- I think it's that twitter artists refuse to step out of their comfort zone or risk alienating their fanbase and showing anything icky or "gross" despite this show being an obvious love letter to shows like Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and Invader Zim, both of which featured large amounts of disgusting and sometimes borderline disturbing imagery & concepts, especially in the case of Invader Zim.
- It's just really confusing, since I was drawn to the show(s) BECAUSE they were billed as being offensive and edgy. Maybe it's just a case of negative correlation, with fan contents edginess actually having an inverse relationship with the actual shows edginess. It may still be too early to tell so far, but that window seems to be nearly fully closed.

- Similar to what >>37756046 said, I've noticed that with fandoms, if the show is light harded, then the fanworks would be dark, an example of this would be the mlp fandom. While with darker shows, you get the lighter fan stuff.
