- Not perfect, but pretty good! And hopefully a good showcase of how far the potential of this category can really go.
- This run uses a route where we forgo unlocking dragon time on Ancient Grove, saving about 30 seconds. Additionally, I also opted to skip the magic relic on Grove, saving around 10 seconds, but creating some minor knock-on effects for the rest of the run as you have one less comet dash to use, and in the case of Arborick bossfight, one less fireball.
- Those knock-on effects from skipping dragon time and the relic can be felt pretty hard on Celestial Caves. Where I would usually use a comet dash, I have to just do a regular charge as using the lightning vortex is way more expensive on magic without dragon time. Not to mention the crabs on the trial levels which are sooo fuking fast without dragon time. The Fire Trial portion of this level is also way more annoying, since usually you'd use dragon time to deal with the elemental golems to kill them faster/easier. I would say that is probably one of the more unoptimized segments in this run. Oh well, life goes on.
- Another strat that isn't really viable for RTA runs... yet (someone pls find a way to do this consistently) is the Pirate Fleet walksie. The way this trick works is you build up X speed for a certain amount of time, then **somehow** you can start building Z speed. This is key for this to work, because if you only have X speed, it'll send you straight into a massive death barrier/box. With the additional Z speed, you can send it slightly left past the death barrier trigger. It's unknown how to make it transition from building speed from X to Z, I assume it's just precise positioning... or something.
- Surprisingly, that didn't take me that long to get, but knowing my luck with this skip in the past, I didn't want to sit there and grind it out, so I just took the first attempt I got that made it to the bossfight. This is definitely another one of those that could be optimized more, but I'm content with just having this skip in the showcase... like at all! It's a pretty significant timesave over RTA WR, prob like 1 minute or something.
- Also worth noting that since I played on emulator the loads are around 45s faster than original PS2. So if we put that into consideration, on PS2 it'd be around a 44:00... or something...
- As for the rest of the run, Idk how it's so much faster than my pb but ye lmao I guess there's still a ways to go for RTA lol.
