  1. [4:04 PM] Badical Radsworth: what strikes me
  2. [4:04 PM] Badical Radsworth: and this may be stating the obvious
  3. [4:04 PM] Badical Radsworth: is that the frisk/chara dynamic is flipped
  4. [4:04 PM] Badical Radsworth: we, the player, are still an outside force bringing in different values, just like in undertale
  5. [4:04 PM] Badical Radsworth: but in undertale we bring violence to a world that is best operated peacefully, represented by chara
  6. [4:04 PM] Badical Radsworth: but here
  7. [4:05 PM] Badical Radsworth: things would have worked just fine if we went violent, and according to the townsfolk thats how kris normally is
  8. [4:05 PM] Badical Radsworth: but *weve all played undertale*
  9. [4:05 PM] Badical Radsworth: were bringing undertale values to a normal rpg, not the other way around
  10. [6:46 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Chara doesn't actually represent that in Undertale, they just represent the consequences for what *you* do.
  11. [6:47 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Chara lusts for power and becomes violent because of our traditional RPG values (or morbid curiosity) pushing them to kill.
  12. [6:48 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: This is why they're confused and betrayed if you do the Genocide route twice, recreating the world just to destroy it once more and killing for fun.
  13. [6:49 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: They'll openly tell you that if you play again, you should do a more pacifist route instead.
  14. [6:49 PM] Badical Radsworth: mmm
  15. [6:49 PM] Badical Radsworth: they definitely had some sadistic tendencies when growing up with asriel
  16. [6:49 PM] Badical Radsworth: just like kris seems to
  17. [6:50 PM] Badical Radsworth: they have antisocial tendencies but its up to you if that grows into outright murderousness
  18. [6:51 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: "Where are the knives" and the fire poking tools being dulled hints more about self-harm to me than it hints to harming others.
  19. [6:52 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Especially because from what can best be determined, Frisk and Chara both knew that they "wouldn't come back" when climbing Mt. Ebbot.
  20. [6:54 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Although we don't know why Frisk attempted to commit suicide via mountain, it's heavily implied (if not outright stated) that Chara attempted to do so as a result of being abused (verbally/emotionally if not worse) by humans.
  21. [6:58 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Kris definitely has sadistic tendencies, but Chara gets a rather undeserved bad reputation a lot in the Undertale fandom
  22. [7:00 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: (Mostly because we do think we're above consequences, going so far as to hack our save files to remove them. Why not push our own actions onto Chara too so we don't have to take responsibility for them?)
  23. [7:01 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Chara's not the one pressing the buttons to spend hours upon hours grinding to kill every random encounter in every area, after all. They don't press the "Fight" button for us.
  24. [7:02 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Ultimately, they don't even kill Flowey without us pushing them. That moment where Flowey stops talking and you have to press "Z" to kill him? That's actually your last chance to reset. Chara doesn't kill him until you make them.
  25. [7:03 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Up until after that one final Z press, they give you the option time and time again to back out without any consequences.
  26. [7:03 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: That dust is on *your* hands.
  27. [7:11 PM] Blaze the Catgirl: Sorry, I just have strong beliefs about the message of the Genocide route.
  28. [7:16 PM] shinyjiggly: it's all cool
