  1. Where she's brought along, it is the place of serenity and peace.
  2.
  3. Away from the prying eyes, away from the disturbing noises. It is, after all, something that the Prince could not afford in his practice - to be interrupted and constantly negged about anything in particular. After all...
  4.
  5. What he's witnessed the other day in translocation could very well mean death, if one were to make a mistake.
  6.
  7. A fate most unfortunate, one he would rather not repeat.
  8.
  9. Still, where they come to such distant place, his gaze eventually turns towards Annete - this is a dangerous task, and he acknowledged it as such. To that end..
  10.
  11. He must explain everything thoroughly.
  12.
  13. "Annete."
  14.
  15. "What I'm about to show to you is a dangerous, destructive magic. It could result in death and devastation if not controlled properly - but do not fear."
  16.
  17. "I've made my experimentation already, and I figured how to make it much safer in experience."
  18.
  19. Just how much safer is it, actually?
  20.
  21. "I would require to attune to this place through the runecasting technique - but as you already know, runecasting is rather exhausting, so I would need your help in inscribing the runes too."
  22.
  23. A pause.
  24.
  25. "I'll instruct you along the way, but.." Another pause- there, he summons forth the shadowy amalgamation that often accompanied him.
  26.
  27. "The Collective will watch over you. It already knows the necessary runework."
  28.
  29. "So it'll ensure no mistake is made."
  30.
  31. "Are you ready?"
  32. (Ambrose Roche)
  33.
  34. In her mind, she does wonder why the Prince has chosen her to assist in this matter. Though it is soon rather easily explained by the mention of runecasting. And as well as the matter of trust, of course.
  35.
  36. A tilt of her head comes...
  37.
  38. She has heard enough about riftmancy to know its reputation. In that regard, she gives an understanding nod.
  39.
  40. Though, the idea of being 'watched over' by the Collective does make her raise an eyebrow. "Do you mean that it will guide me to ensure I make the inscriptions correctly?"
  41.
  42. it is important to clarify, after all. One mistake could very well end poorly in this.
  43.
  44. "Other than that, I'm more than ready."
  45. (Annete Alricht)
  46.
  47. Naturally, this would be the case.
  48.
  49. With the Collective watching over Annete, there's no way that there would be a failure - given the fact that it was closely connected to its owner. To an extent, one could say they even shared mind, thoughts and, somewhat, even emotions..
  50.
  51. A boon and a curse alike.
  52.
  53. "Yes. The Collective would guide you through the process and ensure you do not inscribe anything wrong."
  54.
  55. "But it shares energy with me, as it lives off my mana. It will show you the runes - but it will not inscribe the active, mana-infused runes on its own."
  56.
  57. "Otherwise, I will drain myself twice as fast."
  58.
  59. It should be made clear as to why Annete was called upon by now - he needed someone he can trust, someone who was capable candidate for runecasting, and someone who could follow the instructions like this.
  60.
  61. She fit that description just fine.
  62.
  63. But already the Prince begins the first inscription of therunes, all to attune to the single location in the whole of Eternia- as the host of such ritual, he's the one to begin infusing the mana into it. Perhaps, if she had ever witnessed spatial magic runes, she might have a clue what it is, but...
  64.
  65. If she didn't? It looks jumbled.
  66. As if it makes no sense.
  67.
  68. "The runework of this model is essentially a three-part triforce of a whole circle - divided into three parts."
  69.
  70. The first part is already beginning to shimmer and glow; there, despite not looking physically exhausting, the sweat begins to run down the side of the Prince's head; it is much more straining than one could imagine.
  71.
  72. To infuse it with one's mana,
  73. and Annete is about to feel it.
  74.
  75. Yet, the Collective shows Annete her own part too - identical to Ambrose's runes, albeit with slight differences, it is shown that she would have to inscribe the runes in parallel to the particle.
  76.
  77. Essentially, a mirror image.
  78.
  79. Mirrors...
  80. A symbol of crossing over?
  81. To other worlds, realms, locations?
  82.
  83. "You can begin."
  84. (Ambrose Roche)
  85.
  86. "Ah..." A nod comes Ambrose's way. So she has surmised correctly, then. The idea does not disturb her - considering how many times she has seen the shadowy amalgamation...
  87.
  88. And, in general, she has hardly had any reason to fear it. If anything, she has always seen it as merely an extension of the Prince.
  89.
  90. "Alright. Ready whenever, then." And soon after Ambrose begins making the first inscriptions. She does, indeed, hardly recognize them - never having experienced such magics first-hand. The runes do get curious glances from her, but... she does not linger on it for too long. She has to maintain focus on the work itself, after all.
  91.
  92. Ambrose gets a passing glance of concern from Annete - if only for a few moments. Already exhausting himself this much so early in the day.
  93.
