  5. This chapter's about how time is a sharp sword, and by wielding it, you can control the world. The inner and outer secrets of the world are revealed to him, and he becomes the sage and conqueror of the world. Iqbal says muslims once wielded this sword, but they've lost it now. And it was the muslims who laid the foundation for modern knowledge, notwithstanding that they're in a very contemptible state at this moment.

  11. What a beautiful ending to this. The Masnavi comes to an end with a dua where Iqbal asks for all the usual stuff asked in one, but he specifically asks for an intimate friend with whom he can converse about these hidden, mysterious secrets, and it was a very pleasant and touching read. I liked it. The last shers took me aback.

  17. So I can bestow life on him as I desire
  18. Then view in his heart my own self
  19. I'll create him from my own body's clay
  20. I'll be his idol too, and the sculptor.

  22. This is some deep stuff; it's like a plot twist! He's talking about how he wishes to create a friend inside himself, sculpt him, nurture and raise him, and view himself inside that friend. And that friend is probably born out of Khudi. A VERY GOOD ENDING TO THIS MASNAVI. 👏👏👏Absolutely fantastic.

  24. It took me 2 months to read this. I read it in Farsi, along with Reynold Nicholson's English translation, and some Professor Mufti Muhammad Wasim Akramul Qadri(M.Phil)'s Urdu translation, who's from a city called Sambrial and Yousuf Misali's tashreeh. Honestly, the Urdu translation was good, but I would argue that there were some mistakes here and there. Yousuf Misali's tashreh was ok, bas baat ko lambi karni hai unko magar. The English translation was correct, and I really liked reading it.
