- April Wine - Tonite is a Wonderful Time to Fall in Love (one for the dads)
- Alanis Morissette - Hand in My Pocket (might be too big an artist/album)
- Alannah Myles - Black Velvet* (essential, radio alltimer)
- Alessia Cara - Here (would everyone hate this lol I like it but idk)
- The Band - The Weight (might be too American-coded)
- Barenaked Ladies - Brian Wilson* (essential band I fear)
- Bedouin Soundclash - When the Night Feels My Song (might not be popular enough)
- Blue Rodeo - Five Days in May* (essential dadrock band)
- Bran Van 3000 - Drinking in L.A. (Darj hates this song so it would be funny if it's super polarizing, but won't insist on it)
- Bruce Cockburn - Lovers in a Dangerous Time (the original not the BNL cover)
- Chilliwack - Fly at Night (more boomercore)
- Dragonette - Let It Go (putting this here because Euphie said it and I agree it rules)
- Feist - My Moon My Man (we should have her, but not "1234", and I love this song)
- Holly McNarland - Numb (90s angsty alt-pop was a Cancon specialty)
- Kiesza - Hideaway (might be more of an internet-famous hit but idk)
- K-os - Crabbuckit (maybe not essential but iconic we need it)
- Lights - Drive My Soul (because it would be wrong to not have her and sure I think this is a good pick)
- Loverboy - Turn Me Loose (80s cheese)
- Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance (it's kind of a meme and it'd be funny)
- Metric - Breathing Underwater (agreed we should have Metric, also Help I'm Alive is fine with me, maybe better in fact)
- Neil Young - Heart of Gold* (beyond essential guy)
- Our Lady Peace - Clumsy* (essential, huge band here)
- The Payolas - Eyes of a Stranger* (this was a big hit but also my host promo, I insist on it)
- Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe ('cause it rocks)
- Rush - Limelight* (we need a Rush song and this one is really nice but open to other ideas)
- Sam Roberts - Where Have All the Good People Gone (or Brother Down, idc)
- Sarah McLachlan - Building a Mystery (again, 90s angsty alt-pop)
- Sloan - Money City Maniacs (kind of bangs but I'm not going to insist on it)
- Tragically Hip - Bobcaygeon* (essential cannot overstate how key this band is)
- Triumph - Lay It on the Line (another one for the boomers)
- bubbling-under songs that didn't make the cut for reasons:
- Avril Lavigne - I'm with You (great song but might be too popular, leaning toward binning it)
- Bif Naked - I Love Myself Today (this song was not nearly as big a hit as I thought, binning it)
- Big Wreck - That Song (might be too American-coded band)
- Billy Talent - Try Honesty (instead of this put whatever song by them we want, idc)
- David Usher - Black Black Heart (a cool song but in hindsight not much of a hit, bin this I think)
- Dream Warriors - My Definition (important for history of Canadian hiphop but might not be a big enough song)
- Matthew Good Band - Hello Time Bomb (important but forgot he was Metoo'ed and thinking we would rather simply not deal with that)
- Nelly Furtado - Say It Right (might be too well-known an artist here)
- Neverending White Lights - The Grace (not that big a song I just really like it)
- Sarah Harmer - Basement Apartment (sadly forgotten artist today)
- Serena Ryder - Baby Come Back (not a big enough song and "Stompa" is way bigger)