  94. "I see..." She mutters as she steps closer to where the runes are to be inscribed. The deviation is taken note of, and she adapts accordingly, all the while shooting occasional glances towards the rune already inscribed by Ambrose, using it as an example to work off.
  95.
  96. With gliding, slow, methodical motions it is done, traces of her mana manifesting itself with an occasional shimmering flicker of green. With the rune inscribed, a hand moves to wipe the sweat off her forehead, as well.
  97.
  98. "There."
  99.
  100. (Annete Alricht)
  101.
  102. Manifestation of distortion.
  103. Juxtaposition of reality.
  104. The twist of space.
  105.
  106. The Collective buzzes in thoughts and whispers, and perhaps for the first time this dark creature seems to oddly smile - perhaps let loose for the slightest of moments by its owner, for the Prince was focused on the process of creating something incredible at his fingertips.
  107.
  108. Yet, it does not leave. It knows it cannot live without him.
  109. Instead, it continues to steadily guide Annete.
  110.
  111. "We could use this to create something grand."
  112.
  113. Little by little, piece by piece - the creation of the three-part circle is coming to life. Here, she could already see the gathering of the tumultuous energy, of purple hue and incredibly powerful nature; in a sense, many would recognize it as something foul, wicked, destructive to the world...
  114.
  115. And they wouldn't be wrong. Riftmancy is destructive, as much as it can be used for creation. But the reason that Ambrose chose itover Wayfinding is precisely the potential of destruction it holds.
  116.
  117. "As of late, the Shadowmire has been pestering us a whole lot. I intend to learn it to the extent of being able to translocate whole places." This..
  118.
  119. Surely sounded like a mad idea, didn't it?
  120.
  121. "I want to translocate Shadowmire elsewhere on Esshar. Banish it from our region."
  122.
  123. A grand, but insane idea. Such grand evocation would most definitely take the strength of myriad magi - and perhaps that's precisely his intent, already learning how to work with another magi. And yet..
  124.
  125. The second part of the three-part circle is steadily complete. Here, she could already see it slowly coming together, brimming and shining with immense potential. The first ripples in the space before them are made.
  126.
  127. She could see a familiar image.
  128. Is that... Asphodel?
  129.
  130. "Carry on with the mirror image of the second part on your side."
  131. (Ambrose Roche)
  132.
  133. "That's the plan, isn't it?" And grand it is. Translocating the entirety of the Shadowmire elsewhere certainly does sound mad, but...
  134.
  135. Does it not also seem logical? If such a possibility exists, then it seems only fair to take it. The lives of the denizens of the Mire hardly mattered to Annete herself - if only as prey for the vampires to be fed upon.
  136.
  137. The fact of Riftmancy's destruction, much like the matter of the monsters' lives, is simply accepted, and hardly paid mind to. It is a tool to attain goals, in the end.
  138.
  139. As long as it doesn't harm those she cares for, it doesn't matter what is used.
  140.
  141. "Translocating so much land will certainly take a lot of mana." She furrows her eyebrows. Certainly, he already knows this. "It could likely backfire if we don't have enough people for something of this scale." And the consequences of that could be devastating to the Kingdom. To themselves.
  142.
  143. … But certainly he already knows this? Nevertheless, the concern is aired whilst she continues the work on the mirror image, finalizing the second part of the three-part triforce.
  144.
  145. An image is seen, and a blink occurs, only for her concerns to be reinforced.
  146. (Annete Alricht)
  147.
  148. A mad idea,
  149. of a mad man.
  150.
  151. As much as he remained in control of the dark impulses brought forth by Occult, it by no means would mean that they didn't exist anymore - such impulses were constantly feeding into idea of the grand feats, something to perform that no one else has ever done before.
  152.
  153. Tempting.
  154. Whispering.
  155.
  156. At all times. Perhaps, it could even be questionable whether the Collective is truly an obedient servant to Ambrose - or it has gained sentience over the years, and those buzzing whispers are something that only Roche can hear and understand.
  157.
  158. Perhaps, it's best if nobody else knows. Yet still...
  159.
  160. The third particle is already made; shimmering with intense power and potential unseen, these spatial runes perhaps serve to mark the precision that's commonly not a thing for the Riftmancy - albeit, some of this runework clearly bruteforces its way against the world..
  161.
  162. But not in a wild, uncultured manner.
  163.
  164. Instead, it's akin to a surgeon's blade - cutting away to access the place he precisely needed. Until...
  165.
  166. The two of them begin to see the sparkling.
  167.
  168. The image of Asphodel before them - some of the villagers even looking up at the sky, confused at what they're seeing. In such sense, the spatial magic remains a truly terrifying tool.
  169.
  170. Something could appear above you and you wouldn't even know.
  171.
  172. "It would take a lot of mana, yes."
  173.
  174. "But why do you think I've gathered the Collective so far?" He remarks to the shadowy servant.
  175.
