- S-Link 6 - Twilight (N)
- Canterlot High Library
- Since your last conversation with Twilight, she's made a point to avoid you as much as possible, even when you stop by the library.
- It's understandable with how much pressure she's been under, but it's not a comfortable situation to be in.
- That all ends today.
- Twilight looks surprised as you approach, and the closer you get the tighter she clutches her book to her chest
- It's almost as though she's trying to use it to keep space between the two of you.
- You stop when the counter is the only thing between the two of you, and lock eyes with her.
- Silence reins for a long moment, neither of you making the first move to speak.
- Finally, you have to break it.
- >Option 1 - I've had enough of this.
- S-Link +0.2
- Twilight: Well that makes two of us, [Player]. I thought I told you to stay away?
- Twilight's expression hardens.
- Twilight: Getting into McGuffin is very important to me, and your being here is distracting me from more important things.
- >Option 2 - Twilight, this isn't helping anyone.
- S-Link +1
- Twilight frowns and averts her eyes.
- Twilight: That's not true; it's good for me to be studying.
- Twilight: The more I study, the better prepared I'll be. That- that's how things are supposed to work.
- It's hard to tell if she's trying to convince you or herself.
- >Option 3 - So you're still locked away in here.
- S-Link +0.6
- Twilight: Where else would I be? This is the place that I need to be.
- Waving to the materials spread out in front of her, Twilight gives you a weak smile.
- Twilight: I might have been in here for a while, but I think I'm close to a breakthrough point.
- She pauses, her smile faltering.
- Twilight: Probably.
- When you don't move to leave, Twilight sighs and pushes her things aside.
- Twilight: What is it you want, [Player]? Other than to interrupt me, of course.
- >Option 1 - Isn't it obvious?
- S-Link +0.2
- Twilight gives you a hard stare.
- Twilight: No. No it really isn't, and it's eating into my study time, so I'd appreciate it if you just told me.
- Because of the awkward atmosphere, explaining the situation takes a little longer than usual.
- Eventually, Twilight nods her head and sighs.
- Twilight: OK, I think I understand now. And while I appreciate the offer, this is a lot of work. I wouldn't want to take up your time with this...
- You insist, and the corner of Twilight's lip curls.
- Twilight: Thank you.
- >Option 2 - I thought I'd help you out with your studies.
- S-Link +0.6
- The laugh is quick and even catches Twilight off guard.
- She covers her mouth and tries to contain an after-giggle.
- Twilight: Sorry, I don't mean to sound coarse, but this isn't a cram session. It's a rigorous program.
- Twilight leans a palm against her cheek and stares at the materials in front of her.
- Twilight: You're not wrong that some extra eyes might be helpful, but...
- Looking up, she shrugs.
- Twilight: I'm the only one in the entire school who bothered applying in the first place, so can you really blame me for going alone so far?
- >Option 3 - I'm here to help you get you into the McGuffin Program.
- S-Link +1
- Twilight's lip curls into a gentle smirk as she rolls her eyes.
- Twilight: That's a pretty bold claim there, [Player]; right now I don't even know if it's possible.
- Twilight: If you have such a surefire way of getting in, why don't you?
- You suggest that you just might, and Twilight's amused expression disappears.
- Twilight: Seriously? I-I was joking-
- Following up quickly, you add that you would need a study partner before you even attempted trying.
- Twilight's cheeks color and she gives a light cough.
- Twilight: Well, you know, maybe I'd think about helping you, if you helped me too.
- Twilight stares at you for a long while, her lips pressed into a thin, thoughtful line.
- Twilight: But you really think you would be able to help? I mean, a lot of this is really advanced, even for me.
- You nod your head, refusing to budge from your resolution.
- Finally, she sighs and shakes her head as a genuine smile crosses her face.
- Twilight: I guess we could give it a shot for the afternoon. If nothing else, you can help me by handling my flash cards.
- Looking over her shoulder, she nods towards another chair.
- Twilight: Go ahead and sit beside me, the sooner we get started, the sooner we find out if this is going to work or not.
- You do exactly as you're told and spend the rest of your time in the Library helping Twilight study.
