  6. Do you dare to dream?
  7.
  8. ===
  9.
  10. >A voice rings out.
  11. >Calm and gentle.
  12. >Like a mother's song lulling you to sleep.
  13. >But then the song started to change... and you hear a voice call out your name.
  14. >It's not your name, yet it feels familiar to you.
  15. >A light flashes before your eyes.
  16. >It's time to wake up...
  17. -
  18. >"Casey!"
  19. > Casey's eyes snap open as his father's voice rings out from below.
  20. > The monster hybrid blinks and stares at the ceiling as the fan overhead continues its rotation.
  21. >"Time to get up, son! It's time to get to school!"
  22. >Casey moans tiredly and drops his head back. "But... I don't wanna..." He then rolls to the side and drops out of the bed.
  23. >"Oooooooooooooookay, but Pines is waiting down here for you! She said you were going to ride her to school?" Then came that gremlin chuckle. "I mean that's a poor choice of words on your part if you're going to skip out of school just to-"
  24. >His eyes immediately snap open. Then he picks up the pillow, rushes down the stairs, and throws it at the human with the smuggest look on his face.
  25. >He's still smiling even with the mark on his face.
  26. >"Shut up, Dad! Not another word!" The blushing hybrid exclaimed.
  27. >"... Another word."
  28. >Casey picks up the pillow and... throws it at him again, only eliciting roaring laughter from the human.
  29. >"Ya done? Cause Sophia and Kent are waiting in the car."
  30. >"I didn't get washed yet."
  31. >"YEah well... that's your fault for sleeping in. Just do what I do and go in what you have on now."
  32. >Casey looks down to see that he's still wearing his jean jacket and pants, with his white shirt underneath.
  33. >"Ya know serial killers FEAR the man who sleeps with jeans on right?" His dad cackles again.
  34. >"Yeah, yeah. Can we get on with it?"
  35. >"Of course! Too bad you didn't get to say goodbye to your ma and Sally." his dad holds up a lunch bag. "She already prepped it up for you. Told you 'get going or you're gonna be a dumbass like your dad!' Make sure you don't prove her right."
  36. -
  37. >Casey huffs as he takes the lunch bag from his dad.
  38. >"Oh and don't forget your school bag!" The human tosses a blue bag out of nowhere that nearly struck him in the face.
  39. >"Gah! Geez! Dad! Easy with the toss!"
  40. >"Just be glad it wasn't your mother or else you'd probably end up with stitches."
  41. >"Yeah yeah yeah. Do I have to get in the car? You said Pines was waiting for me.." Casey looks around. "So... Where's Pines anyways?"
  42. >"Oh she isn't here. I just said all that stuff just to get you up."
  43. >Casey just stares at him and squints.
  44. >"...Ya know what? I'm taking my bike."
  45. >"That's the spirit! Keep up your physique Casey my boy!" You'll impress the flower girl in no time."
  46. >"I'm not... " Casey can feel a vein growing in his head. "Ohhh.... I'm already getting a headache."
  47. >Casey leaves the house and without a moment too soon to escape his father's antics. Kent and Sophia were waving at Kris from the backseat of the car.
  48. >One little yellow purebred dragon with brown hair, distinctive of his father's look and style but coveirng his entire face save for his snout.
  49. >Another is a purebred human with eyes a deep shade of purple and hair a darker purplish color reminiscent of their mother.
  50. >"See you Casey! Good luck at school!" Sophia calls out.
  51. >"Just don't die bro," Kant adds with the slightest smirk. "And have fun with your girlfriend."
  52. >"She's not- S-shut up Kent." And cue them sticking their tongues at one another before Casey takes up his bike and rides off.
  53. -
  54. >Casey rides off into the street, taking a hill leading downward toward the town of Shore Town.
  55. >A bustling little town that is known for two things:
  56. >A beautiful delta river that flows downstream and into the harbor, leading out into the vast, beautiful blue ocean.
  57. >The other being a bustling community of humans and monsters.
  58. >He rides by his neighbors' houses. Including Uncle Asriel and Auntie Dess, who were just about to pull out of their driveway. Both wave on while their daughter, Asrielle
  59. >"Howdy Casey!" the goat monster calls out.
  60. >Casey waves back at him. "Morning, Uncle Azzy! I'll see you at school, Asrielle!"
  61. >The hybrid turns his attention back to the road. Weaving in and out of the barely populated roads. Shore Town wasn't that big of a place. If you discount downtown that is.
  62. >He stops just outside of Verd residence. Before him is a beautiful two story house adorned with all sorts of vines and flowers that stuck to the roof and walls of the house.
  63. >And out back, the tall tree Mr. Verd Himself.
  64. >"Howdy, mister Verd!" Casey called out.
  65. >And slowly a leaf falls from one of Mr Verd's branches and lands on Casey's snoot.
  66. >Casey was never really sure what that meant since Mr. Verd doesn't... talk the way most monsters do.
  67. >Probably because he wasn't really a monster.
  68. >But Pines understands him just fine.
  69. >"Uhh... good to see you too. Is Pines here?"
  70. >Just as soon as he says that, the door opens, revealing two figures. The first was pines: the blossoming, four-armed flower girl with golden petals and flytrap shoulders.
