  1. collecting the key in hive entrance is bad. this game almost feels meticulously designed to make this as hard as possible. every single thing that could be in our way is in our way and it creates what is quite possibly the most difficult wallcrawl in the entire metroid series
  2.
  3. you don't have space jump and screw attack is a broken piece of shit and doesn't fucking work if you don't have space jump. that means you can't cross the gap in hive entrance and you're forced to wallcrawl.
  4.
  5. there are no secret worlds in lower hive. there actually is a potential secret world in lower hive, but it would only work if screw attack wasn't a broken ass piece of shit). that means you have to use hive dynamo sw in upper hive.
  6.
  7. the two doors connecting to the elevator between upper hive and lower hive are dark beam doors and so you can't force load, and the load trigger is entirely inbounds. that means you have to use infinite speed to touch the load trigger.
  8.
  9. side note. when stuck inside collision, holding a specific direction on the control stick can sometimes cause you to build up angular momentum exponentially. no one really knows why. your angular momentum is stored as a float, and what that means is that eventually after it gets Too Big™ (Too Big™ happens at around 55 seconds or 2^64 angular momentum), your angular momentum will get set to NaN or Not a Number. NaN angular momentum is usually referred to as infinite speed. if you boost while you have infinite speed, then the game's collision system gets confused basically and it causes nearly every collision check in the game to return True. this is useful for collecting items, transitioning rooms, killing enemies, collecting drops, and in this case, touching load triggers.
  10.
  11. using infinite speed to touch the load trigger allows you to go to the next room, but it's bad because having NaN angular momentum and unmorphing specifically cause several other numbers in the game to get set to NaN as well, including the translation portion of the camera matrix. having the translation portion of the camera matrix set to NaN is called lightshow because it causes what used to be the game feed to instead look like a garbled mess of bright geometric shapes.
  12.
  13. you are then required to wallcrawl all the way to hive entrance with lightshow, and then wallcrawl to the reactor core save station. entering certain cutscenes can reset the camera matrix, removing the lightshow.
  14.
  15. wallcrawling with lightshow is called FPS, and specifically this lightshow wallcrawl is called the FPS. FPS stands for Flashing Pink Shit btw
