- Dear Rector,
- I am writing to you because of a serious problem. My name is Ali Husic, I am a student of the third year of Software Engineering program. You may remember me from a project done for Save the Children earlier this year after which you personally congratulated Kemal Hrelja, Adin Cebic and me.
- On September 14th I have been hospitalized for 20 days because of kidney disease(glomerulonephritis). This is a very serious condition which often leads to kidney failure and dialysis. Fortunately, the disease was caught on time and my kidneys have not started failing. When the semester began, I stopped hospital treatment and started going to lectures and labs. Attending all lectures and labs was exhausting for my health and caused my condition to worsen. Due to this change my doctor recommended a kidney biopsy to determine all specifics of my kidney condition. This procedure is scheduled for 1.11.2017.
- The results of this procedure will be done in approximately a month. I must avoid all physical activity, spend most of the day in comfortable lying positions and maintain a very strict diet in that period in order for my condition to improve.
- I would kindly ask you to grant me absence from lectures and labs without automatically failing for the next month so my condition can improve insha'Allah. Of course, I am able to come to interim and midterm exams so I don't lose my grades.
- It is very hard to choose between my health and education, so I see this as a possible compromise to keep my health and continue education without dormant status.
- My CGPA is 3.54, and have been attending this university regularly, engaging in projects, competitions, various activities and have been student demonstrator in Advanced Programming course. I am also highly motivated to finish my education in time and confident in my ability to successfully pass all courses of this semester.
- Hospital discharge summary is attached as evidence. I will also deliver the discharge summary from the biopsy procedure when it is done.
- Best Regards,
- Ali Husic
