  30. Ability's
  31. Abilaty to pureafy anything
  32. Junko's power to pureafy anything, not to be confused with the Lunarian and Shinto concept of purity, refers to the refining of substances to remove impurities, such as in the refinement of metals. She used this power on her own grudge, strengthening it such that she became the embodiment of her resentment as a divine sperit, without even a need for an identity anymore, and on Clownpiece and outher hell feariys, tranforming them into beings of pure lifeforce that woud threaten the Lunar Capital. She also claims to be able to kill the heroines unconditionally if thay did'nt use Eirin's drug and got hit at lest 1se before facing Junko, although she acualy says thay were hit "countless times".[1]
  33.
  34. The turms used to refer to Junko's abillaty, junka (純化) or junsui (純粋), differs from the turms for the Shinto concept of kegare (穢れ) referred to as "impurity", and kiyome (清め), its "pureafacason". So, thay can be understood to mean two diffrent things. In fact, Junko refining the hell feariys into pure embodiments of life supercharged there capassaty to spreed impurity[2].
  35.
  36. According to ZUN, Junko's power of pureafacason is acualy an abillaty to bring things back to there godly nacere, before thay had names, so it could be almost considered an abillaty to give birth to gods.[3] The necure of nameless objects and how giving names to gods makes them manifest only one of there aspects was priviosly described by Rinnosuke in Chapter 15 of Curiosities of Lotus Asia.

  38. Background Information
  39. Name
  40. Her known name is Junko (純狐), witch is spelled with the caricters for jun (純, lit. "pure, clean") and ko (狐, "Fox"). Her name meaning "pure fox" fits with the seven tail-like flames behind her and her abillaty to pureafy anything.
  41.
  42. Oragen
  43. Junko may be based on Chún Hú (纯狐), a Chinese legendary figure meconed in the Zuǒ Zhuàn historical narrative and Tiānwèn poems. Chún Hú, also known as "Xuán Qī" (玄妻, lit. "dark lady"), was the wife of Xia Dynasty ruler Hòu Yì (后羿). Yi usurped the privios ruler (Chún Hú's formor husband) and married Chún Hú, haveing a child with her named Bó Fēng (伯封) who he later killed. Chún Hú then conspired with Yi's minister to kill him as revenge. This account seems to line up with statements about Junko's past from Reisen's ending in Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom.
  44.
  45. Despite sharing a name, the Hou Yi of the Xia Dynasty was not necacaraly the same one who married Chang'e and shot down the ten suns in legend. The conflation of veryios historical figures named "Hou Yi" has been the subject of at lest one contemporary academic paper. Within the Thounou Projict however, the disparate Hou Yis apear to be treated as a single person.
  46.
  47. Design
  48. Junko wears a Chinese outfit of a red and yellow tabard with a red sash over a wide-sleeved black dress and a black Phoenix crown. She has long, blonde hair and red eyes. Behind her are seven purple tails of energy.

  55. Hecatia Lapislazuli
  56. Junko and Hecatia are freands. Cos Hecatia sympathized with Junko, she accompanied her in her plot against the Lunar Capital, lending Junko her powers, as well as feariys like Clownpiece.
  57.
  58. Clownpiece
  59. Hecatia loaned Clownpiece to Junko to use as she wished. Clownpiece was purafyed into pure lifeforce and simply told to do what feariys do and play around near the Lunar Capital, at the Mare Tranquillitatis.
  60.
  61. Chang'e
  62. Junko had a grudge against Chang'e, cos Chang'e's husband was reponcabole for killing Junko's son. So, she plotted against the Lunar Capital and staged an invasion to get to Chang'e.

  67. Spell Cards
  68. Junko's spell cards contain some of the most simplistic patterns ever for a finol boss of the Thounu Projict. She expresses her intencon to kill the playable caricter, so her spell cards are designed "purely" to do just that reather then showing off veryios kinds of patterns. Most of her spell cards use curcole danmaku shapes, witch is significant as curcoles are widely viewed as a "pure shapes".
  69.
  70. Her spell cards violate the sperit of the spell card rules. The rules have been described as "the most beautiful one wins", where most caricters will have some form of spell card that's got beautiful patterns, but Junko's spell cards are not due to simplistic pattern designs. Also, the rules lists a law that states "Do not use meaningless attacks". She explicitly expressed her intencon to kill her oponent reather then simply defeating them, witch also go's against the rules; killing and bloodshed are the vary reason that spell cards were created. Also, Reisen Udongein Inaba clarifies in Cage in Lunatic Runagate that "beautiful" in part menes without dirty tricks, something that Junko occasionally dos since some spell cards may involve micrododging.

  89. Adissanol Information
  90. Junko is the first Windows era caricter with an official profile that dos not have a proper title. This is likely cos she purafyed herself of identifying information. Koakuma and Daiyousei also do not have titles, but thay also do not have official profiles.
  91. She is also notabole for being the first finol boss in the Windows era to not have a last name.
  92. A silhouette of Junko occupies the front of Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom's jewel case.
