- It’s funny that Kishimoto does a mini spinoff for Naruto’s son and people said he was just milking the franchise but Toriyama comes back 20 years later, gives Goku a different hair color, Frieza is a new color and makes them “stronger” whatever that means considering Buu had unlimited energy and destroyed planets instantaneously. But people don’t seem to mind this at all.
- It seems to me people just enjoy shitting on Naruto and puts Dragonball on a pedestal because it’s the “cool thing” to do. Don’t get me wrong, I loved DBZ too but the series ended perfectly at the conclusion of Buu. Dragonball Super is completely unnecessary. This to me reeks much more of a cash grab than anything and the only reason it’s somewhat successful is because people are too easily swayed to it because it’s Dragonball.
- I used to love DBZ (Still do actually) but with the new stuff, I’ve lost a lot of respect for it. I’ve come to realize just how lazy Dragonball actually is. Super Saiyan really means nothing now. It used to mean legendary but now that Goten and Trunks could do it before they were 5 feet tall makes it moot.
- All this talk about power levels is also pointless. I mean Roshi could destroy the moon back in Dragonball and Piccolo did it again before Vegeta arrived on Earth. They could already destroy planets by the time Goku and Vegeta were fighting so all this talk about “my power level is 28367280476092470629!!” “Oh yea!? Well my power level is 916361879284760827609161277161278288!” is again, completely non-sensical. That’s probably why in Battle of Gods, They started referring their powers in terms of if Goku Was a 4, Beerus was a 10 and Whiz is a 16 but even that is meaningless, what does that even mean? He can destroy half the Universe? Who cares then?
- Then there’s the fact that there’s two ways for Goku and other Saiyans to get stronger. 1.) Train in ever increasing gravity, YAWN. 2.) Get injured near death and then recover from it, YAWN. There’s absolutely nothing new in terms of how they can get stronger. I haven’t seen Resurrection yet but I hear that Frieza just trains under 100x gravity to get stronger. But what does “stronger” even mean? He kicks harder and moves faster? That’s it?
- My biggest gripe is that every attack they do is basically 1000 different ways of firing energy blasts. It’s the biggest, laziest thing in my opinion. I get it, that’s what they do, they fire energy blasts but after watching Naruto, a show where he he trained under different masters, conquered his foes in different, unexpected ways and winning them over to his side, earning the respect of people who hated him and learning new powers with different methods, it really highlights just how much more creativity went into it than Dragonball. But shit, forget all that! Let’s make Goku train on a black hole with infinite gravity and then if Beerus is a 10, Whiz is a 16, Goku is now 670823708702987029376807109173096! Let’s also kill him a few times while he’s on the black hole and give him a tub of Senzu Beans too just to make him even stronger!
