  4. ---
  5. >Charlie looked down to the Contract
  6. >The inkwell and pen next to it
  7. >Both writing utensils raised their eyebrows enticingly
  8. >"..So you'll-"
  9. >"Help my dear, you're not signing away the Hotel. I'll spruce the place up and give it a fresh coat of paint. You're still the Boss."
  10. >And King Dice meant it
  11. >Itching for the chance to work for a Devil again
  12. >Charlie's brows furrowed
  13. >"We're still accepting anyone that comes knocking."
  14. >King Dice nodded
  15. >"And we're gonna do our best to rehabilitate them."
  16. >Again the Die nodded
  17. >"Whatever you say Boss, your word goes. Any guest of our luxurious Hotel will be given their fair shot at cleaning themselves up. They fail to do that and then they'll call *you* the Boss as well."
  18. >King Dice explained neatly
  19. >Again Charlie reconsidered
  20. >It all seemed too good
  21. >The idea of trapping souls forever in Hell just didn't sit right
  22. >How could she live with herself having done that?
  23. >King Dice couldn't miss the hesitation on her face
  24. -
  25. >"This is your dream ain't it? Willing to do whatever it takes to make it work?"
  26. >King Dice grilled Charlie who nodded hastily
  27. >"YES! I-I mean, yes, yes it is. Its something I've been meaning to do for a long time. I want to help my people. There has to be more to life than this!"
  28. >King Dice pressed further
  29. >"Then aren't you willing to do whatever it takes to make your dream come true? Didn't you say you'd do anything to see your guests succeed?"
  30. >The fire in Charlie's gut was lit even if she was still reluctant
  31. >"But at the cost of others?"
  32. >"Lost causes, Boss. You're gonna have to accept that. Some Demons love their sins too much to let em go. I certainly won't be stepping back from the craps table anytime."
  33. >Charlie couldn't accept that
  34. >How could she??
  35. >There was good in every wayward Soul
  36. >In her
  37. >In her friends
  38. >Even in King Dice!
  39. >But who could achieve their goodness?
  40. >Who had the strength to see in themselves what Charlie saw within them?
  41. >"But...I don't want to give up on any of them.."
  42. -
  43. >"Ain't you giving up, Boss. Only way an addict can kick it is if they give it up. Ain't many down here that even imagine doing it."
  44. >King Dice's tone was without mercy
  45. >Laying the cards out right there
  46. >"That's why they didn't see much in your Hotel. Not got nothing to do with how you're finely dressed Royalty of Hades, not got anything involved with you being a goody-goody with a heart of Gold. They don't think they can, so they won't."
  47. >Mr. King Dice examined his gloved nails
  48. >His words rattling around in Charlie's head.
  49. >Big Man Upstairs, he was right
  50. >Charlie realized...admitted, glumly
  51. >She'd known all along what the biggest hurdle was
  52. >How could she help anyone if they didn't have faith in themselves?
  53. >Redemption had to come from within
  54. >Charlie couldn't make someone experience forgiveness in the eyes of the Almighty.
  55. >King Dice leaned in
  56. >"But you can get em to try from a new angle. A new method. We already know they're weak willed sinners, play off that. You wanna save them at any cost? Give em something to lose and they'll happily throw it away."
  57. >Charlie bit her lip
  58. >"Come on girl. This is your chance to finally prove them wrong. Show the world what you're made of. That you can get those saps to the Pie in the Sky and a reservation with Saint Petey. They won't doubt the word of Lucifer's little girl again."
  59. >Charlie's expression became focused
  60. >Cooled as she considered everything spoken from their meeting
  61. >Glancing back up at King Dice, the glint returned
  62. -
  63. >Charlie's elegant penmanship glided across the paper
  64. >A trail of fine black ink following her every stroke
  65. >Until her name stood neatly on the dotted line
  66. >Charlotte "Charlie" Magne
  67. >The moment it did, the paper slide out from beneath Charlie's grasp and into King Dice's
  68. >Who hastily added his own signature onto it
  69. >Before with a puff of smoke a stamp with eyes appeared
  70. >With an almost ecstatic look at being used again, the Stamp cheered as it was pressed down onto the Contract
  71. >The deal was made
  72. >Terms negotiated
  73. >And the bargain struck
  74. >Hell shuddered from the exchange
  75. >King Dice extended a gloved hand
  76. >"Put her there, partner."
  77. >The Pit Boss now turned Concierge grinned
  78. >Charlie, now having taken that leap, grinned with King Dice
  79. >She grabbed his hand in a firm grip of her own
  80. >The smile on her face a welcome echo of her old man's
  81. >King Dice grinned the more
  82. >He'd missed that Old Goat's smile
  83. ---
  84. "Fun little writing right here. Not really into the setting as much as y'all but the idea seemed fun. Happy managed to write this before the grand beginning of the show. Hope y'all enjoyed and I hope the Pilot lives up to and exceeds all expectations!.
  85.
  86. For clarification, the Deal involves a rebranding of the Hotel. Where one gambles their very Soul for the shot at redemption. The Hotel will help them but its up to them to achieve it. If they fail, their Souls belong to Charlie and they'll act as her employees forever. Either the Hotel succeeds in its purpose or Charlie has added assistance in making her idea work. Sorry if that wasn't clear." - from the anon who made this
