- Select all lines below the line of *** characters and paste them into Notepad or similar.
- Save as AQScore.csv (comma separated values)
- Open the csv file with Excel, google sheets or similar
- This document is an analysis of the AQ scoring system used for initial assessment of autistic traits https://psychology-tools.com/test/autism-spectrum-quotient
- It shows how each of the 50 questions is scored, the category of traits the question is aimed at, and finally a re-wording of the question to remove double negatives and show what was really intended to score a 1 for each question
- Method:
- Select column 'definitely agree' for all answers and click 'score my answers': Score is 24 / 50
- Change option on q. 1 to 'slightly agree': score = 24
- Change option on q. 1 to 'slightly disagree': score = 25
- Change option on q. 1 to 'definitely disagree': score = 25
- Reset q1 and repeat above up to q.8
- Visit https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2516538/ and look at table 2
- This separates the questions into 5 categories, and indicates those that have a negative score
- The negative score correlates with the findings from the first 8 questions, so it is a reasonable assumption to complete the table based on the pattern established.
- All commas in the original questions have been replaced with semi-colons, otherwise the csv encoding breaks
- Conclusions:
- There is no difference between definitely/slightly. Choose either agree or disagree. It is a true binary choice, as you would expect, as the score is out of 50 from 50 questions.