  71. >The other, a tall plant girl with a lotus head. Her older sister, Lotus.
  72. >"Hey Casey!" Pines calls out, carrying a skateboard beneath her left arms. She turns to hug Lotus. "Take care sis! Make sure dad doesn't get into trouble!"
  73. >"You kidding Pines? Trouble seems to find him more often than not," Lotus jokes as she pats her sister. "Now go to your boyfriend."
  74. >Pines pushes her. "He's not my- S-shut up Lotus!"
  75. -
  76. >"Could have fooled the heck out of me," Lotus snorts. "Just go and have fun with him, alright? And remember! Don't-"
  77. >"Don't cause trouble, I know... I know."
  78. >But she plans on increasing the amount of trouble now that Casey's around.
  79. >"We're still going to the movies tonight, right?"
  80. >Lotus lets out an uhh. "We'll see. If my job doesn't end up sucking me into the abyss for another couple hours longer. They shouldn't, but you'll never know. You can take Casey with you if you want. It'd be the perfect daaaaaaaate~!"
  81. >"I'M GOING TO HIT YOU!" Pines barks as Lotus lets out a roaring laughter. She then turns and marches her way down to Casey.
  82. >And almost immediately, the two just... start getting awkward.
  83. >"Uhh hey Pines! YOu uhh... you're looking snazzy today."
  84. >She snorts. "Thanks. You look pretty snazzy too. So uhh... yeah. We should... head to school right?"
  85. >"Yeah totally. I can... give you a ride if you want."
  86. >Pines puts her skateboard down and hops on. "No need. But you can pull me around, though. Through South Street."
  87. >Casey raises an eyebrow. "You mean the street that's being worked on?"
  88. >"I mean, yeah. I wanna do some sick kicks and flips in and prep for the High School X Games."
  89. >"You sure you wanna do that? I mean... what if you get hurt?"
  90. >Pines blows a raspberry. "As if. I trust you wouldn't get me hurt."
  91. >No, Pines was good at doing that herself. And acting like it doesn't bother her. "Iiiiiiiiiiiif you insist."
  92. >And with that, Casey takes off. Pines' vines shot out from her left arm to latch on before getting dragged away.
  93. >Their momentum picks up as Casey takes the steep decline down the hilly street.
  94. >Both Casey and Pines laugh as the wind in the air hit their faces during their speedy descent.
  95. -
  96. >Casey swerved from one street to the next. Taking that 'shortcut' to South Street where the construction was happening.
  97. >Humans and monsters were hard at work. One of them, a giant, seems VERY hard at work, seeing how one of their work vehicles is broken down.
  98. >One of them left a ramp on the right side of the road. The perfect opportunity for Pines to show off.
  99. >"Right there Casey. I want you to see my new signature move!"
  100. >"You mean the Pine Twist?"
  101. >"Noooo no the OTHER new one!"
  102. >"How many signature moves do you have?"
  103. >She blushes a bit and coughs. "N-not important! Just... check this!" And as Casey veers toward the right, Pines uses the momentum to fly herself forward, letting go of Casey's bike.
  104. >She does a backflip, twirling around once... twice... three times before catching her skateboard with her vine and pulls it back to nail the landing.
  105. >"AND THE CROWD GOES WILD! PINES VERD! PINES VERD!" she calls out.
  106. > Casey slides to a stop as Pines rushes over to high-five him.
  107. >"I gotta admit; that was SICK! I was actually hoping for the twisting part."
  108. > "Yeeahhh... still a work in progress."
  109. >As in... she made it up on the fly.
  110. >"Well, let's see you work on it later on. We're about..." he checks his phone. "Oh shit we got five minutes left! We should hurry!"
  111. >Vines sprout from Pines' wrist to latch onto the bike. And she got right back on her board. "Lead the way!

  113. Continuing from the last thread
  114.
  115. >Gerson High was a dedicated, prestigious local school in Shore Town, and it offered programs for Ebott University.
  116. > Folks of all kinds come here to learn.
  117. >Some more than others.
  118. >Casey always has pretty good grades. Considering that he has never really studied, it's surprising.
  119. >He just processes and retains information better than most folks.
  120. >The only time he does is when he runs into a subject he never really understands.
  121. >His biggest issue is always math.
  122. >Pines helps him out with that, however.
  123. >At least there are some parts of math he can vibe behind during science class. And as much as Professor Alphys can be... well eggheaded,
  124. >But today's subject was boring as fuck.
  125. >"Right! So... er... class! For today's assignment, we're going to be covering over the astronomical units of measurements for... well... the distance between planets and stars. "
  126. >Casey loves stars. But why did Alphys had to ill it like thiiiis?
  127. >"Pines... I don't think I'd be able to last for too long."
  128. >"Persevere Casey. But if you ever do uhh.. pass out? I'll help you with the assignment."
  129. >casey shakes his head. "I.. ahh appreciate that Pines, but you don't have to. I can take care of it."
  130. >But little did Casey know just how difficult that would be.
  131. >His eyes started to get heavy as Alphys' words turned to mumbles.
  132. >His vision begins to darkern.
  133. >Your vision begins to darken....
  134. ----
  135. >Sleep
  136. >Stay up
  137. ---
  138. That's all for tonight folks.
  139.
  140. I await your response.
