  54. In 1868 England, thief Dario Brando raids an overturned carriage, thinking that its occupants are dead. But upon discovering George Joestar and his young son, Jonathan (nicknamed JoJo), alive, Dario appears to have saved them. George promises to forever be indebted to Dario. Twelve years later, JoJo is an aspiring gentleman when the dying Dario orders his son, Dio, to fulfill George's debt by moving in with the Joestars. Malevolent Dio agrees to do so, but he secretly vows to displace JoJo as heir. Welcomed into the family, Dio outshines JoJo in various gentlemanly tasks and bests him in the boxing ring, all while spreading lies among JoJo's friends. Dio even corrupts JoJo's childhood love, Erina Pendleton, giving her her first kiss and turning her away from JoJo. JoJo finally flies into a rage and attacks Dio. At first, Dio has the upper hand, but when JoJo catches him off guard, some of Dio's blood lands on an ancient stone mask, which reacts strangely.
  55. In the first episode of JJBA: The Phantom Blood a lot of things are happening in the story so intense that in the end we don't know what to expect next. We see some British drama with the origins of two of the most important characters in JoJo's franchise: naive, honorable, sincere protagonist - Jonathan Joestar and over-the-top behaving, ambitious villain - Dio Brando. Even if you didn't like that style, the series is worth giving a chance because of the next adventures which will change action and plot to the absurdly awesome level. The animation and voice acting are spot-on, transitions between ordinary storytelling, dramatic pauses and fights look naturally and the art style respectfully pays homage to Araki Hirohiko's manga from 1987. At some points we can say that anime did better job in keeping viewers interesting.
