As a long-time member of the VATCAN/VATSIM network, I am extremely interested in
putting my name forward in the form of an application for the position of Director of
Communications & Events (VATCAN5) in VATCAN.

As of June of 2018, I am a graduate from British Columbia who has worked 4+ years in the
field of Public Relations. While working in this field I believe that I have acquired the
necessary skills/attributes that are required of this role.

For the past 4 years, I have been working with the local school district in two different
positions in regard to student and youth outreach. My responsibilities in this role included the
maintenance, planning and executing of graduation, student and youth events, communication
with neighboring districts and cities regarding student services and supervision of students.

These positions have given me a key understanding in certain skills while also allowing me to
experience working in a professional and fast-paced work environment.
Regarding my ability to meet the specific attributes of this position:

• Daily Communication with VATCAN executive members: My former positions
required me to check my email and speak with other colleagues daily, if not hourly, I
believe that I will meet this requirement if I am given the opportunity to hold the
position of VATCAN5.

• Build relationships and work effectively in VATCAN: I believe that it is
imperative that a member seeking this type of position should be well-informed and
involved in the organization, therefore that member should have the ability to create
relationships that are well built and well suited for this role in addition to being able
to work effectively and efficiently in this environment, I believe that I have already
met this requirement as I am a well-informed and effective member of VATCAN.

• Skills/Real World Credentials: During my tenure with the Mission Public Schools
District as both a student and a volunteer, I was responsible for a wide-variety of
student activities. These student activities came and went. My favourite one was an
event that I did recently where I met with teachers, counsellors, principals and
students and talked about “Management and Motivation”. A record 450 people were
in attendance, this was an event that was in the works 6 months prior to October of
2017 and will be continuing without me this October. Upon request, I will be more
than willing to supply the planning sheets that were worked on, our event brochure,
an outline of the P.R. campaign that took place and a video of the event taking place.
I believe that with VATCAN, the entire communications aspect can be revamped and
flourish into something amazing. This opportunity would not only benefit VATCAN,
but it would also benefit myself in it that I would be able to grow my already great
knowledge about P.R. and from there who knows where that will lead to.

Members of Virtual Airlines and VATCAN in addition to my employers, employees and
colleagues, have acknowledged and commended me for my management and planning skills,
high availability and my “easy to approach for anything” personality. The passion for the
things I do comes from within, and I would love to be able to share that passion with
VATCAN and its members.
