  1. Al x Wayland
  2. C
  3. Wayland:…
  4. Al: There’s a time and place for everything, Wayland.
  5. Wayland: Ah, Algimas. Didn’t notice you there.
  6. Al: Look, I’ll try and not be too privy, but what are you doing daydreaming on the battlefield?
  7. Waykand: Thinking.
  8. Al: About?
  9. Wayland: That one time you were chased by Uncle Clyde’s roosters.
  10. Al: … What?
  11. Wayland: You don’t remember?
  12. Al: No, I remember the event quite well, but why now of all places?
  13. Wayland: Later, Tactician’s starting to get worried.
  14. Al:Hey, wait up, Wayland!
  15. Wayland:...
  16. Al:..Well, I guess somethings never change. Uncle Clyde, huh?
  17.
  18. B
  19. Al: Wayland.
  20. Wayland: … Algimas.
  21. Al: Look, something’s been on my mind for a while now.
  22. Wayland: Uncle Clyde’s roosters attacking you?
  23. Al: Well, it has to do with that in a way. What brought that up, in particular?
  24. Wayland: You really don’t remember?
  25. Al: For Gods’ sake, yes Wayland, I do remember. How could I not, those damned feathered demons almost took my eye out.
  26. Wayland: Well, you were messing around with their hens.
  27. Al: I was trying to take some eggs so I could make something for lunch since Uncle Clyde made me miss breakfast that day.
  28. Wayland: You only missed breakfast because you were caught playing around with Clyde’s weapons and chipped one of his swords. You were lucky I was able to fix it.
  29. Al: He wouldn't have known if you didn't point it out to him!
  30. Wayland: He would have figured it out anyway, those were his weapons after all. Though they were old, he did take care of them and would have noticed whenever he did his maintainance.
  31. Al:And by then we would have been back home. Anyway, what brought up that memory then of all times?
  32. Wayland: Well, if you really want to know, it seemed like a similar situation you are in right now.
  33. Al: What?
  34. Wayland: We can talk about it later, we need to get moving.
  35. Al: …
  36.
  37. A
  38. Algimas:…
  39. Wayland:….
  40. Algimas: So?
  41. Wayland: So what?
  42. Algimas: You just can’t say something like that and leave me hanging there. What do you mean I am in a similar situation?
  43. Wayland: Well, it’s really not that hard to figure out.
  44. Algimas: Just say it.
  45. Wayland: Well, instead of roosters trying claw your eye out, you have your own coop to protect.
  46. Algimas: Coop? …Wayland, that doesn’t make any sense. I thought you were going to talk about how now instead of talons trying to gouge out my eyes, I have to dodge swords and spears.
  47. Wayland: But that’s completely normal on the battlefield. What isn’1t normal is your collection of comrades you have now.
  48. Algimas: But what does that have to do with the chickens?
  49. Wayland: Well, now you’re the one that’s doing the protection.
  50. Algimas: Pardon?
  51. Wayland: You’re the leader, you’re the one that’s protecting something special to you. It really is a lot different than when we were kids.
  52. Algimas: Same could be said of you, Wayland.
  53. Wayland: Pardon?
  54. Algimas: Well, look at you now. I could have imagine you to be banging your hammer against an anvil day in and out, but here you are fighting for Ostriech.
  55. Wayland: I am just doing what I feel is right. I am going to return to being a smith once this is all over, that's all.
  56. Algimas: That still leaves the question of why the sudden memory...
  57. Wayland: To be honest, I just couldn’t help but remember back and be amazed that the brat who was crying for help is now the leader of his own mercenary band.
  58. Algimas: Yeah, I can see where you are- wait, what do you mean “brat”?
  59. Wayland: What else would you call a kid trying to steal eggs?
  60. Algimas: Hungry!
