That’s when it happened. Flash! A strange light suddenly illuminated the
entire boat.
“Oh, my god!”
Some of the sailors dove into the captain’s cabin, while others dropped to
the deck, face down . . . For a moment, an eerie silence washed over the
boat.
Takeo was lying flat against the deck. “How weird!” he whispered as he
fearfully raised his head.
Saburō, who was lying flat next to him, also lifted his head and
exclaimed in wonder, “Couldn’t have been lightning. There’re no clouds
out . . .”