  176. "It contains the essence of myriad magi at this point. I know that I couldn't do this all alone."
  177.
  178. "So I'll take upon the people of Asphodel - and the people from whom I've taken a part of them."
  179.
  180. Soon, he continues.
  181.
  182. "Do you see this image, Annete?"
  183.
  184. "What lies before us?"
  185. (Ambrose Roche)
  186.
  187. Perhaps she should be worried about the effect the Occult has on his mind. Perhaps she should be worried about those impulses, and the madness of the idea-...
  188.
  189. But she seems willfully ignorant or blissfully unaware. Either way she carries on with the instructions, helping him carry out the practice necessary for such an endeavor. She believes in him, after all.
  190.
  191. And that's all that matters.
  192.
  193. Another set of blinks occurs as she peers into the moving image of Asphodel-... an innate desire to test the capabilities of the magic is there, but she knows better than to foolishly try to put her hand through it and see what happens.
  194.
  195. She has already heard the stories, after all.
  196.
  197. "Ah..." She is reminded of that part of the Collective. An amalgamation of magi's essences. Though a nod is given as if to say her concern is addressed, truthfully it is still there, gnawing at the back of her mind.
  198.
  199. "I do," Annete dryly replies as the emerald greens shift to gaze into Ambrose's eyes. "I think I see success."
  200.
  201. Success, at least in the context of their practice. A faint smile is offered to the Prince.
  202. (Annete Alricht)
  203.
  204. Manifestation of grandiose.
  205. The display of excellence.
  206. Raw power.
  207.
  208. All of descriptions were true in such scenario - for where such groundwork for the runecasting is finally made, at last, the Prince finds it in him to attune to this very location across the entirety of the Eternia. There is something indescribable about such a process- where the power of the Riftmancy grows at its highest, and if only then...
  209.
  210. An impulse.
  211. Spreading out across the land.
  212.
  213. Powerful and sudden- spreading like a shockwave into the far off lands, and even the oceans. Perhaps to many it would be worrying to witness that, but the Prince would only grow a smile across his features when he'd see that.
  214.
  215. With such location being something he had attuned to, and now serving as an 'anchor point', he would always have something to go back to - should he ever lose himself to this traversal of the Void.
  216.
  217. But now..
  218.
  219. "--It is success."
  220.
  221. "Now all that remains is to find myself translocating something... great." After all, it would be preparation for the Shadowmire.
  222.
  223. And what he would do with it.
  224.
  225. "But I believe I'll handle that on my own."
  226.
  227. "I do not want to subject you to this danger."
  228. (Ambrose Roche)
  229.
  230. That impulse, if only for a moment, seems to remind Annete just what kind of path has taken ever since the day she has met Avelin. The path of ambition and power. Such things seem to often go hand in hand with immortality.
  231.
  232. Emerald greens gaze off into the distance as the ripples on the water of the ocean are seen, watching the shockwave travel far...
  233.
  234. wondering just how many would catch on to what has been done.
  235.
  236. "Something... great?" She asks as she straightens herself out. A hand once again moves to wipe the sweat off her forehead after all the exhausting inscription of the runes.
  237.
  238. It is always tiring work, this time more than ever. Though as to his last words... there is a frown.
  239.
  240. "What are you going to do? I'd still like to help." Despite whatever he may wish, her impulses drive her to be even more involved in this matter - even if she may have reservations about it yet to be shared.
  241. (Annete Alricht)
  242.
  243. Such grand design.
  244.
  245. It might be his own undoing, and yet Ambrose keeps moving forward with utmost confidence. Why wouldn't he? After all, when such greatness is at stake, he wouldn't relent - it's simply impossible to do so by his standards. And even now..
  246.
  247. There's only a smile- soon, the shadowy amalgamation disappearing too.
  248.
  249. "Creation of the separate realm."
  250.
  251. "A place nobody could reach but me - a place where I could rule."
  252.
  253. The Riftmancy could also create, and not just destroy - something that most didn't quite realize. Though, before anything else, he soon speaks.
  254.
  255. "But I lack experience to do so. By far."
  256.
  257. "First comes the translocation of Shadowmire and my further mastery, and only then I would attempt a feat as grand as that."
  258.
  259. Isn't that how gods are made?
  260.
  261. A realm of their own, where they could rule... and with the power over space and various creatures - perhaps, that's exactly what Ambrose wants to achieve in the long run.
  262.
  263. Immense power.
  264. Immortality.
  265. Ruling a realm.
  266.
  267. It's all too familiar with what Primordials possess, which may evoke a thought about what he intends to do with all of his strength. But even then...
  268.
  269. "It would come, all in due time."
  270.
  271. "And when that time comes, I will call upon you."
  272.
  273. The future held great promise.
  274.
  275. As long as he kept moving towards it.
  276.
  277. Like he always does.
  278. (Ambrose Roche)
  279.
  280.
