- Rules:
- - All items must be obtained from their natural source (Source Requirement).
- - You may not obtain items in a way that bypasses the source requirement (even
- if you intend to fulfill that requirement later).
- - Variables that are indirectly relevant to 100% (ie. number of killed enemies) can be
- written to.
- - Universal Secrets may be used for accessibility purposes, for the sole
- purpose of telling secrets to NPC's, since everything's in japanese. You may
- NOT tell the normally unused ring secrets to Farore, and you may NOT use
- universal secrets with the red snake to obtain rings.
- - An upgrade may not be obtained twice from the use of secrets.
- Clarifications:
- - Obtaining an item from its "natural source" means that it must be obtained in
- the room it is normally in, through the mechanism it is normally given by.
- - Upgrades may not be obtained from the same source more than once.
- Rationale:
- - A source requirement is necessary unless we want the end of the Ages run to
- consist solely of writing items into our inventory once we achieve ACE.
- - It is impossible to verify the source requirements for rings, so we must
- restrict the ability to write them (and items in general) into the player's
- inventory.
- - The hybridized Ages file can receive secrets from both unlinked Ages and
- linked Seasons. To prevent ie. getting both satchel upgrades from these
- secrets, we disallow the use of secrets for an upgrade multiple times.
- - Allowing universal secrets _only_ for the 5-letter secrets shouldn't change
- much except ordering, because we still have to talk to the NPCs to set their
- flags before talking to Farore (unless we ACE over that of course...).
- HOWEVER, allowing the use of return secrets for rings would allow us to
- bypass those sidequests and completely remove the 1st seasons playthrough.
- Since the rings are not supposed to be obtained this way (it is unused
- functionality), it is not allowed.
- - Even if universal secrets were disallowed, it would still be possible to use
- ACE to overwrite the GameID with some consistent value to get consistent
- secrets. Allowing universal secrets seems simpler in terms of rules.
