Entering the Main Gate of Ashtan. (Ashtan)
The stars twinkle in the clear night sky. The world of people abruptly replaces
the world of plains here, at the entrance to the city of Ashtan. Cobblestone
streets stretch in many directions, houses and buildings of countless designs
leading up to a grand statue to the north. The maze of opportunity and
achievement that is this grand city-state begins at this spot beneath the arches
of its main gates. The ivy clinging to the archway is the last victim of the
wind of the plains that blows through this entrance, only to be snuffed out by
the shelter and calm within. Some graffiti has been scrawled here. It reads, "
Your guards look better dead, and your guardian sends his regards." The city
gates of Ashtan stand proudly here, black and gold banners waving defiantly at
those who would challenge the Bastion of the North. Densely covered by lush
leaves and vines, a runic totem is planted in the ground. A cute little humgii
is sitting here placidly, attached to a leash. A ladder of long, soft leaves
comprises a wispy Weaver's Fern along the ground. A gleaming wooden sign is
posted here. A small ward hangs here, the bones clattering against one another
quietly in the breeze. A pike with the decapitated head of Darroth has been

thylacine rests here, jaws open in an intimidating yawn. A brightly coloured
jack-in-the-box rests quietly on the ground. A hooded alchemist is here, hidden
beneath his silver, gold, and blue robes. A giant, obsidian scorpion stands
restively, its two huge tails overhanging its head and its huge pincers flexing
and clicking. Wings flaring, a pegasus tosses his regal head impatiently. The
shining figure of a guardian angel floats in the air here. A many-headed hydra
towers over the area, a putrid stench emanating from his scarred verdant body. A

steel rapier marred with char marks in his left hand and a Rapo'kiri lyre of
thorns in his right. Dannyl Maynard is here. He wields a gleaming scimitar in
his left hand and an ebony staff crowned with a brilliant emerald in his right.
Batang is here. He wields a Druidic quarterstaff in both hands. Ovid al-Aqsa,
Dread Redeemer of the Qashar is riding on an alabaster pegasus. He wields a
Shield of Absorption in his left hand and an Auroran Mace in his right. Morrigu
is here. Daje Kindfire is riding on a blood steed. He wields a small blackjack
in his left hand and a living puppet of Silas in his right.
