1. The spectrum of political ideology is relatively simple. It arose by the traditions of European parliaments, where the communists would sit on the left of the center and the fascists on the right. This scale of communists-fascists rubbed off on the United States of America, even though it is most irrelevant there. In the US, the "left" belongs to the liberal Democrats, and the "right" lays claim to the moderately conservative Republicans.
2.
3. First, let us define a key difference between Europe and America's scales: fascism, or moderate Nazism, is basically socialism combined with nationalist policies. Meanwhile, communism is, at its most basic form, a hard-core and overly internationalist version of socialism. Thus, both of these ideologies- and thus the European political scale- are based off of Marxist socialism.
4.
5. However, the foundation of the United States is by no means socialist in any way, shape, or form. It is instead founded on a capitalist republic, as opposed to the European and Marxist tyranny, and its political scale should adjust accordingly. Unfortunately, the majority of American politicians and media have not learned this, so they continue to call hard-core Republicans "fascists". This is the exact opposite of the truth.
6.
7. In the fixed scale, the far-right, instead of fascism, would house anarchy, a total lack of government in a uber-libertarian, ultra-conservative state. Therefore, the farther right you travel, the less government is required in the philosophies. The far-left, however, would contain the Marxist tyrannies, with its policies of extreme fiscal liberalism and social totalitarianism. Whereas anarchy means that nothing is disallowed, tyranny assumes that what is not disallowed is required.
8.
9. These two extremes seem to be equally undesirable. Tyranny offers maximum security, but sacrifices freedom. Anarchy promises total freedom, but minimum security. The only logical thing to do is to step in-between. But which in-between spot do we choose for maximum efficiency?
10.
11. Now, there are several parallels between this amended scale and the theological scale discussed in this post. As you would have noticed, the far-right of that scale, Religion or White Magic, directly corresponds with the far-left of this one, Tyranny. For example, see the Holy Roman Empire and the Caliphate: theocratic dictatorships that enforce morality. Tyranny. More moderately, Science- the middle right- would suggest a less total and atheistic form of the same thing, just as modern American liberals and Democrats do today.
12.
13. On the other side of the spectrum, however, the farthest right would be the personal anarchy of the farthest left, Black Magic, except projected onto all of society in a form of total anarchy. And, just as in theology, our aim is to uncover the one political ideology, that single branch of religion, that is most efficient, most rational: the middle right.
14.
15. Keep in mind that the political spectrum is much more complicated than I make it seem. For example, the most accurate scale is not just a straight line, but a graph.
