  1. When I did my state reps survey I left a throw away web message about his participation in the vengeful legislation against a moderate sized convenience store chain Ricker's who figured out how to sell cold beer in the store.
  2.
  3. Woody called me while I was at the dog park Saturday. I was shocked and somewhat um, flattered. Well turns out he was only calling to smite the sinner who did not agree that Ricker's found a LOOPHOLE!!!.
  4.
  5. Ricker's had followed the law with the guidance of the ATC. But it seems to some politicians the law isn't the law and you're never in compliance and you will be punished for it.
  6.
  7. The public fury by the legislature at Ricker's and the legislatures own ATC is insightful into the character of this legislature. They're sacred cow had been gored, their ego bruised, their bribes were in jeopardy.
  8.
  9. Members of the legislature ranted railed and denigrated both Jay Rickers and their own ATC. They used the same words as a degenerate democrat gun banner Joe Donnelly in calling it a "loop hole" and went after Ricker's business with the full threat of the force of the armed bureaucrat's guns under their control. You don't see those guns brandished about but they are always there and always ready to assist.
  10.
  11. The ATC's public mandate on their website is rather chaotic in that it contradicts itself. I feel there is no morality inherent in government. I'd prefer my morals were not dictated by government. ATC actually did attempt to protect the economic welfare of the state. The moral, health and welfare parts are just babble. You don't get true peace from booze or cigs until one of them kills you, though you might die peacefully.
  12.
  13. ::To protect the economic welfare, health, peace, and morals of the people of this state
  14.
  15. I'm quite convinced all of the limits are not rational but are borne of a monetary self interest of certain legislators.
  16.
  17. ::To regulate and limit the manufacture, sale, possession, and use of alcohol and alcoholic beverages
  18.
  19. ::To regulate the sale, possession, and distribution of tobacco products
  20.
  21. This last one is of note. If you restrict one business over another by law then you cannot raise all the revenue possible.
  22.
  23. ::To provide for the raising of revenue
  24.
  25. So how many such stores are there? I looked at ATCs rates and it appears it costs $1000 annually to be one of the anointed cold beer sellers. Multiply that by every convenience store in the state. I would say 10,000 is low. The alcohol commission had accepted at least a windfall of 10 million if not more for their masters. Yet their masters whipped them like a innocent puppy who had followed their master's orders.
