the molotov, sending it useless against the far wall. Combined with the blaze from the table, thick, choking black smoke begins to fill the air as the structure ignites. No smoke detectors sound, this building is severely behind code.
  279. [04:23.48] <@Valetni> The Baron, his face a bloody, mangled mess, hisses at Sawyer. He launches himself bodily at Sawyer
  280. [04:25.16] <@Valetni> Sawyer's quick reaction seens the Baron sailing over her, landing on all fours.
  281. [04:27.30] <JamieLee_Sawyer> "Jesus!" Sawyer ducks just in time, scrambling back to her feet as the baron flies over her head.
  282. [04:29.10] <Gloria_Graf> "Dammit, get out of the way already!" Gloria shouts, dropping the emptied shotgun before hastily firing off as many single shots as she dared.
  283. [04:29.48] <Gloria_Graf> She gives a lamenting groan as the SAW jams yet again at the very last squeeze.
  284. [04:29.53] <@Valetni> The baron's inhuman nature allows him to absorb the damage from the weapon as he rushes towards Gloria on all fours, closing the gap to only 10 meters.
  285. [04:37.56] <Gloria_Graf> Giving a bleak chortle, the Spec 4 begins to unjam her weapon, slowly backing away.
  286. [04:44.56] * JamieLee_Sawyer tries to go back to grab a table leg to use as a torch, but the fire's too hot and the table's mostly burned by now anyway. "Shit!" She turns back toward Gloria to try and catch up to them.
  287. [04:46.04] <@Valetni> The barron launches himself towards gloria, sending the both of them to the floor.
  288. [04:47.27] <@Valetni> But Gloria twists and sends the baron flying away before rolling to her own feet.
  289. [04:49.42] * Gloria_Graf sends a manic laughter in direction of the miscalculated vampire while just finishing the unjamming of her untrusty SAW. Casting a glance back at Sawyer, she gives a moment to warn the ally "Anna's up and behind you, try not to die too quickly to her, will you?"
  290. [04:50.16] * Gloria_Graf turns her attention back to the Baron, before unleashing what could very well be her finally barrage.
  291. [04:53.34] <@Valetni> The baron draws his hideous visage closer to Gloria's neck, snapping teeth and more animal than man as he attempts to tear her throat out.
  292. [04:53.57] * Michael_Kirchner gurgles and waves his stump encouragingly.
  293. [04:58.27] * Gloria_Graf struggles against the imposing creature, hopelessly pinned beneath the supernatural bulk.
  294. [05:02.29] <@Valetni> Taken unawares, Sawyer is grappled by the undead form of her former commander.
  295. [05:03.34] * Gloria_Graf hissing - or rather, growling - one last time, she rams her forehad into the Baron's bloody shotgunned face, using the last distraction given to her to pull out her grenade-bandolier as she begins to pull the pins. As the Baron recovers, trying to finish the work of tearing at her throat, she instead gives him a last spiteful smile, spitting in his face as she pulls up the explosives-belt.
  296. [05:04.11] <@Valetni> The massive explosion of multiple grenades, fragmentary and incendiary, eliminates both figures from the waist down, starting yet another fire in the hallway.
  297. [05:12.11] <@Valetni> With the death of Gloria and the Baron, Kirchner slowly crawls to the kitchen. With the help of the servant girl, the two hide in the stone basement as the fire above their heads competes with the tempestuous storm still raging. By the time they emerge in the morning, the remains are buried, except for the missing remains of Sawyer and Barnett.
