BACKGROUND |
  ㅡ yoojin had been in foster care since she was a baby, growing up knowing only that her parents left her at the hospital. it didn't matter, apparently, that she was the only korean in the orphanage.
  ㅡ as a child, she didn't really understand until she turned 9, and suddenly everyone around her was younger than her and getting adopted left and right. since she was the oldest, couples who were looking to adopt tended to look right past her-- but she kept her thoughts optimistic, making friends with every kid that came. watched them go with new people to love them.
  ㅡ she was eleven when a couple finally found an interest with her. they had wanted a daughter, only to have two sons. so they had decided they would adopt, but didn't want to go through the whole process of teaching another baby. yoojin, as the oldest and most educated, had caught their attention immediately.
  ㅡ they had raised her lovingly, and she immediately became fond of her new family, especially her little brother. they helped her adjust to the different culture of japan, seeing as she was definitely out-of-place with her american beliefs.
  ㅡ as she grew up, she was influenced by all the talent around her; her new mother would sing as per request from any of them and taught them how every note should flow together. her new father would teach her how to move with grace when his job of being a neurosurgeon wasn't calling his name. and her brothers-- one older by four years and the other younger by three-- had influenced her as well.
  ㅡ when her eldest brother was 22, he would teach yoojin everything he could about dancing, and is the person who encouraged her to pursue dancing. the youngest had been rapping underground and, by the age of 13, was scouted by a company overseas in korea.
  ㅡ she was proud, and though she wasn't able to tell him in person often, she would constantly show her support on social media and buying merchandise with money she earned from working at their mother's cafe. her father had become suddenly too busy to teach her much, working more than eight hours and the pager that stuck with him like glue phoned for his presence too many times for her to count, even on his day offs.
  ㅡ she was discovered by an sm entertainment recruiter at the age of 18, and cast into the company under the name of 'eve' after her audition. at first, she was happy, being featured on their youtube channel and being able to share herself with other people. making new friends.
  ㅡ until the later months of her second year of training came, and they had planned on debuting her-- just needed to make a few last-minute touch-ups. they began to give her longer practice schedules, and she, being as stubborn as she was, tried to balance that with her hectic university schedule. often she would faint in the middle of practice, or class, and so she was asked to leave. not only by the company (for not fulfilling their standards), but by her parents as well.
  ㅡ she didn't stop with her dream of becoming an idol, auditioning for jyp and was glad when she was recruited. though it's not open knowledge that she's adopted, and not a lot of people know it in the first place.
