As she moved above ground, the scenery that greeted her was more or less what she had expected. There was nothing but sand in the vicinity. The ruins she had been in and the dense, primeval forest that had surrounded them were gone.

“What happened here...?” The change was so drastic that it was beyond belief. Looking around, she noticed an enormous black form in the distance. It was a vague figure, a dark haze in the rough shape of a person, but with no clear or distinct edges. The sinister apparition was heading towards Hanabusa. Turning around, she could see that the forest in its path had been reduced to sand. It seemed that wherever the shadowy giant walked, the land changed.

地上 に 出る。 そこ には 半ば 予想 どおり の 光景 が 広がっ て い た。 　 何 も なかっ た の だ。 そこ には ただ、 あたり 一面 を 覆う 砂 が ある だけ だっ た。 　 遺跡 も、 鬱蒼 と し た 原生林 も、 何もかも が なくなっ て しまっ て い た。 「なん なの、 これ は……」 　 あまり の こと に 理解 が 追いつか ない。 　 あたり を 見回す。 すぐ に 目 に 入っ た のは 黒く 巨大 な 何 か だっ た。 　 ぼんやり として い て 境界 の はっきり と し ない、 人 の 形 を し た 黒い 靄 の よう な もの だ。 あまりに も 禍々しい 気配 を 漂わ せる それ は、 街 へと 向かっ て いる よう だっ た。 　 振り返っ て 見れ ば、 原生林 が 一直線 に 砂地 と 化し て いる。 どうやら その 影 の 巨人 が 通り過ぎ た ところ に 異常 が 発生 し て いる らしい。
